Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, and so is this here big boy computer, which is being ornery and slow and moronic, not necessarily in that order. This has been going on for over an hour now and I, for one, am ready to do a smack down, I am ready to smack this thing silly, I am ready to curse and rail and eat a cupcake, because it is DAMN frustrating. It’s not doing what it does when it does its ubiquitous freeze, noooo, it’s just being ornery for its own sake and there will be a computer smackdown that they will hear from here to eternity and hell and back. Even the Music app is misbehaving but at least it’s actually playing music. But can I make any changes in the listing? Noooo. I think if I can get these here notes posted, I might just do a restart. I’m currently listening to a movie theme album on Dot Records – Elmer Bernstein conducting from 1958, I believe, in lovely stereophonic sound. His arrangements are very Elmer, so that’s fun to hear an Elmer-like Gone With the Wind. Suddenly the listing thing is working and now writing these here notes is hiccupping like crazy. I’m telling you, there is a computer smackdown coming the likes of which Albanians have never seen, so watch out. I did watch a motion picture last night, entitled They Might Be Giants, starring George C. Scott and Joanne Woodward, written by James Goldman and directed by Anthony Harvey. Even though Mr. Harvey, once an editor, directed Goldman’s The Lion in Winter, he’s simply not a very interesting director and he doesn’t handle the tonal shifts well. That said, the actors are all wonderful and the film is blessed with a very good score by John Barry. The dialogue is fun most of the time, and Miss Woodward is endearing as all get out and I think we all know how endearing all get out is. Google Chrome hasn’t loaded properly for ninety minutes and isn’t THAT a kick in the damn pants? It just sits there like so much fish. I’m ready to pump it full of lead with a gat. Also, I must write these here notes in a hurry because she of the Evil Eye will be here bright and early and I must try to get a decent night’s sleep.
Yesterday was just another weird day that felt weird. Nothing terrible, really, but just weird. I got seven hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, still no hardcover on Amazon so I wrote an e-mail to everyone and am told they’re as baffled as I am and are trying to get Amazon to behave properly. It’s ridic. I went to Gelson’s – no onion rolls, so no tuna sandwiches, so I then went to Taco Bell and got food, came home, and ate it. It was fine. Later, I had two cupcakes and frankly my dear I don’t give a damn WHO knows it or even who nose it. Then I did some stuff on the computer, had some telephonic conversations and text volleys, watched the movie, and then began dealing with an ornery computer who IS misbehavin’. Now Elmer is having his way with Laura and Laura seems to be fine about it. Elmer also did a theme album for Marlon Brando movies that’s quite good. That one I may have on CD, but I’m not sure. I’ll have to do a little Amazon detective work.
Today, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine. I don’t know where I’ll breakfast – I’m kind of tired of my two usual jernts. We shall see. Then I’ll go to the mail place and gather up whatever’s there, which may be nothing, then I’ll come back and start choosing songs for the June Kritzerland, which is going to be a 95th birthday celebration concert for the one and only genuine original Richard Sherman. Still trying to find one more person for the show. Otherwise, it will be a ME day and I’m sure I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is more of the same, then next week is very busy finalizing songs and getting everyone their music, doing Sami stuff, including an interview that I think will be a Zoom thing, and whatever else needs doing.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine, have a light breakfast, go to the mail place, choose songs, and then have a ME day and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite motion pictures of George C. Scott and Joanne Woodward? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as I prepare for the epic computer smackdown.
