Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written as an emergency precaution, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently having an eMOOgency.
-
And the word of the day is: VELLEITY!
-
And one for MOOler - as the cows are wont to say.
-
One GUEST was looking at an old thread from October of 2004 - there was Francois and Jay, and especially there was young dear readers Jenny and Maya - I'd love to know how the latter two are doing. I know Francois is alive and well because he ordered Anya.
-
That's nice...about François, I mean. :)
-
Well, I need to go to bed now. I'm going to a matinée of Footloose and need to get up earlier than I really want to...for a Sunday.
Good night, BK.
-
At the risk of being bitch-slapped, I have nothing noteworthy to add at this time.
-
I got up so early on Saturday morning that I climbed into bed at 6 p.m. and went to sleep.
-
So, of course, here I am up in the middle of the night.

BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH!
The Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martias) is the name of the date 15 March in the Roman calendar. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day of the other eight months. In Roman times, the Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held. In modern times, the term Ides of March is best known as the date that Julius Caesar was assassinated, in 44 BC, the story of which was famously dramatized in William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar.

WARNING WARNING DANGER WILL ROBINSON
HOWARD THE DUCK IS FINALLY BEING RELEASE ON DVD!!
I think it is one of the worst movies I ever saw in all the years I have been going to the cinema.
The following blurb makes it sound if it is a classic!
One of the most talked-about movies of all time, Howard the Duck, lands on DVD for the first time ever in an all-new Special Edition! From executive producer George Lucas and the pages of Marvel Comics comes this unbelievably funny comedy about a fast-talking, cigar-chomping, beer-loving duck from a parallel universe who crashes to Earth. Featuring brand-new bonus features, a digitally remastered picture and new 5.1 surround sound, Howard the Duck Special Edition is a hidden treasure the whole family can enjoy.

I can' t believe it's only 8:30am. I've been up for hours!
I just noticed that tonight on tv is very busy at 10pm. In canada in addition to Brothers & Sisters, Celebrity Apprentice, we also have tuesday's Mentalist and Damages!
-
Hi all, I'm hoping to start catching up on the past week when things calm down later today.
-
And since I got the OK from the tax office to take a quick trip to visit my parents (with my brother and sister-in-law) in Florida Wednesday the 18th through Friday the 20th, I kind of agreed with the office that I'd give more time until Tuesday the 17th to minimize any problems while I'm gone.

I apologize for missing a few of BK's blogs over the past few weeks, but I've been mostly tied up with my move.
However, today I read (probably old news for most) that BK is going to release the score for ILLYA DARLING...which brings back a personal memory.
When that show was nominated for several Tony's, composer Manos Hatzidakis hired me to set up a press conference, so that he could refuse his nomination. [He had already won an Oscar for the main song in the movie version, NEVER ON SUNDAY.]
For the life of me, I can't recall his reasons for refusing the nomination, but the Tony people didn't take his name off of the list, nor did he win.
I recall that Manos spoke very little English and that his translator was Stathis Giallelis (AMERICA, AMERICA).
-
Good morning, all! When I awoke at 9 am, I was having a peculiar dream about getting from Miami University Summer Theatre - or was it the williamstown Theatre Festival? - to a funeral in San Francisco and trying to locate my parents. It was all very strange.
This morning, I shall finish typing up my Act One Scene Three corrections, print them out, and turn the megillah in tomorrow. After that, I've got some BAABES IN TOYLAND housecleaning to accomplish and an invoice to write up for two weeks' worth of edits, housekeeping, and rude phone calls.
Yesterday, my OP copy pf Brooks Atkinson's BROADWAY: A HISTORY arrived and I spent the evening perusing it and continuing the Suskin book.
To work!
-
If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve.
-
Lovely story from DR SAM last night. Very interesting in many ways.
-
Of course today is a work day. Yesterday after I emailed FACEBOOK about NOT being able to find my Groups link on my home page (you have to click Applications at the bottom of the screen, I figured out) - I got a email response thanking me for my feedback and telling me that because they get SO MANY emails, they can't respond to them, but they DO read them.
I sent them something to read!
-
Of course I am working today. Oh well.
-
Good morning, everyone.
Bandit woke me up at 6 am to let me know he wanted to go out. No surprise, but not exactly welcome, either. We have since had our morning walk, I've had something to eat, and am now waiting to hear when DF&H will be discharged from the hospital. I am also doing more laundry.
-
Has anyone ever written an autobiography based on their dreams? I think Larry could--and it'd be fascinating. MY LIFE IN DREAMS or something like that.
-
Bandit sends greetings to all our HHW pets.
-
I send greetings to Merlin (and Jack).
-
Thanks DR JEANNE!
-
No novel here based on anything - yet!
-
TAR in Siberia tonight in swim attire!

DR GEORGE is going to see FOOTLOOSE onstage....did he lose a bet?
-
Dixie Bell is napping near the computer, I'm listening to the new Michael Ball cd (Past and Present) and each time Michael hits a high note, Dixie Bell pricks up her ears and stares at the computer. . .
-
Good morning all. It is currently snowing outside my window, and everything is covered in white. It is also March, last time I checked. Hmmm.
-
Yesterday I joined my sister, who is a former dancer and a big fan of dance, at the Pacific Northwest Ballet to watch them perform a Broadway Festival. It started out with Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, did a Carousel set, then a Dave Brubeck set, and finished with a spectacular West Side Story set.
-
Sounds GREAT DR ANN!!!
-
Dixie Bell has good taste, DR td.
-
Slaughter on Tenth Avenue was really fantastic. It is, to the best of my recollection, lifted almost directly out of the show, and the PNB dancers were spot on in their performance.
Carousel was a bit, well, bland. But that could be because I'm not a huge fan of Carousel in general. Also, the pas de deux was such a melancholy number, reflecting the relationship between Bill and Julie as it is in the show. However, if one was not familiar with Carousel (like my sister) the effect was more confusing that emotionally moving. However, the dancers were spectacular, so it was still enjoyable.

The lunar orb finds solace by forming a flowing trine to breakthrough planet Uranus (12:19PM PDT). This alignment can give you a boost with high-tech interests and computer work. More worrisome is the Moon square to Neptune at 4:49PM PDT that can coincide with a rising tide of confusion and uncertainty. This doesn't have to be too severe, but keep a low profile around this time to be on the safe side. Inspirations can leap into your mind when the Sun and Moon form a harmonious trine in water signs at 5:44PM PDT. Tap into your creative and artistic abilities as this alignment reaches exactitude.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!
Will there be wearing o' the green? Will there be eating of green bagels?
Oops! Spoo! You're early, me lad.
Pull out Judy Garland singing "It's a Great Day for the Irish" and you'll hear in the lyrics "Don't you know that today's March 17?/ It's the day for the wearin' of the green!"
-
The Dave Brubeck dance, entitled "Take Five...more or less" was one of my favorite parts. It used Take Five, Blue Rondo, and a third Brubeck song that i can't remember for the life of me...but Blue Rondo is one of my favorite piano pieces ever, so I really enjoyed listening to it, and I loved the dance that was choreographed to go with it.
West Side was...well, I just love West Side Story so much that it's hard to miss. They had the dancers actually do a bit of singing, which was a bit interesting at times. Still, when the entire cast broke into Somewhere at the end, I had goosebumps all up and down my arms.
All in all, really a fun time. I hadn't been to a ballet in many years, and I forgot that I really do enjoy watching dance.
(there, I have contributed more posts by breaking it up in sections!)
-
Good morning!
Another cold, gray, bleak morning here. More rain, too. We've had well over an inch this weekend.

DR ANN - I agree that there is nothing like GOOD DANCING!!! And of course nothing quite as terrible as BAD DANCING.

I can understand bk's frustration when the internet is down which just goes to show how much it has burrowed into our lives. When my DSL went down twice in a month, I was frantic. I mean, my work depends on having access to the internet at some point, and when that was taken away, I immediately began worrying about how I'd be able to get reviews posted in a timely fashion.
Plus, I stay in touch with friends much more through the internet now than I do via telephone.
-
As I mentioned last night, I'll be working on BOLT today, the SD version. Should make for a pleasnt but undemending afternoon.
-
Page Three Dance!!!
-
I hope Time Warner (bk's nemesis) has put up WEdnesday night's DAMAGES on the HD Showcase channel by now. When I checked yesterday afternoon, it hadn't been put up yet, and that has kind of become my Sunday lunch program.
If it's not up, I'll watch Wednesday night's LAW & ORDER as I eat lunch.

The 1967-68 season was one of the weakest in Tony history. None of the four nominated shows ended up being a hit and actually all ran less than a year and had huge losses (for the time): HALLELUJAH BABY (the winner), THE HAPPY TIME (which should have won), HOW NOW DOW JONES, and ILLYA DARLING.

I watched BOLT the other night and almost turned it off after the first 5 minutes, because it looked like it was another mindless superhero movie. Then, thankfully, it was revealed to be a movie-within-a-movie.
We really enjoyed it. Very entertaining.

This Time/Warner thing concerns me, primarily since that's the service we're going to have in Austin (internet, phone, tv),. None of the other providers are available in our new development yet. So, if one goes out, they all go out.
We are, however, going to get a land line for the FAX (which will also have a handset). At least, we won't be completely cut off in an outtage.

Dixie Bell has good taste, DR td.
:D
(she does like "Love Changes Everything," but my favorite Michael Ball recording is NOT on PAST AND PRESENT: "Walking in Memphis.")

I love the score for THE HAPPY TIME. I saw the show with Goulet/Wayne...and a very young Michael Rupert...when it tried out here before going to New York. I think they cut/replaced one number for Broadway.

I saw the show in NYC at the cavernous Broadway Theatre. I think it was the first Broadway show I ever went to (going back to 1958) that there were lots of seats along the side sections that were empty, so I knew watching it that the show hadn't caught on. I fell instantly in love with the charismatic Goulet, and was so very impressed with Michael Rupert's touching, sincere portrayal. David Wayne, of course, stole all of his scenes and numbers.
I adored it, and still consider it one of the most criminally underrated Broadway shows ever. I think Gower Champion misread the material and tried to turn it into a HELLO DOLLY supermusical instead of the smaller almost chamber piece it was. I'm convinced if it had played at, say, the Music Box or even a smaller theater like the Booth, it would have had a long, happy run. But it was too small a show for the huge Broadway Theatre.

Now, I need to tend to a few housekeeping chores in my office and then head down to get laundry sorted and lunch started.

I have always been intrigued by one of the songs that was cut after the opening of The Happy Time. It wasn't on the OC recording and as far as I know it hasn't been recorded by another artist.
The song is
Being Alive
four years before Sondheim wrote his song.

The song that I recall being cut was a "Happy Birthday" kind of number that had all of the cast members rolling their own big birthday cake (with lit candles) onto the stage.
BTW: Does anybody know what the show's co-star, Julie Gregg, is doing these days?
I know she was in THE GODFATHER and the movie of MAN OF LA MANCHA, but I've lost track of her.
She used to be a publicity client. A very beautiful/talented lady.

Another slow day at HHW?
-
I'm up, I'm up.
-
Where's MISS KAREN?? RON P???
-
Well, BK is here.
-
I saw The Happy Time at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion back when it was trying out. I thought there were really good things in it, especially some of Gower's choreography, of which I was a huge fan. But something about it didn't work even for me at my relatively young age.
-
In his jammies, I see.
-
Shayne, I spoke of Howard The Duck in the notes a week or two ago.
-
I don't think this day has figured itself out yet, weather-wise.
-
Manos Hadjidakis shouldn't have been refusing anything.
-
When he writes his music down by hand, it's The Hands of Manos.
-
I'm on a roll.
-
I've got about twenty orders here that have come in since we've addressed packages, so I'll have to get those packages ready today, otherwise I'm not doing ANY work.
-
I think I slept almost eight hours.
-
Can someone tell me how to do this "group" thing on Facebook - I want to send a message to all my friends and I don't know how to group them.
-
Manos Hadjidakis shouldn't have been refusing anything.
You weren't a fan?
-
He was okay - they were all VERY political - Mercouri gave a SPEECH opening night, all political. It does get tiresome.
-
I've been procrastinating on the jog because it just looks so chilly out.
-
I suppose I could take a break, but maybe I'll just go do it - I have to be at my designer's at noon, though, so if I'm going now is the time to go.
-
At long last page four.
-
I just finished typing up the Act one corrrections for THE MOST HAPPY FELLA. I need to run out, post the invoice, take my walk, hit the grocery, stop at Staples for printer ink and come back to BABES IN TOYLAND fixes. Posting the invoice is my favorite part of every job.
-

At this time of year it is very nice you get to take the time off. Have fun.

Has anyone ever written an autobiography based on their dreams? I think Larry could--and it'd be fascinating. MY LIFE IN DREAMS or something like that.
I could write a whopper of a dream autobiography except I don't want anyone reading my dreams.

HOWARD THE DUCK was a great comic book and a terrible movie!
-
I am treating myself to a nice India lunch this afternoon and upon my return I will continue with my cleaning...yesterday the bedroom...today the living room closet which needs major purging and rearranging.

But before I go, I leave you with what is certainly not the most subtle Bollywood movie poster I have ever seen.

Did the long jog (and it was indeed very chilly out), and shall now drop off the Illya Darling material.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... -At least least it's still morning in bk-Land at the time that I am posting this post.
-
Good Afternoon!
When I got back to the apartment last night, I noticed that the bed frame seemed a bit "off". It looked like it wasn't set up properly. Since it was already late, and I was already tired, I decided just to take care of whatever needed taking care of in the morning. So, after I got up this morning, I took one more look at the bed frame.
I removed - well, pushed - the mattress off, and then the box spring. It turned out that the bed frame was set up properly, however, it wasn't square. Consequently, the box spring wasn't sitting properly, flat in the bed frame, which, of course, meant that the mattress was also a bit askew. After making the proper adjustments, I put everything back in its place, and... Voilá! A "new bed"!
I've been sleeping rather well the past couple of nights, and I'm hoping that "fixing" the bed doesn't cause me to sleep "not well" now. ;)

bk - How often do you have your computer set up to check for and notify you of new updates? Normally, that's a once a week function, but you can set it up to check and notify you more often if you'd like. -In other words, don't "blame" the computer. ;)
Apple -> System Preferences -> System -> System Updates

DR Druxy - Be sure to add/follow @melissaTWC_TX on Twitter. She's new to TW's Twitter team, and she is the Regional Director of Communications for the Texas region.

Good morning all. It is currently snowing outside my window, and everything is covered in white. It is also March, last time I checked. Hmmm.
Well, just remember, Winter doesn't technically end until next week. ;)
-
I have been somewhat E&T as I have spent a wonderful day and a half with celtic superstar John Doan, who was up here performing as part of the concert series I'm hosting. An incredible musician (harp guitar--a lovely, little known instrument) and a super nice guy, to boot.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Richard and I were on the road to Lima shortly after 7am and arrived at the church a little over 2 hours later. He presided over morning prayer and then we enjoyed coffee & cake with the attendees. We are now home and ready for naps.
-
In other news...
I stopped into Cupcake (http://www.freshcupcakes.com/index.html) earlier this afternoon for some, well, cupcakes. Red Velvet and Chocolate/Strawberry to be exact. Good cupcakes, and most definitely meant for the Frosting Lovers of the world.
*I'm still trying to figure out why the "cu" in their logo is pink, while the "pcake" is brown. ???
-
Nap well, DR Ginny. Nap well!

I also completed my shopping mission today too, and bought a new pair of jeans at Banana Republic. Alas, they ended up costing more than $5.00, but still less than $10.00 after the Friends & Family discount and the gift card. -However, if I had bought them in NYC with the discount and gift card, then they would have come in just under $5.00 since there's no tax on clothing in NYC. I almost thought the cashier had added some sort of surcharge to my purchase for using the gift card, but then when I looked at the receipt... Nevermind...
-
So... I just checked my rehearsal schedule for the rest of this week... Due to the performance schedule of the RAs, I'm off Thursday and Friday. And since there's a "Turner to Cézanne" (http://www.columbiamuseum.org/programs/exhibitions.php?exID=41) exhibit currently running at the Columbia Museum of Art... Hmm... Although, there's still plenty of places I'd like to check out here in Charleston too.
-
After reviewing the BD of QUO VADIS (distinctly better than the SD-DVD, I'm happy to say, but still not perfect), I got to wondering if the "secret" FSM release might be that.
-
But would that be a Holy Grail for BK?
-
Can someone tell me how to do this "group" thing on Facebook - I want to send a message to all my friends and I don't know how to group them.
Do you want to send something to ALL of your FB friends or just some of them?
The easy way is just to "Inbox -> Compose New Message" - and then just start typing and/or selecting people's names.
Now, if you want to group people, then:
"Friends -> Make a New List (along the left hand side) -> then start typing and/or selecting which FB friends you wish to group together."
-You could also write and post a new "Note", and then all of your friends will receive a notification that you've posted a new note. -That is if they've elected and selected to receive such notifications.
Now... If you want to FORM a Group, well, that's a totally different thing. Just type in "Group" in the "Search/Help" box and click-through to the instructions you desire. *I think a "Kritzerland" Fan Page would probably be a good thing to set up sometime.
-
DR Sam - The Bitch-Slap-O-Matic is my own personal pet name for bk's "Bitch-Slapping Machine". If you have to ask, well... It's usually better not to ask, and/or continue not to know. ;)

It is SO chilly here. I've felt a chill IN MY BONES all afternoon. I guess I could have turned the heat up, but I suppose I will later today. I won't be here tonight, so I hate "wasting" heat if I'm not going to be here to enjoy it.

The "warmth" finally returned to Charleston today. -Although, I did have to turn on the heat briefly last night just to take the chill out of the air. Now if the clouds would clear...

Alas, DAMAGES had not arrived on HD Showcase yet (damn!), so I watched WEdnesday night's LAW & ORDER. A good case and, of course, an infuriating decision by the jury.

If the weather forecast is to be believed, we aren't going to get back to spring until Tuesday though I think this will be the last day of rain.

I next watched BOLT on DVD. I tried not to let my remembrance of the Blu-ray version color my opinion of the DVD's sharpness and colors, but it was hard not to compare them in my head (even for a moment).
The nice thing is that the sound on the DVD is Dolby Digital 5.1 EX, so the back surround channel is a very nice addition, and the French and Spanish tracks had it, too.
-
I concluded my afternoon of viewing with another MOONLIGHT episode from disc 4 in the set. Alas, there are only three episodes left. I remembered it (the one where Joseph has to turn Mick back into a vampire) after things started happening, but I honestly began the episode not remembering how long it was going to be before Mick turned back.

Sorry, folks. Don't know why I got the idea that today was St. Patrick's Day. :-\

Good afternoon! It's a beautiful day here. I have the windows open a little. The cats love that.
Today I went shopping, since none of my clothes fit me, and was shocked to see what I can fit in.
I didn't buy much, since I still have 25 pounds to go, but boy, do I look smaller in the right size than in the too big clothes I've been wearing
-
Time to go for a walk. It's very windy, so I probably won't go far but it's also 58 degrees! Worth taking a walk
-
DR Cilla, congrats on the newer clothes. Have fun wearing them before you shrink some more ;)

It really is amazing just how much better and "smaller" you can look in the proper fitting clothes. In fact, one of the reasons I wanted to buy a pair of new jeans today - besides taking advantage of the special discount and gift card - was because I needed a better-fitting, smaller pair of jeans too. It's nice being (back) in that range of waist sizes where they are sized by the inch instead of every two-inches. :)
-
Alas, during my walk, I was not able to procure myself a bottle nor a can of Cheerwine. The local gas station/convenience store only carries Pepsi products, so... Ah, well... -I still have a 12-pack of Diet Cheerwine back at the apartment. ;)
-
OK... Time to get ready for tonight's rehearsal.

It is so warm here today. So nice! The snow is slowly melting. But there is still quite a bit. It was really high. There were even some people on bikes. The bike paths are clear. And the streets seem clear. But with so much snow, i just wonder if i would hit patches of ice.
-
I have to decide what to watch now. I am a bit backed up and still have last week's LIFE and a few others to watch.
Looking forward to TAR! Love that show.

BK:
Joe Capps mentioned you today in response to a mini review of An American In Paris on BD by Robert Harris
Bob, over at Haineshisway.com, Bruce Kimmel constantly complains about Warners transfers of classics without any blue in them. True, American has never been as razor sharp as here (I bought the SD several months ago), But all of the blue seems to be gone from the trasnfer, same with the redone Gigi.
Any omment here, Mr. Harris ?
-
and this was his response
Whatever blue was in the original negatives appears to have been harvested in this scan. I don't know what the SD looks like. Please keep in mind that Technicolor dye transfer re-prints, as opposed to the original nitrates had a rather different look, with heightened color and contrast. Much like comparing silver frame prints of The Ten Commandments from 1956 to those from the late '60s and early '70s. A totally different animal.
Gigi is another story, as the OCN is faded 5248, and additionally problem masters. In order to achieve decent facial tones, yellow must be added, which can do heavy damage to anything blue.
To my eye AAiP looks fine, however.

Yes, the Warners line gets towed. Sorry, American In Paris looks awful, color-wise - no one can tell me otherwise because I've seen and owned too many IB Tech prints to be told otherwise. As to Gigi, please explain why the previous DVD had better color than the current. But those there will believe what they're told and Warners will keep screwing up the color on their classics and fewer and fewer people will care because they believe the Warners line. "I don't know what the SD looks like." Oh?
-
DR Jose, congrats on the smaller pant size :)
-
I was trying to watch a movie but kept falling asleep. I delivered the Illya Darling material, got a Subway sandwich, and ate it all up. Had a note from my mastering guy - there are a couple of tape issues with the tape that was in the water damaged box - they wouldn't be issues at all if the original LP had been decently mixed, but there's no low-end, it's shrill and in trying to fix those problems it brings out a little damage noise. It's only on certain tracks - he's sending me the worst of it and his solutions to deal with it and I'll see how I feel.

From Danise:
I am still out of my house. Tuesday makes 9 weeks and count.
I have turned him into every agency I can think of. I'm told it's just a matter of time before someone helps me but how long that is going to take is beyond me.
I haven't heard back from channel 28 since I got that phone call. I've called back several time but can't seem to reach anyone. Sigh.

I am on a Charles Dickens kick.
What are you reading right now?
I have three chapters remaining in Dan Simmons' DROOD, which I heartily recommend!
Tomorrow's mail should see the arrival of THE D CASE by Carlo Fruttero and Franco Lucentini, another speculative fiction centering around Dickens' unfinished novel.
I'm looking for a good biography of Dickens. Any suggestions?

-
Just heard what was described as the worst of the handful of tracks from the problem tape - and with his EQ it sounds pretty great to me, so we're fine. He did two versions, one without quite so wide a stereo field as the original - that one minimizes any problems (which I don't hear anyway), but I prefer the wider stereo field, frankly.
-
Many, many vibes for DR Danise. That poor gal.

Poor Danise. I guess she didn't say if he is doing any work at all, did she?

Someplace around here is a pretty decent one, if only I could find it. The problem with reading an autobiography about Dickens is that Dickens didn't write it.

Tonight I will begin reading a new book, a very short book. Which means I will shortly be out of something to read. I went on line to our library & placed a hold on three books, included is PEOPLE OF THE BOOK which was highly recommended by DR Ginny,
Ginny, you never said what the rest of your group thought about the book.
-
I discovered if you put a hold on a book they hold it near the front desk with your name on it. All I have to do is walk in, easily find the book & then self check out. If I can find parking it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

Hello 1 guest. I'm lonely, how about stopping in ;)

DR Jane have you tried to read either THE MIDDLE PLACE or THE HOTEL AT BITTER AND SWEET?
Borders is (literally) pushing both of these books down buyers' necks! (Our store is 'required' 11 copies of THE MIDDLE PLACE every week through the middle of April).

When we lived in SLC, my mother's rather clever name for the liquor store was The Fifth Ward (Mormons will both get this and be simultaneously aghast). ;D

Time for TAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the title, HOTEL AT BITTER AND SWEET, is beautiful. I hadn't heard about either book.

I've been sending out Facebook messages which, to my dismay, you can only do twenty at a time. I made a list of all the LA Facebook friends - 209 people and tried to do a mass message - twenty at a time, which means I totally wasted my time making the list. It's really annoying. I've done about 120 of the names now, in batches of twenty, but it's a real pain in the ASS, I must say. Also, I tried to type "groups" in the search box, thinking it would, as Jose said, give me directions on starting a Kritzerland Fan Group - it didn't. If anyone can help me through that, let me know.
-
BK, couldn't you do your mailing as an "Event?" I sent an event out and I was able to send it to 70some people on Facebook at once. . .
-
I'm skipping Desperate Housewives tonight to go and see WATCHMEN. Gotta run. Tata!
-
DR td are the books selling well? They seem to be popular at our library. Middle has 13 holds while Bittersweet has a whopping 22 holds on the 13 books already checked out.
-
Mae-Ling and Wae-Ling showed me the marks from their seat belts sustained in their automobile accident last night. Poor kids. I am sure the seat belts kept them from more serious injuries, though.

Has anyone read or seen DEFIANCE? I finished reading it last night. I found it very interesting.
The author did her research & interviewed a surprising number of people as I didn’t expect them to still be alive. There are 96 pages of notes. Amongst those notes I found a reference to a book called DIARY OF A VILNA GHETTO written by a 13 year old boy. If I can find a copy I plan to read this, he seems to have been very special. To read a little about the Vilna & the author Click Here (http://www.novelguide.com/a/discover/rghl_01/rghl_01_00303.html)

They sound out the words phonetically.

DR Sam, Autumn is beautiful. Having grown up in Southern California I had no idea. The first time I saw Autumn I had tears in my eyes. I never want to live where the leaves don’t change. I miss the colors on the east coast. In Ashland there tend to be more yellows than reds, still it is gorgeous.
I graduated from Hamilton with my DH Keith & DR Penny O. The day after I met them in 10th grade drama class, we all met Bruce who was a year and a half ahead of us.
Bruce you should have only been a year ahead of us, how did that happen?

Tonight I watch a film called Boy Culture that I believe was released about 2 years ago. The cast of mainly unknowns (to me) were excellent as was the writing. Some people may object to the film using a narrator, but it was used interestingly. When he would flash back and the characters spoke they would speak in the voice of the narrator.
It was filmed in Portland and Seattle which is a nice change from LA or NYC.

There's a storm a brewin' at the HTF between Joe Capps and Robert Harris over the color blue or the lack of it in An American In Paris. Harris has challenged Capps to give the time code where he thinks there is lack of blue.
At the time of this posting Mr. Capps has not responded.
To think that this starting with Capps making a comment about BK.
I wonder where this goes.
And oh yes Mr. Capps does read these notes and postings.
-
Mr. Harris is wrong. I like Bob Harris. But he's wrong. An American In Paris is too brown. Gigi is too brown. Most of Warners' transfers are too brown. The one thing he's right about is that the transfer was made from the Tech black-and-white separation masters and you can't just lose the color blue - it has to be a deliberate choice - and it is a deliberate choice being made by people who don't know what these films looked like. He admits that Gigi isn't right but excuses it saying the neg is faded and that to get skin tones that look proper you have to add more yellow, which plays havoc with the other colors. Exactly. And with today's technology you can overcome any fading when working in the digital domain with a colorist who knows what they're doing. And all one has to do is look at the previous DVD of Gigi to know that. No, it's not as sharp, but the color, while not perfect, is much better. Then all one need do is look at the travesty of a transfer of The Searchers, with its green skies. There was a brief moment on a forum where Mr. Harris completely agreed with me on that issue and it's there for all to see. Then he waffled. Then he changed his tune. And the Warners' line gets towed.
-
Finished with my viewing for this evening.

When I got back I watched DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Good episode tonight. I found each of the stories interesting (well, maybe not Orson's stealing so much, but now at least we know why).

I should wussburger. We've got the store's tenth anniversary on Friday - yep, got the press release sent to the local paper. And we've got an ad to get placed in the program for Joan Rivers' concert. That's means a trip into town. That means getting der B up early enough to get errands run.
How I became the point man for doing store publicity, I'm still unclear. Except that I'm the only one who seems to have any idea about how to do these things.
Hasta.

If everyone is nice, maybe der B will post a pic he took today.
Or he could wait until Tuesday.
But he took the pic today.

Glad he did not have a shy bone...

Just droppin' by to say hello.... DFiance is here visiting this week...
-
Vibes to DR Danise....
-
I am going to add another DVD with a bad color transfer. I looked at a friend's copy of The FAr Pavilions on VHS and the colors were much more brilliant and the sky even had a hint of blue. THe DVD DF and I were watching is very washed out. They looked brown.
-
ONe example is on the uniform that the Corp Guides are wearing, you can actually tell it is red on the VHS copy. THe DVD looks like it is red but very washed out. THere is a definite lack of blue. The audio is also up and down on the DVD

Good evening everyone. Must now read notes and posts and catch up. Be back in a few.
-
New notes are written - what a little journey down memory lane they were and I remembered some things I haven't though about in close to forty years.
-
Sounds like I need to plan 30 minutes in the morning to read BK's new notes.
-
Dear Jane: I did not know that you and BK and PennyO all went to Hamilton. It must have been great to all be together.
-
Dear Ginny: Nap ? that's exactly what I did today. I love naps.
-
Dear DAW: I don't think you were early for St. Patrick's Day, everything in the market was green. Green bagels?
-
Dear DAW: also loved the Brides of March pic.
-
Dear Jane: I did not know that you and BK and PennyO all went to Hamilton. It must have been great to all be together.
Jane and I did more than attend Hamilton. We were SWEETHEARTS. Innocent SWEETHEARTS, but SWEETHEARTS nonetheless. And PennyO's uncle Morrie was in business with my father.
-
Dear MichaelS: I like your history updates. All the dates marked on printed calendars seem to be centered around consumers buying things. Never on why the day is noteworthy.
-
Will we never get to page nine?
-
I really must start using Ye Olde Jacuzzi regularly. It just sits there like so much fish, and I do enjoy it so.
-
Dear BK: Memories of friends and innocent sweethearts and sweethearts and highschool are never to be forgotten. My memories still make me who I am. I always believe that's good..
-
hello George
-
word of the day: My velleity to exercise on a regular basis is pointless.
-
I did buy another cd this weekend. Hal Lifson's Sex and the 60's. Was the Noxema commercial meant to be that suggestive, or do I just have a suggestive mind.
-
I know Hal Lifson very well.
-
I did really enjoy listening to all 21 tracks/jaunts down memory lane of the 60's

Our GUESTS seem to be fond of the year 2004 tonight. What a trip back in time. I was still using a PC. Someone asked if the soundtrack to Evening Primrose would ever be released - it had been announced in 2000 but still hadn't come out. I posted that it would never see the light of day. Who knew?
-
I am presently fighting with a graphics program... However I suspect what I want to do this program my not have the capability....
-
Was I still in my old house in early 2004? I think so.
-
I'm tired. I've eaten too many biscotti, but fortunately the ones I bought are really half-biscottis, not full-sized.
-
Well don't really have much else to say. Hope this keeps me off the Bitch-Slap-O-Matic.
-
Nostalgia can sometimes be fun or a fickle visitor... Depends on what the nostalgia is...
-
I haven't used the bitch-slap machine in some time - but it's at the ready.
-
good night everyone, looking forward to BK's notes and the new cd's this week.
-
Do I want some late night Fruity Snacks, yes or no?
-
I'm thinking yes.
-
All I ate all day was a foot-long Spicy Eyeatalian sandwich, a can of Healthy Choice chicken noodle soup (quite good, actually), biscotti and that's it.
-
hello DakotaCelt, you're up late too.
-
nice to meet ya Sam
-
I am thinking of having a few grapes before bed...
-
Do I want red, green or black ones?
-
hello George
Hello, Sam. :)

Well, I just finished watching the last three episodes of "Battlestar Galactica" and the only one left will be the two-hour broadcast of the series finale next Friday. It's ending. :'( I love this show.

I don't know what button I keep pushing by mistake, but somehow I log myself out and then have to log back in. I've done this several times now. It's making me nuts.
-
goodnight everyone, hope all our wishes come true.
-

And now to ketchup...
DR GEORGE is going to see FOOTLOOSE onstage....did he lose a bet?
No, actually. A couple of my friends are in the show. That's why I went. :)

Has anyone ever written an autobiography based on their dreams? I think Larry could--and it'd be fascinating. MY LIFE IN DREAMS or something like that.
I could write a whopper of a dream autobiography except I don't want anyone reading my dreams.
Just change the names to protect the guilty and call it fiction. No one will ever know. ;)

Sigh.

I've been sleeping rather well the past couple of nights, and I'm hoping that "fixing" the bed doesn't cause me to sleep "not well" now. ;)
Can we say "anal retentive"...again??
;D
