Umm...

And "American Idol" has definitely jumped the shark. Again. As well as derailed. Big time.

No.

TOD:

I am still in the middle of our very own DR Druxy's book as well as actor Gary Kent's book. Have not had even a moment to continue with either book in weeks, unfortunately  :(

Gary Kent and I had lunch here in Austin a couple of weeks ago.

Although we had many mutual acquaintances, we'd never met before.

I watched ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS which arrived at my house today....in the 2-Disk Roger Corman set.

The commentary was okay - and the good news is that now you can see the movie clearly.

The bad news is - as you may imagine - now you can see the movie clearly.

I just received the copy of TO SIT ON A HORSE that I ordered via Amazon earlier this week.

For a paperback book that was published in 1964, it's in great shape.

I'm home! Today's edits were a lot of fun. On my way downtown I stopped at the pharmacy for my meds, then I walked to the Juilliard Bookstore to pick up a score for Messiaen's QUARTET FOR THE END OF TIME.

I've got a few things to do before I start my tax tallies.

Back from Xeroxing, delivering, shipping, and picking up one package.  Now I think I'll write a few pages.

From Dakota:

Picked up a new book on Northern Great Plains folklore and folkways. One of the authros I had as a professor for several classess over the years. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my contributions to the folklore database he has used in the book.

I noted my name in the back of the list of collectors whose work he used.

Nice! :)

And over 90 other books on my Sony E-Reader.

;D

BTW I am surprised how much I like the Nook, the one you returned.  Was it the Kindle you replaced it with?

I'm reading The Lacuna.  Don't love it-don't hate it.  I'm about 1/2 way through.

About half way through I began to get a bit board.  It picked up again later, for me anyway.

I never bought the Nook. I just tried it in the store. I have a Sony e-reader and I love it. It's very easy to use (it has a touch screen). It has wi-fi and it's easy to load books, categorize them and read them. I can make notes and there is a dictionary (there is more than one but I use the English dictionary). I can also play music if I want to (thought that uses more battery power).

I thought you had purchased & returned it.  I haven't seen the Sony one & will be sure to check it out if I do.  I believe our Nook does everything you mentioned, not that I know how to do more than use the dictionary & save my page.

The other day when we went to Best Buy (I'm very happy we finally have one) I saw Kindles for sale & was surprised it had a keyboard.  I didn't even bother picking it up.

I've done about six pages.  Listening to music for a bit, then will try to do four more before dinner, so that when I get back I can just relax.

I recall loving the novelization of HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS.

I have actually seen that book before....

It is rumoured that there is a movie version in the works with Johnny Depp playing Barnabas.

I do recall the version from the early 1990s with Ben Cross as Barnabas. I felt the show never got a chance to really find an audience

On the subject of novelizations, a number of shows novelized their scripts inluding Days, Another World, Guidnig Light, ATWT and the Doctor Who Series

I have quite a few DW ones

Why would the keyboard keep you from picking one up?

Back from the interview. It was a little perfunctory, which means I think it went well. (I was told at the beginning it would only be 30 minutes and it was.) I should hear in a day or two.
