Well, dear readers, we had us a pretty anemic Oscar Bash, lower than even last year’s all-time low of fifteen pages. I think that basically reflects the state of the movie industry today. I didn’t end up watching because what I thought would be a free trial wasn’t, so I just followed along on various and sundried Internet sites. It was all predictable until the big Anora wins. I think a lot of people didn’t watch Conclave, which, in my opinion, should have won. I didn’t hate Anora, but it just went on way too long and I don’t care for movies with a lot of drugs. Otherwise, I didn’t really care what won. But I DO enjoy the haineshisway.com commentary and we had almost none. I gather some thought Conan O’Brien was funny – I have never found him funny in the least. I’m sure I’ll see some clips at some point. I did try to watch a motion picture, but I fell asleep and that was that. What I did do was listen to six Eugene Ormandy albums, including the one playing right now, a wonderful performance of Richard Strauss opera music. Ravishing is a word that comes to mind. I got eight hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, had Panda Express for food – it was good – portions were a bit smaller than usual – I think it all depends on who is shoveling it into the container. I had my usual orange chicken and also the sesame honey chicken. Much later, I had a cheeseburger and Filet ‘O’ Fish from McDonald’s as a snack. Sometimes you get lucky and get a good batch and sometimes you don’t. This was a big ol’ don’t. Otherwise, I just puttered around the house doing this and that as well as that and this, not necessarily in that order. So, I suppose it was sort of a ME day. What else can I tell you? There should be something else I can tell you. I’m racking my brain. If I were feeling oily, I’d be fracking my brain, but that’s another story. Der Rosenkavalier music is playing. I love that music and so did Jerry Goldsmith who used that sound world for his score from The Boys from Brazil. I will try to be in bed by one at the latest. We’ll see how successful I am. I certainly was not successful the night before, not getting to bed until four. Can’t do that tonight, however.
Today, I’ll be up by nine-thirty, and then the musical director of Drat! The Cat! is coming by with tracks for act two and also his piano/conductor book. Then I’ll go do my banking, check with the mail place, perhaps pick up some food or eat out, and then I can have a ME day for the duration. Then I may put up the eBook for Vegas Can Be Murder on Amazon.
Tomorrow, I can relax during the day, and then we’re into run-throughs tomorrow night, Wednesday night, and Thursday night, followed by working scenes and songs. Friday we’re off, then we have run-throughs on Saturday and Sunday evenings. It’s all moving so fast right now. I’d love to have another few days, but we’ll do our best to be completely ready for tech, so that we don’t slow down.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by nine-thirty, get the tracks for act two, do banking, go to the mail place, either eat out or bring something light home, and then I’ll just watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What were your favorite Oscar shows, when we all really did enjoy watching? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after having an anemic Oscar Bash here at haineshisway.com.
