It's a little maddening that the charter membership doesn't get you better service from that department at the software company.

Wanna speculate on how much "work" she's had done?

Probably by someone using the aforementioned wire coat hanger as a surgical tool.

singdaw, I removed the topic.  I ask you all not to every click on New Topic or Poll or anything - with the old board you couldn't and as soon as we fix the big problem, I'll see if there's a way to fix it so only I can change the topic.

Does anyone plan to keep their new name once/is ever we retrieve our original names?

I don't want to be Number 2.

;)

Try harder!

Heard back from the software people - he's stymied because all permissions seem to be set correctly.  He needs to recreate the problem in order to de-bug, he says.  So, can one of you right this minute e-mail me your username and password from the old board?  You can reset your password afterwards, although I'll obviously never use it for anything.  Please do it now.  haineshisway at aol dot com

Please do what I asked quickly - it's the only way they can figure this out - and they seem to be online right now.

Got it, thanks - have forwarded both of them to the guy.  Meanwhile, the sixteen year old had to go, so it's really on the pro guys now as the sixteen year old won't be able to get back to me until tomorrow or even the next day.

And so we wait.  Hopefully, this software guy will be able to log in with George or singdaw's old name and password and recreate the problem we're having - once he sees it, he will hopefully be able to figure things out from there.

I do have to say that I (personally) find it kind of annoying to have only 15 posts per page. :P

Just my opinion. ;)

This new quote one, quote them all, is interesting.

If I remember correctly, we used to be able to do that, and then something changed at some point.  Now it's do-able again. :)

Here's an FAQ-type question:

When I was registering, with a different name, I used the e-mail address for my home account (which is the one I have with my old account name).   The system would not allow me to finish registering because my e-mail address was "associated with another user."

Did anyone else have this issue arise?  I created this account using my work address, but I'm truly not comfortable doing that and wonder what the "fix" is.

Yep everyone had this same problem.

To me the reason why it sucks is because PMs used to go directly to my email. But i don't check the email address i re-registered with. So if anyone sees my email (which i tried to hide) or PMs me i will not see it in my email.

What i don't get is why didn't the software people notify you that they were updating their stuff. I mean even if they didn't know for sure that it would screw up HHW. You'd think they would have told you!

Shouldn't the kid be in school??

I agree it sounds funny that a 16 year old is the helper. But if he's a computer genius and can fix the problem ... then i guess it doesn't matter. :)

Although to me the funny part is that he told you he's 16.

Did you notice that on the "HHW Community Forums" page, if you scroll to the bottom, there's a link for the (non-euphemistic) "Members List," where you can see all the members. :)

Also, if you click on the names of the columns:  Status, Username, Email, Website, ICQ, AIM, YIM, MSN, Position, Date Registered and Posts, you can sort by each of those.  Pretty cool!
