Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry, for she of the Evil Eye will be here bright and early and I must get as much sleep as possible. To that end, let’s just not dip our toe in the water of these here notes, let’s dive right in, shall we? We had a rehearsal last night and continued slogging through act one – unlike the previous rehearsal, we actually got close to the end of the act, so that was good. Lots of stopping and starting, reminders about the blocking, I switched up a couple of things, and we barreled through as best we could. But as we went along, the shape of the act began making itself apparent and that’s very important. We’re nowhere near the pace we need and must have, but with the exception of one number that’s always bothered me, everything seems to make sense, at least. I now have to figure out how to set up a change we had to make in one number and that certainly was eluding me during rehearsal, but I’ll sit with the script and figure out how to do it. But even now, some of the numbers are becoming delightful. I came right home after rehearsal, knowing I had to get up early.
Yesterday was a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. I did get almost ten hours of very appreciated sleep, got up, answered many e-mails, had telephonic conversations, and then had a chopped Eyetalian salad from California Pizza Kitchen and that was quite satisfying. After that, I had a long telephonic conversation, shaved and showered, and then moseyed on over to the mail place, where there was six days of mail waiting for me. One package, very unexpected, something I ordered maybe two years ago, a couple of CDs. The seller, who is one of my favorites, had a fire in his apartment that destroyed a ton of stuff, and he asked if I wanted a refund and I felt so bad for him that I told him to just send me stuff when he could. He’s back on his feet now, which is great. Still praying for a modern major miracle so I don’t have so much stressful stress on my weary shoulders. Let’s all make Monday the day – that would be VERY helpful. At the mail place were a WGA check for The Faculty, pretty small, but will pay for three dinners, and a smaller Apple Dumpling Gang residual that might pay for one additional meal. Then I went to rehearsal and here we are.
Today, I’ll be up by eight and out the door by eight-forty-five or so, I’ll go to the ATM, then I’ll go have some breakfast, although I know not where at this time. Then I may stop by the theater to say hello to the folks who are building our set. Our rehearsal isn’t until six, so I’ll relax until I leave. Then I’ll come home right after and relax.
Sunday, our rehearsal is at two, I think and not sure how that’s gonna work if they’re still building. But it’s really not a hard set to build so maybe we’ll get lucky. Monday is thankfully a day off, then we’re back in earnest on Tuesday and hopefully with a full cast, finally. Then we really have to work hard and pull this thing together and have some run-throughs, including a stumble-through for the lighting designer. So, a busy week that will also include meetings and meals and writing.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight, I’ll have some breakfast somewhere, I’ll visit the set builders briefly, I’ll relax and then our rehearsal is at six and I’ll relax after that. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite Eyetalian dishes – pasta, veal, chicken, pizza – all of it. Where did you have your most incredible Eyetalian meal and what was it comprised of? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as we continue slogging through the show.
