I've been paging through the Bridal Edtion and there are a lot of the old receipes that I remember having as a kid.  Nothing fancy--just good food.

Jane-

I hope that you and Keith had a Great Thanksgiving. What did you guys do?

Thank you.  I hope you did as well-details please :)

Bryan was going to come here.  Since he has a paper to write & I wanted to get away & rest my wrist, we decided to go there at the last minute.

I didn't rest my wrist but we did have a lovely time.  Bryan, as always, cooked us up a great gourmet meal.  He planned a nice dinner but nothing during the day for me to munch on.  I asked if we could get something light.  Bryan instead  innovated us with wonderful appetizers.

I began the day with hot chocolate and then progressed to three kinds of hummus with baked pita chips & sliced carrots.

We then had a white bean dip (whole beans) Followed by sliced apples with cheese.

Dinner began with pumpkin soup with potatoes & leaks & Bryan's fresh onion broth base-oh so good & salad.  We then progressed to rice cakes, cooked like risotto & then rolled in a bread crumbs, panko & parmesan mixture before frying.  These were topped with a delish capinata (eggplant).

For dessert Bryan threw together an interesting cake.  Bryan rarely uses a recipe & I find it amazing this cake came out.  He saw some cherries, the kind used in fruitcakes & figured he would make a fruit cake of his liking.  He tossed in pumpkin, flour, eggs, soda, ginger, fruit, rum & I don't know what else.  Then he topped the cake with a cream cheese rum frosting & topped it with grated coconut.  I'm still eating leftovers.

It was a fun day.

Sadly, the owner of the Swedish Chef Hat has a job and cannot travel.

Does she like this job better than the last one?  What is it?

WELCOME DR DanisesNiece!
 [/size]  [/b]

I’m so very pleased you have joined us.  We think very highly of your aunt & were so very happy when you & your family reconnected with her.

My youngest son lives in Pittsburg, until May anyway when he graduates.  It is nice there.  We enjoyed driving through areas with the beautiful old buildings & mansions.

oh, I don't think I told you all about Bear.  He fell out of bed this morning.  I don't know what happened exactly because I was asleep when it happened.  I just woke up when he hit.

I was so scared that he hurt his hip/back/leg.  He seems ok but is moving a bit slow.

That is the first time that has ever happened that I know of.

Danise, not only is his cooking incredibly tasty, it is presented beautifully.  I have a photo of the hummus to be posted later, when I'm back on the main computer.

Yes. She is happy with this one.

Because of the need for internet safety, she does not want to say specifically where she works.

Did you give Bear some aspirin?

Yes and it seems to have helped.  He is laying on the pad I bought for him in the kennel.  He just seems to want to stay close to me for whatever reason so I pull it next to where ever I'm sitting.

My poor old man.

Well, being happy with the job is 90% of it.  Lord knows it is horrible to have to go to someplace that you hate.

Poor baby.  I'm sure he scared himself.

Glad the necklace was a hit :)

When I eat out I love to save half the meal for leftovers the next day.

Wednesday night we went to one of our favorite Indian restaurants.  We ordered load of food figuring Bryan could take the leftovers home, but there weren't any.  It was soooo yummy.

this restaurant has the bonus factor of a nice parking lot so we could leave Sherlock in the car during dinner.

I try to save half for the next day when I'm working.

I think it did scare him.  I just wish I knew what happened.  He does have bad dreams from time to time.  He cries like a little baby and kicks like a mule in his sleep.

And now I believe I shall go over and feed the fish in the fountain. I wonder what interesting things I may find over there.

I've really gotten to enjoy leftovers at different times of the day.   Turkey and salad at 2 am, mashed potatoes and cranberries at 8 am.   We'll see what's next.

I think TOD has been food hankerings.   Welsh Rarebit--- why I have no idea, but I've had it 3 times this week.

Danise, sometimes dogs, and even cats, roll off the bed.  I bet all my pets have done so at some point in their lives.   Sherlock did it a few weeks ago.

Well, I'm still working on my Christmas cards.  I'll be back later!  :)

I left out an ingredient from the cake, molasses.  I just discovered coffee ice cream is tasty with the left over cake.  I brought home a big chunk minus the frosting.  I prefer my frostings without liquor in them.
