We didn't get good numbers last night and I think some felt that HEARTLAND was dragging us down.

Which one - the 8PM re-run or the 10PM new episode?
Anybody notice you're going up against the SOPRANOS on non pay TV? Since you re-run both the Closer and Heartland episodes, you don't get a clear reading on viewer support on just one showing! So, since I missed the second episode of Heartland, thinking I could see it at 8PM next Monday, I'll get to miss episode 2 and need to wait 'til July to see episode 3 And they wonder why they lose viewers! Guess I should just skip Saving Grace - they'll just jerk that around as well!

Grrr...

I don't get that.  If you like a show why wouldn't you tune into it no matter what the shows before or after are?  It's not like it is difficult to change the channel. ;D

I asked the very same question. I think they want to get people who are channel-surfing and see THE CLOSER and they hope they will stick with it into the next episode. Maybe they're right...I know once I start watching "Pimp My Ride" it''s hard to stop!

Well, Monday night I suspect more people were watching KYLE XY than surfing Closer re-runs!

I think you will be able to see Episode 2 of HEARTLAND this coming monday at 8PM. CLOSER won't start airing the previous week's episode until GRACE starts in July.

Believe me, it's hard for us to keep up with it, too!

bk, I've sent a shout-out to folks I know who might have apartments available to sublet in NY. Haven't heard back yet but will let you know if anything promising crops up.

We don't enjoy the show anymore, especially the family.  Some of it is outright funny, when it shouldn't be-to us anyway.

To bad about BJ...but perhaps Elmore could take in both BJ and Cason at his flop house? I would certainly like to see a fellow Oregonion make in NY!

Yes it is already 80 degrees here.

Didn't Steve Reeves and Mickey Hargitay play Ephemera and Detritus?  Or were they in the musical version?
Ephemera would make a great name for a drag artiste.

I'm not sure about Detritus.

BJ is indeed coming along, so that's good.  I just had to explain how things would work.

Lauren, on the other hand, has behaved so poorly that I'm really annoyed with her.  As I said, she's in my friend Gary's show (which she would not be in were it not for the Brain) - it's playing the Fringe and she's taking ten days off from her job to do it, and not giving anyone ANY grief about it.  But with me, for whatever reason, she not only wants her flight covered, but to be reimbursed for work missed - on top of that, she cannot miss more than two-and-a-half weeks worth of work, which would give me less than a week of rehearsals with her.  Needless to say, I said no to everything and I let her know that I knew that she was not being reimbursed in any way, shape, or form for my friend's show.  Of all the roles to recast, I think hers is probably the easiest, so I'm now on the prowl for someone really good.

Der Brucer and I have just been alerted that our elderly neighbor across the street is without air conditioning.  With temperatures on the rise (along with the humidity), one of our other neighbors asked if we might have a room air conditioner or something to help.

I didn't think we did, but der Brucer had indeed packed one in the move from Long Beach.

He's giving it a good cleaning as I type.

Or, maybe she's being reimbursed in other ways (nudge nudge wink wink).

It wouldn't be the first time that show biz has overtones of other businesses.

Glad about BJ!

You could find hundreds of suitable gals in NY to play Lauren's role, I think. Perhaps even better.

I'm just sayin'

Sayz Mr New Yawk Theatuh now that he's seen one off-off-Broadway show!

BK, I think you're being needlessly hot under the collar about Lauren:
  1.  She's known for at least two months that the show she's in was playing the Fringe.
  2.  This NYMF booking just happened 4 days ago; she's already adjusted her schedule for the month of August and now you're asking her to rearrange September as well.  Perhaps if she'd known this two months ago, she'd be in THE BRAIN instead.  Who's to know?

Well, be that as it may DR Elmore, I will still be auditioning keeping an eye out for male type actors to play the other Brain roles whilst I am in NYC, so as to refer my favorites to BK.

Next came the dreary, going-nowhere STAIRCASE. Two hours of bitchery and carping with only an occasional moment of tenderness (usually to be ridiculed in any event), and both male stars completely hopeless trying to be "mincing" or "pansy" or whatever archaic adjectives one might use to describe their behavior. I'll grant that Burton might have had one moment or two of genuine feeling or depoth. Harrison's performance is completely on the surface and as phony a job as I've ever seen from a major actor.

Despite Donen's best efforts to move action out of doors and to different locales, it stubbornly remains a talky, uninteresting play.
