Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to Promesse, Promesse, which, as you might have surmised, is Promises, Promises in Eyetalian. This is the Eyetalian cast recording starring Johnny Dorelli and Catherine Spaak, she of the motion picture Hotel. I’ll bet she was wunderbar in it. I bought this when it first came out on a long-playing record – there are some weird differences, but I liked it especially because it had the wonderful dance music for A Fact Can Be a Beautiful Thing. The show ran two months in Italy and got good reviews. That album is fun and in addition to the mentioned dance music, it also has the intro that precedes Turkey Lurkey Time, so that’s fun. It is, of course, sung in Eyetalian. I included A Fact Can Be a Beautiful Thing as a bonus on the London cast recording of Promises that Kritzerland released. Spaak and Dorelli began a relationship and married. It lasted about eight years. Maybe I’ll issue it one of these fine days. I have to check and see if it was ever released on CD – I don’t think so, but best to check. It is missing a few songs, so I don’t know how interested people would be. I also listened to the Mexican cast album of They’re Playing Our Song, which is enjoyable because the sound is much nicer than the Broadway album, which has always sounded tinny to my ears. Earlier, I was going to watch something but didn’t. I cannot explain why. I was searching things on Prime but then just turned off the TV. I cannot explain why. I just turned the damn TV off and that was that. I just sat there, staring into space and space staring into me. I cannot explain why. I suppose it was that kind of I-cannot-explain-why kind of day. I did get nine and a half hours of good sleep – was up for an hour at seven but fell right back asleep and slept until one-thirty in the afternoon. I got up, answered e-mails, then moseyed on over to the mail place and picked up the other important envelope and a small package, then went to Gelson’s. I ended up getting three hamburger patties – cheap – seven bucks – some hamburger buns, and some shredded lettuce. Shredded Lettuce – that’s the title of my next novel.
I came home and made two hamburgers – they were pretty small patties. I ate them up and they were good but not very filling. Later, I made the third one. I spent two hours on the phone with my health insurance people, trying to make sense of how everything works. I’d gotten a note that I’d be getting a new card in the mail because my Primary Care Provider doctor hadn’t renewed working with the insurance company. They assigned me someone in Culver City, arbitrarily. We changed it to someone local to me. Basically, for a few things you have to call and get approval for a doctor you want, what they call a referral. Happily, the doctor I want to use for the eye problem is on their list, so that’s not a problem and for eye stuff you don’t need their permission. I learned about Urgent Care and how that works, what hospitals one can use, and that with most stuff there is no charge for anything – a couple of things require a small payment, like twenty bucks. The guy I was talking to was very helpful. I’ll get a the new card they sent shortly, but they have to send yet another because we made the change to the closer Primary Care Provider. It’s all Greek to me. I also organized the young people show and sent out a group e-mail to the parents, got the blurb and cast list to the club so they can get the event up on their site and then we can announce it. I’ll give the parents a few days to book first. Because the club is much bigger than our other venues, I’ve told the parents the goal is for them to have eight people attend, if possible. If we meet that goal, which isn’t that difficult given past shows, that will be 120 people and then our regulars will probably be at least forty or fifty and that’s a nice house. That was pretty much it and it was pretty much that and here we are, a mere day away from the fourth of July.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll eat something light but amusing or some amusing but light, I’ll do a bit of writing, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is the fourth of July, and I shan’t be leaving the home environment. I shall be a shut-in, a stay-at-home. I’ll order in food, perhaps even some barbecue, then perhaps I’ll step outside and see if I can see some fireworks somewhere. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any from this house, though. Then I’ll enjoy the long weekend.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat something light but amusing, do a bit of writing, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to know a bit more how the health insurance thing works, although I cannot tell you why.
