Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry, as we have a matinee day and I’m going to try and be up at ten to do stuff and get ready. Then again, there’s not all that much to write about. So, let me just go in order. In order to go in order, I shall have to go in order. I got a bit over eight hours of sleep, got up, answered a lot of e-mails, then did a quick trip to Gelson’s and got a chicken Caesar salad. I came home and ate it all up. I relaxed, needed to deal with some merde and didn’t, then I showered and got ready to be on my way to the theater. I got there around six-fifteen, finally adjusted the clock in the car to an hour earlier, then I talked to our sound guy, who swapped out three bad mics for new ones and during sound check that seemed to do the trick. A couple of cast members wanted to run stuff and that’s always fine. We had over fifty people in attendance, which is, I’m told, very good these days for a first Saturday night. I think they enjoyed it very much – a little sloppy in places, so I spoke to a few people afterwards. The sound was MUCH better, with only a couple of too loud/too soft moments. I didn’t really know anyone there. I hung around for about ten minutes after, then took my leave and stopped at Ralph’s for one of those chicken burrito 4.99 things, came home and ate that as my evening snack. That was pretty much it, so let me share a few more pictures. Here’s Carol Weiss as Lorraine.
Here’s the company in the opening number.
Here’s Fay DeWitt as Gert.
Here’s Barbara Minkus as Ida.
Here’s Danica Waitley as Eddie, Cyndi Payo as Eunice, and Doug Haverty as Harry in Hit It, Lorraine.
Here’s Sara Shearer, who plays several roles in the show, but here as Granny with Danica Waitley doing Go Visit Your Grandmother.
Finally, here’s Lloyd Pederson as Walter and Cyndi Payo as Eunice in Do We?
Today, I’ll be up by ten and I’ll mosey on over to the theater around 12:30 or so. We have to run the first scene, as there were too many missed lines and a whole lot of fumfering. I know quite a few people who are attending, and I’ll probably have to stand in the back since it’s sold out (unless there are some no-shows). I think there’s a talkback afterwards, and if so, I always enjoy those. Then I’ll go eat something, then come home.
Tomorrow, I have some merde that must be dealt with – it’s kind of minor but VERY irritating, but mostly I’m just going to take a few days to unwind and stuff before diving back into the project with David Wechter. I think we’re going to try to have one run-through this week and one the following week before we come back the day after Thanksgiving. It’s such a shame we’re not playing the second weekend. Anyway, hoping for a few modern major miracles or there will be hell toupee.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten, shave and shower, mosey on over to the theater, have a matinee and perhaps a talkback, eat, and then relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a pretty good second performance.
