Well, dear readers, in the “I hate when that happens” department, I set my alarm to awaken me at eleven-thirty, which would give me about six hours of sleep and plenty of time to get ready for my two-thirty lunch meeting. So, there I am in bed, dreaming weird dreams, one after another, and waking up from them every now and then. So, I wake up and I’m thinking, it must be close to eleven-thirty by now, so I tap the phone and it’s – three o’clock. I cannot believe it. Eleven hours of sleep? And I’m supposed to be in a lunch meeting thirty minutes ago? Say what? What say? I know I set the alarm correctly and “saved” it, which is what I didn’t do the one and only time it didn’t go off. I got up, instantly called the guy I’m supposed to meet with, apologized profusely, telling him my astonishing tale and that I’d be there in fifteen minutes. Well, somehow, I got dressed, brushed various and sundried tooths, and was in my car in six minutes. I then hied myself to Toluca Lake and Paty’s in an amazing nine minutes. Fifteen minutes total. The meeting was fine and I have to read something next week and I got to have my beloved Trousdale sandwich, which was great, as always. For my side, potato salad, also great. After the meeting I came directly home and the day was pretty much done. I hadn’t even looked at e-mails, so I began there and saw I’d had a nice Kritzerland order for $120. Unfortunately, then I saw that Dropbox had taken its yearly fee that ate up the entire $120. I cannot tell you how irritating that was, but that is my life right now, it seems, and it damn well better be changing or I shall have to beat a tomato with a stick. I answered the plethora of e-mails, roamed the Internet catching up and responding to various and sundried things, had a very long telephonic conversation and by the time that was over it was already dark out. I ordered a Chinese chicken salad from Stanley’s, since the Trousdale isn’t enough food for a day, and that arrived and was very good and pretty calorie friendly, as their dressing is extremely light. After that, I sat on my couch like so much fish.
Last night, I watched a new documentary on Rock Hudson that premiered yesterday on MAX. I enjoyed it very much – not really much new information but done with respect. Lots of good clips and interviews and ultimately moving. Highly recommended by the likes for me, especially if you’re a fan, which I was and am.
After that, I went down a tiny newspapers.com rabbit hole to no avail (I hate when that happens) and whilst I was doing that the alarm went off at eleven-thirty. Unbeknownst to the likes of me, you have to change PM to AM – I took my noon o’clock PM alarm and moved that thirty minutes sooner, not realizing it would stay as PM. Damn them, damn them all to HELL. So, that solved the mystery of the alarm not going off, so I won’t be making THAT mistake again, let me tell you and I have told you.
Then it was late and I had to hustle and bustle through these here notes, which, in case you missed it, is what I’ve been doing.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll eat something at some point, I’ll check with the mail place to see if any important envelopes have arrived, but thankfully I don’t have any meetings today. At some point, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, I’ll Zoom with David Wechter, Saturday, she of the Evil Eye comes so I may just go over to the Hollywood Show – haven’t been to one in many years – but I have friends there, specifically Donna Pescow and Adrian Zmed, so that might be fun. Then again, it might not be fun. We’ll see how I’m feeling. If I don’t go, then I’ll just do the usual breakfast somewhere. And, of course, Saturday is a new month. Sunday can be a ME day, and then it’s another busy week.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat something at some point, check with the mail place to see what’s what, and then I can watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite films starring Mr. Rock Hudson? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall hopefully NOT sleep for eleven hours – I hate when that happens.
