UNKEMPT IN PANTALOONS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, my hair is most unkempt. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, my hair is most unkempt and one must simply do something about it, for one must have their hair kempt. Therefore, I must book a hair appointment with Teddy – but I fear I will not be able to do so until the kids show is over, although we may be off on Saturday, and if that’s the case then I’ll try to do it then. I must also pay a visit to the cleaners, for I am almost out of clothing to wear, and I don’t want to show up for rehearsals in my pantaloons. But, this is what happens when there are not enough hours in the day – your hair is unkempt and you wear your pantaloons in public. Speaking of pantaloons, yesterday was quite a day. As those who’ve read yesterday’s posts know, I was awakened by a telephonic call telling me my limo was waiting outside. The only problem was that I hadn’t booked a limo. Ten minutes later the limo man called again – telling me I was a doctor and saying that I had ordered a limo. I asked him to tell me what number he was calling – as he read it back to me, he realized he’d misread one number. He apologized, but I could not go back to sleep. So, I got up, posted a few postings, then did manage to get another hour of sleep, which was not enough. By that time, it was too late to jog, so I toddled off to Vinnie’s to finish our mix. We had one song to do, then a few little in-between bits. After we finished those, I did my handful of fixes, and then had to leave for rehearsal. I blocked everything but the final two short scenes, then went back to Vinnie’s so he could make me a CD of our final mixes, in order. After that, I came home, and was joined by Miss Jessica Rush. We had some supper at Louise’s – I ordered the special – something I never do, and boy was I glad I did. It was superb – blackened salmon and shrimp over linguini in a light pink cream sauce. I ate every bite. After that, Miss Rush came back here and did some Kritzerland work – entering over 250 new Kritzerland customer e-mail addresses into our database. She’ll come back on Thursday and begin the very long task of tallying up sales from last June through now. After she left, I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on DVD entitled How To Save A Marriage and Ruin Your Life. Let me keep it short and not so sweet – one of the all-time worst movies ever made. A smarmy 60s “comedy” without a single laugh, filled with excruciating “comedy” situations and characters you don’t care about. I’ve seen bad 60s comedies before, but this one is in the pantheon. Dean Martin looks completely bewildered and bored, Stella Stevens looks lovely but has nothing to do, Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson try hard to no avail, and the whole affair is leaden and lumpy and ludicrous. The transfer is fine, albeit a bit dark. The film does have an okay musical score by Michel Legrand (although its main titles song is horrid).

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because my hair is unkempt and I’m just sitting in my pantaloons because my clothes need to go to the cleaners.

This morning, I have to package up about six orders, get them shipped, pick up some stuff that’s waiting for me at the mail place, do some errands, and then attend rehearsal, where I will finish blocking the show. Starting on Thursday, we’ll be doing run-throughs each and every day. It’s hard to believe, but the show goes up a week from Saturday. Next week will be most busy, with rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and all the attendant stuff. After rehearsal, I shall have some supper and then settle down to watch The Illusionist, which I’m looking forward to.

Tomorrow, more rehearsing, then Miss Rush will come over to begin her tallying, whilst I go off to sup at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, which I am truly looking forward to.

I’m hoping that I’m happy with our final mix, so I can get this thing off to our mastering engineer and up for preorder in the next couple of weeks. I’m still laboring on the synopsis – have done act one, and will try to bang out act two this morning. I’m sure it’s too long, but I’m just not very good at synopsizing my own work.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, jog, write, package, ship, pick up packages, rehearse, eat, and watch a DVD or three. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we?
