We are back from Lauren's graduation party, which was very nice.  Rob and Mary Linda picked up my Mom and, by the time Richard and I got to the party, she was in the house drinking Scotch and Rob was getting her a plate of food.  She enjoyed being there and it meant a lot to Lauren and her Mom, because my Mom is the only grandparent left in our family.

Here's our happy girl with last night's cake.  Today's cake was a football field, but by the time we got there one end zone and about 30 yards were gone.

I went to see THE ARTIST the other night.  I walked out half way through it.  I couldn't hear a single word anyone was saying.

Herbert Lieder - didn't he play the father on Dennis the Menace on TV?

He has a conductor son, Foleau D. Lieder.

From DR Jahn G,
Quote
I did have some good news today, though. Dad got the results of his CAT scan and there was no sign of cancer. The doctor must have gotten it all when she removed that polyp.

FANTASTIC!!!

Yes indeed.  That is wonderful.

*And in a sort of full circle moment, it turns out that the other pianist on stage with me is Gary Green. He played for MASTER CLASS on Broadway when Patti LuPone took over.

Back from a fun belated birthday dinner at Casa Vega.  I always feel VERY full after eating there, but the actual calorie count isn't terrible and I did do the four-mile jog today.

DR Jane, there were some photos taken and I suspect they'll turn up on Facebook in the next few days.  Today's cake wasn't on the same scale as an actual football field - LOL!

Just got an e-mail from Dave Grusin asking if he could get some copies of Divorce, American Style - he asked if we were still in business!  I directed him to the website, and told him that in case he wasn't aware, we've done three Grusin titles this year.

JR, we went to a party tonight at one of the Comedy Moms' houses and she had a gigantic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman poster in her game room.  When I mentioned Allison, she said, "Didn't you notice?  The poster is of me!" and she went on to show me she had pasted her face there and replaced all the other people with a bunch of producers she had worked with when she was a script supervisor in L.A.  :)

Good Evening!

My original plan for today was to get up around 9:00am, have breakfast, then head to the theatre around 10:30am to get another hour or so of practice in, take a break for a leisurely lunch, then head back to the theatre for the 2:00pm matinee. Well...

When I woke up the first time, it was already 9:30am.  When I woke up the second time it was 10:45am. I decided just to take my time getting ready, and I ended up at the theatre around 12:30pm. I ran a few things with Gary, the other pianist, before the matinee, and then...

Both shows went very well today. There are still a couple of passages I'm simplifying out of "fear", but, for the most part, I'm already feeling comfortable in regards to the flow of the show.

And I'm glad I got a full night's sleep last night rather than forcing myself to wake up "early".

However...

Tomorrow, I am hoping to get up a bit earlier so that I can head to the Sidewalk Cafe for brunch to see my favorite waitress, Edwina. Hopefully, she'll be there. I also want to pick up some sort of Thank You gift for the cast and crew of MFL.
