Well, dear readers, we made it through last night’s show without too much going awry. Our piano sub was very good, especially considering he had one work session and ran through only a handful of numbers pre-show. There were no major gaffes and I’m sure the audience was unaware of the few things that I, of course, was aware of. The cast was great, and we had a really fun audience. I knew several folks and I always enjoy that. Prior to the show, I had about six hours of sleep but not consecutive due to an allergy attack early in the morning that kept me up for two hours. Once up, I answered e-mails, ordered some penne in pink sauce but no meatball or sausage, just the pasta. That arrived pretty quickly and was excellent. Then I shaved and showered and moseyed on over to the theater, getting there right on time – 5:45, which was when the pianist was supposed to arrive. But there must have been some miscommunication somewhere, because he didn’t arrive until 6:35. We immediately ran the main songs for our leads, then the comic duet in act two for Alice’s parents, then the ensemble opening number, Dancing with Alice, A Pox Upon the Traitor’s Brow and Today is a Day for a Band to Play. Then we did the show. Lots of lovely comments afterwards. I came right home and ordered clam chowder and side Caesar salad from BJ’s and that arrived thirty minutes later, whilst I was catching up on Internet things. And now, I am writing these here notes whilst listening to Mr. Ormandy and cellist Leonard Rose do Lalo’s cello concerto. Very nice it is, too. And that was pretty much it.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll eat something very light – thinking of matzo ball soup from a deli – then I may watch a movie in the afternoon, depending on what time I get up. At some point, I’ll shower and then I’ll leave here around four-thirty, as I have to stop at the mail place and see what’s what and they close at five, unless I wait and do that on Sunday before the matinee – that may be easier. I think a few of us may go out after the show – we shall see – and that’s IF I attend the show, which I’m just not sure about.
Tomorrow, I’ll definitely attend the matinee, as I know quite a few folks who are coming. Then next week will be very busy catching up on a ton of stuff as we head into our final two weeks. And now, Mr. Ormandy and Mr. Rose are doing a Saint-Saens cello concerto. The final piece on this CD is a lovely Faure piece called Elegie.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat something light, maybe watch a movie, shower, maybe go to the mail place and maybe see the show and maybe go out for a bite after. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite things to eat at a classic Jewish deli? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that last night’s show was soldiered through without many bumps.
