Mark of the Beast Department:  One of the cooler things about the Great Wolf lodge is they clip a little hospital-esque wristband on you that does everything--it gets you in the waterpark, but a little more amazingly, if you wave it in front of your door, it acts as your key, and any store on the premises can scan the wristband and charge your room automatically.  It makes everything very convenient, as no one wants to be carrying around their wallet/cash since the main attraction is the waterpark.

Sounds like a very fun vacation, JMK.

I guess we couldn't afford vacations much when I was a kid. We only traveled a couple times that I remember.

As an adult, we mostly go to visit my DH's family for vacations. We've only done one or two that didn't involve family.

The cafeteria at Griffin Creek Elementary School had burned down the summer before my entrance into 1st grade, so taking our lunch was required. I don't recall what my home packed lunches consisted of, however, it was likely Peanut Butter and jam, Tuna Fish, or egg salad.

This was my lunch box:

When the cafeteria was rebuilt we quickly abandoned the packing of the lunch, although I don't know why. I was not a picky eater so I liked everything that was served...but as I recall, the Beanie Weenies were my favorite as was some vegetable thing which I cannot seem to recall now.

Oooooh!  Lunch boxes!

My first lunch box (which was bought for kindergarden) was Alvin and the Chipmunks.  Dark green vinyl--very snazzy:

At some point during the first grade, I wanted something new and sturdier.  I let my dad talk me into getting a tin box featuring WAGON TRAIN (odd, because we never watched the show.)  I wasn't crazy about it at first, but it grew on me.  I liked the artwork a lot.

I think it was when I was about to start third grade that I wanted to get a new lunch box.  I remember standing in front of the display in Super X (a supermarket-sized drugstore) and being stupefied by the huge selection.  I couldn't decide between Lost In Space and The Green Hornet.  My mom helped me make my decision by deciding that I was taking too long and dragging me out of the store empty handed.

By fourth grade, I was paperbagging it.

I adore Lily Tomlin!  I've been a huge fan ever since I first saw her as a regular on MUSIC SCENE on ABC (shortly before she switched over to LAUGH-IN.)  She is probably the one performer I've seen live more times than any other.

Phaedra almost happened - paired with Topkapi, until I found all the extra music for Topkapi.  I don't think there are enough sales in Phaedra as a standalone.  I thought about the two pussycats, but I'm just not sure about it.  We do have one more put-together coming from that big MGM box set, and it's the two scores people most want from there, paired together.  And just to be clear, we have TWO cast album releases coming - the one I mentioned to those were at FJL's, and another one that I am awaiting contracts on.

Here's the link to the "I'm Still Queer" video on YouTube, just uploaded last evening.

Hope you like it, and if you do, please pass the link around.

It's to the tune of the Stephen Sondheim classic "I'm Still Here," with a very special thanks to the wonderful William Parry for doing the vocal, and it's on YouTube by arrangement and with permission of the real song's publisher. (And thanks to Jose as always, and to DR Julie for her help along the way.)

Thanks if you have time to watch - it's a little over four minutes long,

I love it!! ;D

It will be interesting.

So, what's the title that was mentioned at FJL's?!?!?

Well, the Blu-ray of EARTH just arrived, so I know I will definitely have a work project for today. The movie is only 90 minutes, and there are only a couple of bonus items, so it seems I will have the evening free to watch something fun tonight.

MATT H

You realize that this is a condensation of The  BBC PLANET EARTH Series

Well, there is a lot of familiar footage in it from PLANET EARTH, but I guess they used some outtakes, too, since there is some footage I'd never seen before.

Back from the lunch meeting, and am awaiting the arrival of meeting person number two, after which I have some more printing to do, a telephonic conversation to have, and that should be it.

Instead of watching more LIE TO ME (which I'll probably do tonight after I watch a movie), I watched the last two episodes in the BROADWAY: THE AMERICAN MUSICAL series. I've always loved this documentary, and I enjoyed seeing those two sections again.

Then I spent the majority of the afternoon on EARTH. As DR Arnold alluded, it's PLANET EARTH-lite, a reshuffling and reorganization of amazing footage from PLANET EARTH with a new narrator (James Earl Jones) and a different theme: migration trying together the three main characters: polar bears, elephants, and humpback whales (though caribou and  cranes are also touched on). Adding in those other animals and different sections of the earth (desert, rain forest, both poles) also gives a spotty continuity to the whole thing.

So, the images are breathtaking (if mostly familiar) and the DTS-HD MA sound is imminently superior to the DD tracks on PLANET EARTH.

Then I watched the bonus features. There is PiP commentary and anecdotes along with pop-up facts which the user can turn on or off. There is a 42-minute documentary on the making of the film. And there is something called a "Living Menu" which will change periodically as 7 Earth hot spots change. The disc will then offer new video clips and pop-up facts for those 7 hot spots.

If the BD-player is connected to the internet, the disc also can GPS your location and give you the current time, weather, and temperature!

I then watched the Fish segments on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. It was just filler as Fish explained why he can't come out to his parents. My hang-wringing and torment.
