THE ALLERGIES ARE RUNNING RAMPANT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, the allergies are running rampant, that’s all I can tell you. And wouldn’t it be better if rampant was running the allergies? Yesterday was a doozy, allergy-wise and the twelve-hour Claritin-Ds simply don’t work for me as well as the twenty-four-hour version. But I have a box of those coming this evening and hopefully that will work better. I did get a little over eight hours of sleep, woke up to a horrific allergy attack, popped a Claritin-D, which didn’t really kick in for about three hours, answered e-mails, but wasn’t really in any condition to do any writing or anything at all, really. I do know that I had a chopped Eyetalian salad from the California Pizza Kitchen and that was very good. I think we finally found our cast replacement, but now we’ve got a leading lady who is not getting better from her flu – she’s homeopathic, I think, and that’s probably not the best way to go when you’re that sick. She actually suggested we replace her, but I spoke to her and told her that’s not what any of us wanted and that we can wait a few days and see how she feels and hopefully she’ll be getting better soon. We still have three weeks until tech, but there is a humungous amount of stuff to do and there are so many conflicts that it’s more and more difficult to get things done. I’m just going to forge ahead and someone will write down everything we’re doing or film it and those who are missing rehearsals are going to have to learn their stuff and be ready to do it, because I’m done going backwards and losing all that rehearsal time. I should have been done with act one on Saturday and I can’t see any way of finishing it before Thursday now. Act two is shorter, but it’s still a ton of stuff. And we have to do as many run-throughs as possible, so everyone gets used to how the show runs, the pace we need, and I have to have the chance to actually finesse things and get the performances where they need to be. There are still three big numbers to stage in act one and I was supposed to have a choreographer I know do two of them but so far nothing has been set up, date-wise, and I told her yesterday we had to figure it out. I wasn’t in the mood to watch anything but did manage to watch a couple of irritating YouTube videos. There were several long telephonic conversations, and around six-thirty I got into bed and slept for a couple of hours. That was about it. The only other thing I ate besides the salad was a little low-fat cottage cheese.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I will try to do a little writing on the project with David Wechter, I did manage to get the eBook version of Kritzer World up on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, so if anyone would like to be a guinea pig reader, please feel free to grab a copy. I’ll eat something – it’s Taco Tuesday, which is, I guess, a “thing” now – so lots of discounts on DoorDash – then we’re back in rehearsal at seven. Depending on who is and isn’t there will determine what we do, but we’ll review the two big things we did on Saturday.

The rest of the week is more of the same, I have a meeting on Friday, I have to get our set designer on the same page that I’m on, and I have to have a conversation with our lighting guy. I think this weekend we work both days.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, try to do some writing, eat, and then rehearse. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Taco Tuesday – what are your favorite kinds of tacos and where have you had the best tacos? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping the allergies that are running rampant finally abate.
