MOVING RIGHT ALONG

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and I must be up and at ‘em at an early hour. Now, I could end these here notes right now but that would be unseemly and so I shan’t and I won’t, not necessarily in that order. I will write a few paragraphs of little interest and then I shall post these here notes, and then I shall try to get a decent night’s sleep. So far, I think I’m well ahead of the curve in terms of paragraphs of little interest. This particular paragraph, for example, is a textbook example of little interest. I better amp things up or I’ll fall asleep whilst writing this particular paragraph, so let me just say that I did manage to see part of a motion picture last evening – only part, because I fell asleep after five minutes and only saw the final thirty minutes, with a few minutes here and there when I’d occasionally wake up only to fall asleep again a moment later. It actually began when I sat on my couch like so much fish, remote in hand, looking at what was new on Amazon Prime, movie-wise. And there was Trapeze, the 1956 film with Burt, Tony, and Gina. Before I could even click on it, I was asleep, dreaming weird dreams from which I’d occasionally awaken and see the remote in hand and thinking where the HELL am I anyway. I think that went on for at least thirty minutes. I saw Trapeze as a young boy of eight years of age, at the Wilshire Theater, where it was playing exclusively in Cinemascope and color. I remember liking it quite a bit and certainly certain parts of it stuck with me forever. I’ve only seen it one time since, on horrid-looking DVD. It came out on Blu-ray but got poor reviews so I never got it. While what’s on Amazon is better than the DVD I saw, it’s still not what it should be, either in terms of sharpness or color, but it doesn’t look as drab as the Blu-ray photos I’ve seen. It would be fun to see it looking as it should, because it was mighty impressive to these eight year old eyeballs on the huge Cinemascope screen. I’ll probably watch the entire thing at some point soon.

Yesterday was okay. I got about seven and a half hours of sleep, answered e-mails, and then got ready to mosey on over to Marshall Harvey’s abode for a final little finessing session. I’d gotten the first of the two green screen numbers so that was already in when I arrived and it looks quite nice. We went episode by episode but it was just some color correction, tightening an edit, simple stuff like that. So, next week all ten episodes will go to the close caption people and that will take ten days. By that time, we’ll have finished everything and made the full resolution copies for uploading. All we’re waiting on now is the final green screen, one more song mix, two incidental cues, and the re-recording of a song this coming Monday, which will also have to be mixed, but it’s simple. So, moving right along.

After we finished, I stopped and got two Popeye’s mild chicken breasts, came home, and ate them all up – very good. That’s basically all the food I had for the day and evening. Then I had to catch up on a few things, we had the once every two weeks computer freeze, so I had to shut down and then start it up again, and then I had my napping and viewing experience.

Today, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine, I’ll have a light breakfast, I’ll go to the mail place where there is a week o’ stuff to get – packages, screeners, and whatever mail is there. We’ll begin shipping the errant and truant CDs this weekend, so that will be a load off. Then I have to do some writing and maybe have a Zoom, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow will be more of the same, and then this coming week is going to be either very difficult or okay, depending on what miracles occur. We’ll try to announce two new titles and then whatever else needs doing will be done.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine, have a light breakfast, go to the mail place and pick up whatever’s there, ship CDs, write, maybe have a Zoom, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite films of Burt and Tony – Lancaster and Curtis, that is. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy the Sami things are moving right along.
