Had a great brunch with good friends yesterday.
Last night's show was The Mystery Of Irma Vep. The two actors were great. The costume changes were fast and furious, as they need to be, and the small theater (Urban Stages) allowed for a very intimate feel and to see all the facial expressions close up. I'd be fascinated to know what the backstage area looks like. I just envision several dressing assistants ripping one costume off and throwing another one on, with cloths and props strewn all over the place. It no doubt requires tremendous coordination to pull the whole thing off. Last night was the final performance of the extended run, and they said they were in the process of trying to put together a transfer to Off Broadway, which would start in about two months.
I had toyed with the idea of going to see yesterday's performance of Bloody Lies at MITF, but after DR elmore's report, I'm glad I decided to skip it.
