Well, dear readers, these here notes are late because I haven’t had the energy or sense of humor to write them. This is due, of course, that the hoped for modern major miracle turned out to be a modern major extremely minor miracle was most upsetting and while I’m grateful and appreciative of any and all miracles, this one should have been MAJOR and sadly it was not. All miracles are at least a little helpful and this one was, so there’s that. It put a pall on the day, for sure, and that pall carried over into the evening hours, even though I again slept on the couch like so much fish for two count them two hours from four-thirty to six-thirty. Due to the pall, and let’s face it, I found a pall appalling, I didn’t watch a motion picture, instead only watching irritating YouTube videos which, of course, only exacerbated the appalling pall. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, the appalling pall stood tall and would not fall at all, which, as I recall, was not a ball and was, in fact, filled with gall. I probably should have gone to the mall or done my impression of Monty Hall so that it would stall, but finally I simply stared at the wall whilst putting on my southern accent and saying “Y’all.” What am I, a rhyming dictionary all of a sudden. I also played one of my favorite albums, Music To Put Your Head in the Oven By and that was certainly lively, in ping-pong stereo, for those who remember that phenomenon. I loved ping-pong stereo – the Dick Schory albums on RCA come to mind. Actually, there were a whole series of ping-pong stereo albums on RCA, called Stereo Action – the sound your eyes can follow. So, while you were listening, the strings on the left would move over to the right and the brass on the right would move to the center, and the harp and percussion would move over to the left. It was wacky sound, all right, all right. In addition to Dick Schory, there was Marty Gold and his Moving Orchestra, Esquivel, Ray Martin, Ornadel, and others. I wonder if any of these have come out on CD – I really must check Amazon and the Tube of You. I know a few other labels did the same thing under other names, as I bought all these kinds of albums. Looks like RCA Spain did a couple of these – hmmm – I wonder if I have them? I’ll have to check when I’m through writing these here notes with the appalling pall. If I find any, I’ll post about them in the posts, which is the best place to post posts.
I did get seven hours of sleep, got up, hoping for the modern MAJOR miracle but those hopes were dashed by 10:01. Can some kind soul tell me when this damn endless retrograde thing is over? Enough is enough is enough is enough. I then did quite a few things that needed doing – book order is placed and books should be here relatively soon, Tammy Grimes and Mein Freund Bunbury are ready and will be picked up this morning and we’ll start shipping them out, I got the shipping gal some more supplies as she was out of boxes – we’re going to have to raise the postage rates again because not only haven’t we raised in two years despite increases in both years, but the boxes are now costing fifty cents more than they used to. It’s just ridic. Anyway, as the pall fell over me and the home environment, I decided I’d have a nice lunch and to that end I ordered the lunch special from Kabuki – it included teri and yaki chicken (with extra sauce), a few veggie tempura things along with one shrimp tempura (I love tempura and whatever the sauce is that you dip it in), three pieces of California roll, tiny salad, and miso soup. Me is so not into miso soup, so that went down the drain, but I ate the rest, using a little white rice with the teri and yaki. It arrived about thirty minutes later, nice and hot, and it really hit the spot, lunch-wise. Then, I just had no energy to do anything else. After the two-hour sleep, I had the little bit of chopped liver that was left, and some gefilte fish with horseradish – gefilte fish is really calorie friendly, sixty for each piece. Then I watched the videos, was lethargically lethargic due to the pall, just sat around not feeling very good, but shortly I’ll go wash all that crap down the drain.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m damn up, I’ll do whatever damn needs doing, I’ll see if there’s any mail at the mail place, I’ll do a little shopping – need Diet Coke again and I’m out of just about everything else, I may get stuff for faux chicken stroganoff or a little cube steak or I was thinking tuna sandwiches, but I think we’re only supposed to eat matzo during Passover like I’m a real practicing Jew or something. The fact that I haven’t been in a temple since I was a Bar Mitzvah, save for one friend’s son’s Bar Mitzvah around 1998 (ironically, at the same temple where I had mine – with the same rabbi yet), and then a few years ago for one of the Kritzerland kids. So, if I want a roll or bread, I’ll damn well have it. I’ll get a progress report on the shipping and other stuff, I’ll eat, and that will be that. And we will not allow the appalling pall to dominate the atmosphere around here, at least we will try our damndest. At some point, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
The rest of the week is more of the same, with a couple of meetings and meals and whatnot.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, check the mail place, do a little shopping, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, not so happy that the miracle wasn’t MAJOR, but grateful there was even the MINOR miracle, and happy to get rid of the damn appalling pall.
