BREAKING NEWS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is Wednesday. And they say this site is all fluff. We serve up hard information here at haineshisway.com. In other breaking news, the Floor Men should be here bright and early to put the carpet back the way it was, and to move the dresser and its accoutrements back into the bedroom. Hopefully, that will be the end of the workers for some time to come. In other breaking news, I got quite a bit done yesterday – I got most of the corrections and fixes entered (I have fifty plus pages to go), and I spent time with Mr. Grant Geissman listening to the latest tracks for the Guy Haines album. He only has five more to do, then we bring in the musicians for a couple of days, then we’ll start doing the vocals. It’s all coming together very nicely. I spent the rest of the day catching up on e-mails and phone calls. I tell you, these are the hard news stories you’ve come to expect from haineshisway.com. Nowhere else on all the Internet can you get the latest dish on the Floor Men.

Last night I watched a motion picture entertainment on DVD entitled Finding Neverland. I’d heard nothing bad about this film, and I’m happy to report that I enjoyed it very much. It’s actually quite touching at times, and the actors are all very good. I could have done without a few of the showier directorial flourishes, which kept taking me out of the movie, but other than that, it’s a sweet film and well worth seeing. The DVD transfer is not reference quality, but it’s very nice. The sound is excellent and really presents the Oscar-winning score well. Best of all, the film is not padded and the music doesn’t nudge you every two seconds and doesn’t overdo the sentiment.

What am I, Ebert and Roeper all of a sudden? Don’t we have some more hard information to impart, or should we move right to the soft information? Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below so we can see what news stories are in the next section.

Funny, I don’t see any news, hard or soft, in this section. Well, no news is good news, isn’t that what they say? Actually, has anyone really heard “they” say that no news is good news? Has anyone really heard “they” say anything? I think “they” gets a lot more credit than they are due, don’t you?

For the last two days I have had a craving for cake. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I have had a craving for cake. And not just any old cake, no sireebob or nosireecalvin, I have had the oddest craving for a classic birthday cake with frosting. Isn’t that strange? I may have to seek out a birthday just so I can steal a piece of cake. Do any restaurants serve birthday cake by the slice? Do any bakeries serve birthday cake by the slice? Or do I have to buy an entire birthday cake, and, if so, where should I buy one. If I buy an entire birthday cake, fear not, I shall eat but one large piece (roughly the size of half the cake) and the rest of the cake I shall hurl at a passing automobile. That is ever so much fun to do, and really takes the driver by surprise. Sometimes you even get lucky and hurl the birthday cake at an automobile whose driver is actually having a birthday.

My goodness, that was an entire paragraph about a birthday cake craving. And they say we’re all about fluff. News is a dish best served with birthday cake. Well, we’ve got the news and we will soon have the cake. You can have your news and eat it, too.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must finish the corrections and fixes, I must drive about in my motor car looking for birthday cake, I must pick up a package or three, and I must sit on my couch like so much fish and watch motion pictures. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers, as well as loads of lovely breaking news posts.
