ZOOM

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it’s already Thursday in a week that has zoomed by. Yesterday was yet another day that went by very quickly. The morning started with a barrage of phone calls, then I got some writing done, then I had to attend to some errands that needed attending to, and then I had to have another barrage of phone calls. Then I had dinner with Tammy Minoff, who brought me a few What If items I needed. Speaking of What If, I’m finally going to see the video footage at some point in the next day or two – I’ll make some decisions and then an editor is going to put it together for me. I’ll let you know how it all looks. Tonight I’ll be going to Mr. Grant Geissman’s home environment to do a small fix that the publisher needs to have done (the headers are a quarter of an inch off their specs and we need to adjust them). They’ll get the new file on Friday, hopefully, and they should be able to instantly print me out a galley, which I will hopefully instantly approve, and then they will send me a test copy of the book a week later, and then, after approving that, I can place my order. I should have books in hand by the first week of November, and the website for ordering should be up and running by then. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Last night, I finished watching Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11. I am not a huge fan of Mr. Moore’s work, but I must say that this film was pretty compelling and had less of his “manipulations” than his previous films. In addition to it being compelling, it is completely shocking on many occasions. My only complaint about the film is that Mr. Moore gets in his own way occasionally, and sometimes seems afraid to just let the footage and the facts speak for themselves without his constant nudging or, worse, his comedy grandstanding (the Bonanza spoof – completely unnecessary). It’s a little over two hours and it just flies by. Some of the footage from Iraq is very hard to watch and is not for the weak of stomach. I found the extras on the DVD to be a disappointment, but there are some nuggets to be found if you’re patient. I think the film is Mr. Moore’s best, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because frankly these days are zooming by so fast I cannot tarry or dally, not necessarily in that order.

Did you know that zoom is mooz spelled backwards? Where else on all the Internet can you find out such things as that? I like the word mooz better than zoom, don’t you? Did you know, for example, that the cowz, who are not yet home, occasionally mooz? Did you know that I have no clew as to what the hell I’m talking about?

Did you know that I bought two new pairs of shorts yesterday? Did you know that I bought two new shirts yesterday? Today I must go through all this mail that’s laying on my counter – some bills to pay and some things to mail back to people. It’s horrifying how all that stuff just piles up in a matter of days.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go hither and thither and maybe, just maybe, I shall go yon as well. I must write, I must do the small book fix (which, in truth, will probably take a few hours), we must design and layout the rest of the book cover, and at some point I must find time to stuff some food down my gaping maw as the day zooms by like an ice-skating gazelle in heat. Today’s topic of discussion: I’m sure we’ve done this a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but let’s do it again – of all the places you’ve never been in the world, where would you most like to go and why? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, as we watch the day zoom by.
