THE SHADOW KNOWS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, the book should be put to bed this morning. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, the book should be put to bed this morning. That was supposed to happen last night, but as I did a quick tour of it I found one final bad break so Grant has to fix that and make sure everything after it is fine, and then off it goes to Doug Haverty who, due to Grant’s deadlines, will be assembling everything for the publisher. We’re still hoping to get everything on its way by Friday but it may be Monday, depending on whether I get the blurb in time. I was hoping to have it already, but I suppose one cannot rush these things. I did get my first look at the little photo gallery in the back of the book and it’s really nice. So, the final page count with that and the acknowledgments is 230. Grant did his usual wonderful job. We’ll make it available for pre-order in a day or two and as always the signed copies will come with a special gift.

Yesterday began with the alarm not going off, so I slept an hour later than planned, for a total of nine hours. Once up, I answered e-mails, had some telephonic calls, then went and picked up two packages, one of which was a mistake and which is on its way back from whence it came, then did some banking, and then had an egg salad sandwich with bacon on it, and a side Caesar salad. Then I came directly home directly.

Once home, I listened to music, went through the book and found the additional bad break (really don’t know how I missed it as I was very careful, but you never catch everything), wrote a very rough version of the dust jacket blurb but asked for help and got some good help, then rewrote it using those suggestions. I hate writing the jacket blurbs so it was nice to have the help and now I don’t feel like I really wrote it. I wasn’t in the mood to watch anything, so I just did some work at the piano and on the computer.

Then I made about three ounces of spaghetti with a bit of butter and cheese on it for my evening snack. And I had some chocolate covered raisins for my sweet. I’m also trying to get everything arranged for the Robby Awards next Monday. Finally, I took a hot shower, then relaxed.

Today, I was supposed to have a meeting but that apparently hasn’t been confirmed so I’m guessing that will happen at some other time. So, I’ll do a show order, start to write the commentary, eat, work at the piano, hopefully pick up some packages, and then who knows what the evening shall bring? Not I, not I. Only The Shadow knows, and The Shadow isn’t talking. The Shadow never talks. I’ve frankly had it with the damn Shadow.

Tomorrow will be a fun day. We have two Robby Awards rehearsals here that should take about an hour, then Elizabeth and Richard Sherman will come and I’ll drive us to the editing facility for a little viewing partay. After that, I think we’ll all grab a bite to eat. Friday there is something afoot and perhaps aknee but only The Shadow knows what that might be. Hopefully someone will let me know what’s what. The weekend is unknown to me. Then Monday we do the Robby Awards show at LACC.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, not attend a meeting, do a show order, write commentary, hopefully pick up packages, eat, and then relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall dream who knows what. Well, The Shadow knows but The Shadow is being mum on all topics.
