THERE’S GOT TO BE A MORNING AFTER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, there’s got to be a morning after, and the morning after the Indiegogo campaign was a little bewildering, simply because I didn’t have to post about it, cheerlead, or anything else.  I just sat here like so much fish after about six hours of sleep or something like that.  I had to be up at eight-thirty for she of the Evil Eye and up I was, and then out the door at nine-thirty.  It was a weird morning all the way around.  I went to Jerry’s Deli and had bacon and eggs and toast and fruit, not necessarily in that order – the actual order was eggs, toast, bacon, and fruit.  Fruit is always last, baby.  That’s just the way it is and it is no other way.

After that, I went to the mail place, since I hadn’t been the day before, but alas there were no packages and no mail, so home I came. She of the Evil Eye was just finishing up.  I’d intended to do nothing at all, and yet I did quite a bit – so much for a ME day. I answered e-mails, printed out orders, found out there would be three post-campaign perks taken that actually would have put us well over 265% maybe even 270%, and of course there are no fees or withheld money on these three things.  So, that was very nice news.

Then I had an inspiration and contacted, via Facebook, Ron Kurowski, who played The Creature in The Creature Wasn’t Nice – I asked him if he’d film himself for a couple of minutes talking about the role and filming.  I told him sooner would be better.  I had it ten minutes later and it’s very funny and he’s just wonderful – I could have used more, frankly and maybe I’ll have him do another couple of minutes.  Gerrit Graham also filmed himself and thus far we haven’t figured out how to get it from his iPad to us – he’s not real technological.  He doesn’t know from Dropbox, it’s too big for an e-mail, he doesn’t know how to text from his iPad (not set up) and it may well be too big for a text.  If anyone has any really clear ideas how to get it from his laptop (it’s in his photos, of course) into We Transfer or Hightail or something, please PM me and we’ll give it a shot.  He tried putting it in the cloud, but I certainly never got a link or notification even though he put my e-mail address in.  Baffling.

Then I had a couple of bagels for my snack.  That was my complete intake of food for the day, so not bad.  I did doze off for about ten minutes at some point.  I talked to Elizabeth Sherman.  She had a little problem with her shoulder so didn’t think they’d be with us on Sunday for the Kritzerland show.  But by the end of the conversation, Richard so wanted to come that she said we’d play it by ear and she’d call me tomorrow morning if they’re feeling up to it.  I’m really hoping they can come.

I then uploaded a ton of music that we’ll be doing over the next few months – at least six to eight more releases this year, I think.  Then I had to proof liner notes for something we’re reissuing that I produced years ago – we’re using the same notes, but they had to be re-typed so had to be proofed.  Then I wrote a new paragraph looking back at the album.  After that, I went to Ralph’s and got soda pops and waters. Then I listened to music.

Today, I think I can sleep until ten-thirty or eleven, then I’ll shower and get ready for our one o’clock stumble-through, which happens at one o’clock. I’ll give whatever notes I have afterwards, run whatever we have to, and then I know some of us are going to eat at a favorite jernt of mine.  Since we wouldn’t get there until after two-thirty, I’m pretty sure we’ll get a table right away.  After that, I am relaxing and I don’t care who knows it.

Tomorrow, I can sleep at least until eleven, then I’ll relax and rest my voice, then get ready, then mosey on over to Vitello’s for sound check, and then our show.  I’m sure some of us will go downstairs after for a bite to eat, because that is our routine. Then next week is very busy catching up on stuff, making sure everything is going forward in the DVD production – I believe Doug now has everything for the booklet – I took my liner notes for the soundtrack of The Creature, shortened them, and made some fixes.  And I made sure I had the list of Indiegogo thank yous and associate producers.  Otherwise, it’s meetings and meals, getting ready to cast The Man Who Came to Dinner, and preparing some more CD releases.  But mostly I’m praying the disburse our Indiegogo money.  It used to take two to three weeks, but the October campaign came within two or three days, which was great.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, sleep in until ten-thirty or eleven, hopefully pick up packages, have a stumble-through, eat, and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite kinds of crackers and cheese?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, knowing there’s got to be a morning after and happy it wasn’t terrible and that we got three post-Indiegogo contributions.
