It's going fine.  I made my way from Columbus to Cleveland today via the Longaberger Homestead.  Sort of Longaberger Basket Disneyland.
What days are you going to be in NYC this fall?

Pictures?

Of my trip?  No, I left my digital camera at home for DS Rob to use for a class project.  If I'd had it with me here's what I would have photographed:

The Chihuly glass sculptures that are all over the Franklin Park Conservatory (where my seminars were Tuesday and Wednesday)

The exquisite orchid plant in the Conservatory's entrance

The Longaberger Main Office building that's designed to look just like one of the baskets

What days are you going to be in NYC this fall?

Before I left work Monday, I made a reservation at the Comfort Inn for October 2-8 (Monday-Sunday).  My conference is Friday and Saturday, during the day only.

To my somewhat tin ear, the orchestrations sounded like the stage musical.

I thouroughly enjoyed last night's presentation.  I was prepared, at the most, to be bored by it, but found myself loving the majority of it.  I thought Stokes and McEntire were ideal in those roles.  Not so crazy about Cable and Liat.

I agree, DR DtM.  Got a kick out of Alec Baldwin losing his place and Reba's reaction.  I cried at the end, and cried even harder when Reba fell apart.

Many of the recent movies that we missed in the theaters are available in this hotel, on demand.  Maybe I'll watch one tomorrow evening:

Good Night and Good Luck
Mrs. Henderson Presents
Brokeback Mountain
Walk the Line

...and many more

Tonight:  Part 2 of Elizabeth I

I never understood "a hotdog makes her lose control" until a couple of years ago.

Well, there's something she has in common with our DR Jose!

Goddaughter Charlotte was absolutely stunning in BABES IN ARMS, and I was extremely proud of her.  Good band, a lot of laughs.  I sat with my friend Evans Haile, who conducted the recording of BABES IN ARMS with Jason Graae, Judy Blazer, Judy Kaye, and Greg Eddelman.  We laughed a lot and had a great time.

Charlotte's father is up for a Daytime Emmy tomorrow night.  I have to remember to tape it for her since she will be in her show tomorrwo night.

Sorry I missed Chat.  I love it.

Good for Charlotte, DR Elmore!  Someday, I'd like to meet her.

My meeting tomorrow is at the Cleveland regional office of the Foundation Center.  I learned Tuesday that the new Spiderman movie is being filmed along Euclid Avenue, right in front of the building in which the FC is located.  In fact, the film company trailers are parked in the lot where I usually park when I visit this location.  Hmm, guess I'll have to find another place to leave my car.

A little celebration music (or lyrics) in honor of the new plateau.  It's almost the weekend, after all.

Stomp Lyrics

Steppin' out the weekends open wide
Fill it up let's blast the jams and ride
While we're cruisin' around in the street
Listen up for the party in feet

Slap me five that's the place we've arrived it's alive
Ev'rybody take it to the top we're gonna
Stomp all night in the neighbourhood
Don't it feel all right gonna
Stomp all night wanna party
Till the morning light

Runnin' runnin' runnin'
The set is hot there's people wall to wall
Old ones young things short ones standing tall
So Grab the one with the smile on her face

And hit the floor and stay right on the case
The heat is on and the funk just won't leave us alone
Ev'rybody take it to the top we're gonna

Stomp all night in the neighbourhood
Don't it feel all right gonna
Stomp all night wanna party
Till the morning light gonna

Stomp all night in the neighbourhood
Don't it feel all right gonna
Stomp all night wanna party
Till the morning light

Stomp

(x 3)
Stomp step down in it put your foot
Where you feel the fit
Stomp you don't want to quit
Put your heels where you're feeling it

(repeat - fades)
Stomp all night in the neighbourhood
Don't it feel all right gonna
Stomp all night wanna party
Till the morning light

And now, for your easy listening pleasure, as HHW makes its way towards 250,000, here's Ryan Adams' song "Easy Plateau"

Easy Plateau

Let's take a ride to the easy plateau
Where the cold don't come and the wind don't blow
Moonlight flickers on the water below
The orange grove blossoms
In the orange grove
Bad nights lead to better days
It doesn't matter but I think about it anyway

I want a easy plateau
Some place to rest my head
I want an easy plateau
Some place to rest my head
For awhile, for awhile, for awhile
For a little while

Sleepyhead, come on let's take a ride
To the easy plateau in the back of your mind
Up through the alley, take the door under the stairs
My head ain't feeling nothing but cats and rocking chairs
Bad nights lead to better days
It never happens but I think about it anyway
I want an easy plateau
Some place to hang my head
I want an easy plateau
Some place to hang my head
For awhile, for awhile, for awhile
For a little while

How do I hold on to you
If I can't hold on to me
How do I hold on to you
I want an easy plateau
Some place to rest my head for a little while

I want an easy plateau
Some place to rest my head
I want an easy plateau
Some place to rest my head
An easy plateau

Since it's a little quiet around these parts, here's a song from Nirvana called, simply, PLATEAU:

many a hand has scaled the grand old face of the plateau
some belong to strangers and some to folks you know
holy ghosts and talk show hosts are planted in the sand
to beautify the foothills and shake the many hands
there's nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop
and an illustrated book about birds
you see a lot up there but don't be scared
who needs action when you got words
when you're finished with the mop then you can stop
and look at what you've done
the plateau's clean, no dirt to be seen
and the work it took was fun
well the many hands began to scan around for the next plateau
some said it was in greenland and some in mexico
some decided it was nowhere except for where they stood
but they were all just guesses, wouldn't help you if they could

Sorry I missed the chat. Cleaning took less time than I thought, and I sat back down to continue with the new DVD of GUYS & DOLLS and the time just slipped away. Before I knew it, it was 8 p.m. and time for prime time TV to begin.

I hope everyone had a grand time.

GUYS & DOLLS continued to be fun. I got basically to the end of where Act I would have been when the gamblers rush out of the mission after Sky and Sarah return from Havana.

Neither Brando nor Jean Simmons is the world's best vocalist, but you'd look hard to find a more effervescent performance than Jean's of "If I Were a Bell," and Brando's reactions to her playfulness are loads of fun. I think it's the best number in the movie.

SMALLVILLE had an entertaining episode but resorted to two of its old standbys:

spoilers - - - - - - - -

1. The villain with a ready supply of kryptonite to use against Clark.

2. A visitor trudging up the steps to the barn loft at the end of the episode to have a heart-to-heart with Clark. How overworked that device has become in the years this show has been on the air.
