TOD: I was in 3rd grade in Seattle, and my teacher came into the room and looked like she had been crying. She sent us all home.
Then I remember that there was nothing on TV for days except the coverage of the assasination and funeral. (My parents had voted for Nixon, but I wanted JFK to win because I thought he was handsome. Even in kindergarten, I would have voted Democrat!)
I also remember a book called "The Torch Is Passed", or something like that. I looked at the pictures in that book for hours. After MLK and Bobby Kennedy were shot, I just figured that's the way things were in the world. My parents never tried to explain any of it to us.
