BREAKING NEWS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I have some breaking news – it is Monday. And they say that these here notes are fluff, are banal, are trivial, and yet we provide up-to-the-minute breaking news such as it is Monday. Here is more breaking news – these onion rolls that I’m fond of from Gelson’s apparently do not agree with me. I agree with them and yet they do not agree with me. So, I’m afraid there shall be no more of these disagreeable onion rolls for the likes of me. Other than those breaking news items, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to the fourth symphony of the American composer William Schuman. He’s not my favorite American composer but I enjoy his music and his fourth, for me, is a little formless and yet still appealing and has nice writing for French horn. I do enjoy his choreographic poem, Judith, which is coming up next. And I did watch a four-part documentary of almost four hours duration. It was called This Is a Robbery – The World’s Biggest Art Heist, about the great art heist from the Gardner Museum in Boston. I knew nothing of this art heist, so I was interested to see it. The biggest problem right from the start of the documentary is that we know the theft has never been solved nor have the paintings stolen ever show up. So, stretching this thing out to four hours when it could probably be done better in a more concise two, well, it’s typical of these things. Funnily, I just read a review of it that said exactly what I just wrote, almost word for word. Anyway, it was interesting but not worth the four hours. I’d tell you what happened prior to that but there isn’t much to tell so let’s just move ahead to the next paragraph, shall we?

Yesterday was really only three hours long before the evening hours began. That is because I guess I needed to sleep and sleep I did, eleven hours of sleep. So, once up, I had a bunch of e-mails to answer, and answer them I did. Then I was hungry, so I had a bagel, cream cheese and lox, and later two turkey sandwiches on the disagreeable onion rolls. And my tummy hasn’t recovered since, although they were tasty as they were being consumed. And then I sat on my couch like so much fish and dozed off for almost ninety minutes. Why? Then I watched the four-hour documentary, did some work on the computer, had a telephonic conversation, and then listened to William Schuman and began writing these here notes. And that brings us up to speed, that makes these here notes au courant, that means we’re up-to-date and happening, not necessarily in that order.

Today, I have many things to do – hopefully have a Zoom about the screenplay or at least a telephonic conversation, hopefully pick up some packages, eat, figure out a show order, write some commentary and plan our next three release announcements. And then at some point I can watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is more of the same, some meetings and meals, a work session for the June Kritzerland show, and starting to work on something that will happen in a week or so if I can get it all together, which I must – a little Indiegogo campaign for Kritzerland that will help with the Kritzerland shows (I should have done it ages ago) and acquiring some new releases and giving us a little cushion, which we need desperately. I haven’t decided on the goal yet, but, as always, there’ll be lots of fun perks, but I’m also hoping that people will take part just to support a label that has brought a lot of pleasure over the last seventeen years and close to 400 releases.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do many things, hopefully have a Zoom or telephonic conversation about the screenplay, hopefully pick up packages, eat, make a show order, write commentary, plan our next releases, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: How many streaming services do you subscribe to? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have brought you such important breaking news as it is Monday.
