Back from the long jog.  Had a little drizzle at about the halfway point, but it was only about three minutes in duration.  It felt good to do it, but it sure wasn't easy after two days off.

Was there any mention of Tom Collichio giving the heimlich maneuver to Alice Waters at one of the Inaugural dinners earlier this week?

The drive up was uneventful and pleasant, and I tried - for the first and last time - something called a "Crab Pretzel". ::)

And, now, I have some casino carpets to document, and some money to lose. Although, since it's the weekend, the table minimum is $10.00, I'll probably just watch more than bet.

No - I didn't think of that - and there is a jar in the 'frige. Shoot!

DR Matt H I felt the same way about BURN NOTICE.  It sure is nice to have the show back.

When these shows come back after a while away, it's just like getting acquainted with friends all over again. I'm sure I'll feel this way on Monday when THE CLOSER comes back.

I watched Thursday night's SUPERNATURAL while I ate lunch. A really wonderful episode about old magicians getting a new lease on life. Barry Bostwick and John Rubenstein played two of the older generation of magicians. A creepy episode with a deadly tarot deck. Beware, DR JRand! :)

I watched another episode of THE INVADERS. The aliens were trying to take over a publication syndicate by killing a man obviously modeled on Henry Luce.

The next one has William Smithers, Michael Tolan, and Michael Constantine as guest stars. I didn't quite finish it. It'll be the first order of business when I go back downstairs.

No, because that did not happen...exactly...

Tom Colicchio, Master of the Universe, Saves a Life

Scene: A party for the Art.Food.Hope inaugural event benefiting DC Central Kitchen and Martha’s Table. Attendees include: Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein, Rachel Maddow, and chefs galore.

Alice Waters bursts into the room, asking if anyone knows the Heimlich maneuver, as cookbook author Joan Nathan is choking. And then:Tom Colicchio knew the Heimlich maneuver. And the Top Chef judge performed it. So not only can Colicchio run multiple restaurants and anchor a cooking show and win five James Beard awards and cook for the rescue workers after 9/11, but he can save your life...Colicchio was modest. 'I just happened to be nearby,' he shrugged."

Skip is back from the first day of the two-day cooking class.  Apparently, nothing from today's class would have been to my liking (likely story :) ) - actually from the description, he is right.  But this stuff sounds like it'll come in handy when we have company.

He thanks everybody for their good wishes!!!

Well, we're going to Oxford earlier than planned, because we have no running water.  There are half a dozen city trucks up in the next block and our neighbor said they told him it might be 24 hours before we're back online.  We've made a reservation in the Hampton Inn and will go to Cincinnati for church from there tomorrow - an unplanned vacation!

Hey, at least you have someplace to go.  We usually stay home & suffer.  Have fun.

Well, our water's back on but we've decided to stay overnight in Oxford anyway.  We're not in such a hurry now, because we were able to take showers here at home.

Yeah, DR Jane, we'd probably have gone to my mom's if we hadn't already had tickets for the concert.  I'd be more likely to stay home without electricity, like we did in September, than without water.

When we loose our electricity we loose our water, heat, stove, etc.  It isn't fun.  It has happened so often over the years (comes from living in homes with wells) so many times I can't count them.

I am curious if the person was an idiot & ignored the symptoms, didn't have any until it was too late, or just too poor to go to a doctor.
