TALKING TRASH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I think it’s either high or low time we were talking trash.  Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it is high or low time we were talking trash.  The reason for this is simple: Yesterday afternoon, I decided to walk to the bank to do some banking, which is something I like to do when I go to the bank.  And then I decided to walk to Jerry’s Deli and have some chicken soup because I was kind of feeling a little icky and I thought chicken soup would be a good preventative.  As I walked, I was astonished at the amount of trash on the sidewalk, everything from candy wrappers to coffee cups to whatever else people couldn’t be bothered to dispose of in one of the many trash cans that line Ventura Blvd. every few feet.  Yes, the entitled of Studio City think it’s perfectly fine to just dump whatever they wish on the sidewalk.  I suppose it’s always gone on, but I just have never seen quite the proliferation of it.

After I had my soup and a bagel, I walked home, this time taking the little tiny street that runs in back of Jerry’s.  On that walk, I passed a McDonald’s bag and all the paraphernalia that was within it – hamburger wrappers, fries holder – just nauseating.  I passed more coffee cups, more empty bags, a newspaper.  So, let me just state the obvious to the morons who are doing this: Note to morons – the world and this neighborhood is not your personal trashcan.  Have a little respect, why don’t you, you ignorant pigs.  End of rant and talking trash.

Yesterday was kind of a day, I suppose.  I did get nine hours of blessed sleep.  I woke up with the very back of my throat feeling a bit sore, but I was pretty sure it was due to the way I’d slept and some phlegm buildup.  That proved to be correct when the soreness went away after a couple of hours.  But just for safety’s sake, because I was around someone at our launch party who two days later came down with the flu, I popped some Coldeez and took some Airborne and, of course, had the chicken soup.  I did some work on the computer, chose the last of the changed songs for the Sherman Brothers show in New York, and then finally took my walk.  The reason for the walk was because once again the Hollywood Buttcheeks were here shooting something on my street, and literally had two whole blocks’ worth of parking spaces shut down.  I’m going to call on Monday about it – because they’re not supposed to be able to do that – they always have to leave one side or the other open.

Once back home, I relaxed until it was time for me to go to my early dinner meeting, which took place at my beloved Eclectic Café.  I had my penne Bolognese and a little Caesar salad, both good.  The meeting was fun and went well and after it I came directly home.  It was my intention to then sit on my couch like so much fish and watch a motion picture, but waiting for me in an e-mail attachment was the packaging for Sandy’s new CD.  That was something I could not resist, so I downloaded it and printed everything out and spent the next two hours meticulously proofing everything, meaning all the text.  And there’s a lot of text.  Doug Haverty did his usual great job – it’s a stunning package, really, with gorgeous photographs of Sandy (how beautiful is this woman), and I’m even in a couple of them and I actually don’t hate them too much (the ones I’m in).  I’m even allowing one photo of me where I’m actually smiling so you can see my actual teeth – a rarity these days.  Once I’d proofed everything, I then called Doug and talked him through all the little fixes.  An hour later he sent the fixed packaging back to me and on to Sandy.  I did find three other little punctuation things in the lyrics section, and we fixed those, too.

Today, I don’t think I have any plans.  I’ll do some errands and whatnot, maybe take a little drive, eat, hopefully pick up some packages, but mostly relax and take care of myself.  Not sure if anything’s happening in the evening.

Tomorrow there’s something happening at three o’clock but I cannot remember what it is.  If it comes back to me then I may go to whatever it is.  If it doesn’t, oh well.  Then on Monday we have our first Kritzerland rehearsal, plus Jenna Lea Rosen, who is not in the next show, is coming by to rehearse a duet with Sami for one of the New York shows, just so we can do a little staging.  The rest of the week is meetings and meals, and then we have our second rehearsal, our stumble-through and our sound check and show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, maybe jog if I’m feeling up for it, do errands and whatnot, take a drive, eat, hopefully pick up some packages, and then relax and see if the evening holds anything interesting.  Today’s topic of discussion: What are your big bugaboos that people do that you wish they would not do, that really irk you?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall not be talking trash.
