February 1, 2023:

ENTER FEBRUARY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to the soothing sounds of Mr. Antonio Carlos Jobim, the album Terra Brasilis, with the gorgeous orchestrations of Mr. Claus Ogerman – just what the doctor ordered. Actually, I don’t have a clew as to what the doctor ordered and the doctor doesn’t have a clew as to what I ordered. But before we go any further, has anyone noticed that it’s February? How did that happen? In any case, it is my fervent hope and prayer that February will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. I must say, I could not get with watching a motion picture last night and Lord knows I tried. The real issue is I kept falling asleep, over and over again. But it was a long and emotionally exhausting day. First of all, I didn’t get more than a few hours of sleep. I finally got up at seven-thirty, shaved and showered, and then Karen Staitman came with good lighting and a make-up person. I was beautified and she was very good, and Karen set up her two lights, which are a lot more flattering than ring lights. But no matter how nice all that was it’s still using the computer camera and that camera stinks. The first interview was with Extra, whatever that is, and it was okay and lasted about ten minutes. Then fifteen minutes later we did the second interview and that one was much more fun because the nice gal asking the questions had done her homework and asked really good questions and I’m sure it will edit down to a brief but nice thing. Then they left and I finished proofing the book. I then meant to go to the mail place but it was too early to do so – mail gets there around eleven-thirty. So, instead I ordered a Chinese chicken salad from Stanley’s, and that arrived and was very good. Then I began entering fixes and I really have to get some reading glasses and sooner than later. I got about fifty pages done and then had to take a break. I don’t actually do all the changes I mark because sometimes I’m second guessing myself and I go with what I did first. I had some telephonic calls and by the time I remembered about the mail place it was too late to go, so that will have to get done today, although not until around three because of a lunch meeting and then showing a couple of Sami episodes to our publicist. I’ll either show two or three, haven’t decided yet.

Marshall came by with the drive and low-rez versions of episodes one though eight are on there, so I watched the eight and that was a little emotional, seeing all the Cindy scenes and how much fun she is in the show. I took notes as I watched, mostly some sound adjustments and a few questions about other little stuff, but nothing major so far. I found all the episodes charming and fun.

I heard from quite a few friends and that was nice. I had a hot dog for my evening snack and I think that’s quite enough hot dogs for a while.

Today, I’ll be up by ten or thereabouts, I’ll do whatever needs doing, and then it’s a lunch meeting, then showing the two or three episodes to our publicist. As soon as that’s done, I’ll go to the mail place and hopefully pick up two important envelopes and then do some banking, then come home for a telephonic call. Then I can go back to entering fixes. Right now, I’m on page 106 so I hope I can get to page 200. I doubt I’ll have any time to watch, listen, or relax.

Tomorrow is all entering fixes and hopefully I can finish my stuff and move on to the proofers’ fixes. I’m hoping to get one more quick rehearsal for the Robby Awards, then those are on Sunday.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten or thereabouts, do whatever needs doing, have a lunch meeting, show two or three episodes to our publicist, hopefully pick up two important envelopes, do some banking, have a telephonic conversation, the enter fixes. Today’s topic of discussion: What was the first pet you ever had? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as we give a warm welcome to the entrance of February.
