Well, dear readers, it is Friday, for those who like to keep track of the days. And I’m happy to say that last night I finally finished proofing the book all 462 manuscript pages of it. It may actually be back to 461 now. I only had two things to run by Muse Margaret in the last 150 pages, so that was good. I did make a couple of lifts – nothing major, just stuff that seemed to impede the flow. And I added one fun dialogue exchange. Then I entered all the fixes from the final 150 pages. After I finished, which was around ten o’clock, I then sent the book to the two proofers. One likes to work on the document itself, the other likes to work on a PDF. I like New York in June, how about you? I’m sure both proofers will find typos and stuff. I get the big stuff, usually. I also changed two character’s first names and I may have missed one or two along the way. So, now I am free until I get the proofer fix suggestions, but once I have them, it goes pretty quickly.
That, dear readers, was my entire day and evening, save for eating and having a one-hour Zoom. I didn’t even have the usual breaks because I really wanted to finish. I got eight-and-a-half hours of sleep, answered e-mails, and then began the long day’s journey into night proofing session. I made Wacky Noodles for food and they weren’t the greatest batch, but they were fine and filled me up. Much later, I ordered a side of potato salad and a piece of cherry pie from Mel’s Diner. What arrived was a double smash cheeseburger and onion rings. I called the delivery person and he spoke little English so he couldn’t understand me and I certainly couldn’t understand him. I called DoorDash and got an idiot who kept me on the phone for thirty damn minutes about getting me a refund credit so I could place a new order. She kept telling me it was “under review” and would take up to three hours and I kept telling her I wanted it right now as the restaurant would be closed in two hours. She told me there was nothing anyone would do to make it go faster.
So, I went to the DoorDash site and initiated a chat and had the refund in less than a minute. The food arrived, correct this time. I didn’t love the potato salad and the cherry pie was not that great either. But I needed a little something and those two items did the trick.
I didn’t really watch anything, not even YouTube videos, I just kept on keeping on because sometimes a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do, not necessarily in that order. And then it was time to write these here notes.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll have a VERY brief ten-minute Zoom with David Wechter, otherwise it’s a ME day. Not sure what I’ll do about food at this point. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye comes and I’ll go have a light breakfast somewhere, the do a few things, before returning home. Then I’ll do some work on the project with David Wechter. Sunday is more of the same, then next week I have to start preparing for 70, Girls, 70 and there is a LOT to prepare, as we start to cast right after Labor Day and in case no one has noticed, August is almost over and perhaps somebody somewhere can explain to me how THAT happened.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, have a ten-minute Zoom, eat, and have a ME day, after which I can watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and you DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming player and devices? I’ll start – CD, nothing. Streaming, Ten Seconds to HELL. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that my fixes are in.
