Well, dear readers, I have just retyped the word “dear” twelve times – I just couldn’t type it correctly. We had der and dert and ear and dire and on and on. I did like Well, dire readers but here we are, and I finally got it right. I am, at this very moment, suffering a bout of extreme nausea. I sure hope I don’t have food poisoning for the second time in a week. If so, there can only two likes suspects – I had two chicken breasts from Popeye’s, so that’s one possibility. The other is a very long show – there were some Krispy Kreme donuts left over from the first casting session and Doug said they were still pretty fresh. I took one bite, and it didn’t taste right but it was such a small bite that I swallowed it instead of spitting it out. I doubt such a small bite would cause this nausea. Anyway, I’ve been popping Pepcids and hopefully I’ll get past this quickly. Otherwise, it’s been a weird evening. I was very overtired, so I sat on the couch and slept almost three hours, then tried to watch something and slept another hour. But it wasn’t all that. I did do two count them two productive things. I got to work on the project with David Wechter and did three pages of that and I probably have another three or four in the sequence I’m in. And I did proof the first forty-three pages of a new book. Pleased with it so far and not finding all that much to correct. The big hurricane (downgraded to a tropical storm on Saturdy) was bad in certain outlying areas but was no different here in LA and the Valley than the rainfall we’ve had for the past year, some of which was worse than what we had yesterday. It drizzled in the morning, then got stronger, was coming down pretty good from about eleven to one, then nothing for a few hours, and then heavy again for a few hours. After eight my time, nothing, not a drop. The news services, so desperate for ratings and views were reprehensible – never being specific about where the bad stuff was, just showing flooding and winds but acting like it included LA and the Valley. And people have been calling them on the BS all day and night. Of course, there was the usual panic buying, so people won’t have to shop for a few days. Interestingly, right in the midst of all this, there was a 5.5 earthquake. I was in the casting session when it happened and none of us felt a thing.
Yesterday was wacky. I don’t think I slept even three hours because there’s something in the Little Toni’s red sauce that is just too acidic for my tummy. I’m hoping we don’t have a replay of that sleepless night. I just did stuff, then got ready and left here at eleven-fifteen and went to Staples and picked up the printed manuscript for proofing. Then I went to the theater and we had our second casting session. Some very good people, but save for one person we’re calling back tonight, no one I was that was quite right. After that, I went to the mail place but they’d closed early because of the dire warnings which thankfully never arrived. I got the Popeye’s and came home, ate it, and then began proofing. The rest you know.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing. I’ll split the day between proofing and working on the project with David Wechter, then I’ll ship the item, then go sit somewhere and eat and proof, then go to callbacks. Then I’ll come home and watch, listen, and relax.
We’ll be shipping CDs (helper has been busy), I’ll finish my proofing, enter whatever fixes there are, then send the book to the two proofers for proofing. On Tuesday, the new season at the Group Rep will be announced and then I’ll be able to share what musical we’ll be doing. But mostly proofing and working on the project with David Wechter.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, split the day between proofing and the project with David Wechter, ship the item, eat and proof, have callbacks, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What’s the worst storm you’ve ever been through? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, enjoying proofing.
