I was given this LITTLE PEOPLE, BIG WORLD job after 2 other editors tried to deliver a tape and failed. (Not their fault, IMHO.) I was asked to give it the "Amy Linton touch". What the hell does THAT mean?

They said that the SOCCER MOMS tape set the bar; it made them all cry. I hope that doesn't have to be something I should strive for...

I guess it's time for a frenzy.

All the talk between SWW and Jose about roasting bones for soup stock was also very fascinating to me, but also made me feel like I am such a rookie in the kitchen that I shouldn't even bother...

I've done four pages.  I think I'll take a little break, maybe eat something, and then I'll do another page or two this afternoon.  I will say that less than two weeks in, I'm probably a third of the way through the book.  I'm having fun, but the next few chapters will probably be a little more difficult.

Our neighborhood has a great civic association wiht a nice website. We have Pet Pages, which is a place to post a picture of your pet in case it gets lost, etc. I am now in charge of taking the cat photos and information pertaining to said cats.

In my "spare" time, I'm editing a video for child safety for a group called "Safe Kids". I agreed to do it pro bono because the guy doing it is a good friend and client, and he also had a good job for me. But the TLC stuff has taken up so much time that I had to turn down his paying job, but felt like it would be wrong to back out of the other, since I had already agreed to help before he came up with the nice job. (But that was when I  was out of work!)

The statistics are very sobering as far as how many deaths could have been prevented.

Oh, start with little steps - cup of tea, grilled cheese - then march on!

When I met Woody, he could hardly boil water and considered Denny's fine dining. It was only after he "learned" to eat that he took up cooking.

Tonight's dinner is "leftovers" - (a pot roast done in the new stock yesterday, left to mature overnight).

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up...then since I was in the mood for a croissant, I hopped on the A Train - after dressing accordingly, of course - and headed on down to Columbus Circle.  Then after a brief walk over to 7th Avenue, I stopped into Petrossian for a Croissant.

Looks good.  The almond cookies and Madeline's are pretty.

Der B, I hope the article you posted about THE CLOSER won't turn out to be correct.

Actually, I suspect THE CLOSER has a better ultimate survival chance than some shows; it may lose its creative team for a bit, but the show does not rely on plot continuity, and the audience will surely hunger for more - even after a long hiatus.

DR elmore - I may have an extra ticket to the NY Phil this week - Thursday night, I think.  Leif Ove Andsnes is playing Brahms' Second Piano Concerto.  Are you possibly interested in this possibly available ticket?

I actually might be! I can't think far because I've got Tuesday's IRS date stuck in my head, but I think that might be fun.

Begin Rant:

I am working on a campaign where a Republican women is challenging an incumbent Republican man for a non-partisan seat on a school board. The local Republican apparatus first tried to get her not to run: promised her money/endorsements if she shifted to a "lesser" race. Well, she decide to run anyway - now they are going after her Campaign Consultant: So much for "It's about the children!"

End Rant

der Brucer

Please note: the Chairman of the local Apparatus can not spell "candidate".

How many women are running for this position?

And speaking of "originals"...

With the upcoming Broadway mounting of the LuPone Gypsy, does this make Gypsy the most oft-revived Broadway show?

I guess so. And none of the revivals have run as long as the original.

I've had a very full afternoon of viewing. I began with Friday night's MONK episode. A good mystery this week, and for a change it was more enjoyable than it was irritating. I did like Disher's sight gag scene with Monk halfway through the show.

DR Jose, the Petrossian building is at the top of my list of favorite NY buildings, perhaps because I've seen it so often due to its close proximity to The Wellington. I always look at the menu when I walk past, and think to myself that one day I will have dinner there, but there never seemed to be an occasion special enough (i.e. we don't have the wardrobe for it!). Who knew you could go in and get a croissant?

How dressed up do you have to get to do that?

Our Chinese waiter could not pronouce bruleé---it kept sounding like Blue Ray, which made me think of MattH.

I did a recording with a Japanese soprano who always called me Rally.  It was odd.  Whatever happened to Tomoko?

We might try to catch a show while we're up there, if anything offers itself and is affordable. Like DR Elmore, we also have to think about scraping up the cash to pay our taxes next week.
