ODDLY BORING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this day is done, and a new day is beginning. What a profound way to begin these here notes. That was very philosophical and yet oddly boring. But isn’t one allowed to be oddly boring every now and then. Oddly Boring – that’s the title of my next novel and certainly it will be the title of these here notes, a rather accurate title for these here notes, as I’ve already fallen asleep twice whilst writing this opening salvo. And then for some unknown reason, I moseyed on over to the piano and played through some songs that are featured in Kritzer World. And that was oddly boring, too. Last night was oddly boring as I slept for two hours, sat on my couch like so much fish dozing on and off after the two hours, and watching not even an irritating YouTube video. I just received an e-mail whose header was: Constipated? I felt no need to respond. And here we are with notes that are oddly boring and constipated, not necessarily in that order.

Yesterday was long. I did get six hours of sleep, she of the Evil Eye arrived and I went and had an omelet at Hugo’s. After that, I went to the mail place and picked up a couple of packages, then went to the theater for our noon o’clock rehearsal. We had missing actors, but I ran the opening number and then jumped to the number called Hit It, Lorraine. I really had no idea how to even approach staging it, but as I blocked the little one-page scene that leads into it, it came to me. It took almost two hours, was frustrating in certain ways, as our assistant director wasn’t with us to notate the staging. Thankfully, it was taped because everyone seemed to forget things right after we did them. It did come out really cute and we gave it a big finish and I think it will be a showstopper, and our Larraine is a terrific pianist and she’s also a character and funny, so I’ve been adding stuff for her other than just playing. Then I staged a duet and that will be fun, too. I’d hoped to get to one other duet, but we ran out of time.

I stopped at Gelson’s on the way home and got cheese enchiladas, came home, heated them up, and they were very good, with a little sour cream on top. With a Little Sour Cream on Top – that’s the title of my next novel, the sequel to Oddly Boring. The rest you know.

Today, I will hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep. And I’ll continue fighting the good fight not to get sick. Then I’m attending an opening night, a five-thirty performance and hopefully it won’t be too long as I don’t want to be out more than a couple of hours. I think I’ll get something to take home to eat after the play rather than before the play. We shall see. Then I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, I hope to sleep in again, I’ll do some work on the project with David Wechter, but basically it will be a ME day pretty much. The rest of the week is rehearsals Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and maybe Sunday, depending on where we are.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep, fight the good fight not to get sick. attend an opening night, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I’m quite certain I shall dream oddly boring dreams filled with constipation.
