T.O.D.
I've done 2 Shakespeare plays: THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, in which I played "Grumio," and a TV version of HAMLET, in which I played "Osric". Both were done during my freshman year at the University of Washington. The actor who played "Claudius" in that production was David Siedler, who won the Best Screenplay Oscar a few years ago for THE KING'S SPEECH.
"Ophelia" and "Katherine" in those productions was played by Marian Hailey, who went on to have a major acting career until she quit in favor of becoming a Psychologist. Among other credits, she was in the Oscar-winning film, LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS, and appeared on Broadway in the revival of HARVEY with Jimmy Stewart and Helen Hayes.
When I'm in the mood for Shakespeare, I do enjoy it...particularly when it's staged by a great, innovative filmmaker like Orson Welles (MACBETH) or Laurence Olivier (HAMLET).
