Swan Lake and The Nutcracker - how could I forget?

DR JMK - thanks for the Toland quote.  I think sometimes people think our obsession with Frances might be a bit misplaced, but I would encourage them to take a look at a couple of her movies.

No less a personage than Mr Howard Hawks (who directed Frances in about 3/4 of one movie) said:  "The only two actresses who can be mentioned in the same breath with [Frances Farmer] talent wise are Carole Lombard and Rosalind Russell."

Hawks also used Frances' voice as an example when he was teaching Lauren Bacall to lower her timbre!

As beautiful as she was in her dual role in COME AND GET IT....I think she was MOST beautiful in SON OF FURY.  Her scenes with Tyrone Power are stunning!

Not caught up, Notes not read... we've havd some minor excitement, the Vixter was stung  by a hornet right below her right eye yesterday. She was complaining of pain but we kept putting ice packs on her gave her some tylenol and out her to bed last night.  I never got online becasue AOL was still not dialing into my local number for whatever reason.

This morning Victoria came into our room and I almost fell over, over night her face swelled up and her poor right eye was completely swelled shut

We have just come back from the doctor who prescribed compresses of warm tea bags, Benedryl and Zyrtec .

I'll try and pop in later.

Love is a song that never ends.
Life may be swift and fleeting.
Hope may die yet love's beautiful music
Comes each day like the dawn.

IIRC, the Marni Nixon Mary Poppins was the Sears version, LOL.  I believe that was the first time I ever saw Mrs. Gold's name in print!

JR:  I agree--FF in SOF is stunning, though I prefer her "look" in the early scenes to the pic you posted.  She looks a little "mask"-like in those "hair-down" shots.

Creature From the Black Lagoon remake names another new director.   :P

Comments on Ain't It Cool News are NOT positive.  I am horrified by the idea of a remake at all.

Revenge of the Creature is my favorite!

Not that I download pics from eBay so that I won't have to buy them, or anything.  ;)

Tell the vixter to feel better.

And vixmom's review is up (under the hardcover version) on amazon.  Check it out.  They still haven't fixed the problem with the reviews not showing up on both versions, so I'll write them yet again.

Did anyone else ever think the song was actually "My body lies over the ocean?" It always concerned me as a child...

I can see how it could happen, but for me, the title was written on the record and that's the first time that I'd ever heard of the song...we lived in Germany at the time, but that's pretty funny! ;D

Has anyone else here received his or her influenza vaccine yet?

I'm allergic to the vaccine and need to take it in several dosages, which is a pain so I don't bother.  Ron, I think you shouldn't be sick when you get it-at least that was the practice years ago.  So....CONTINUED NO COLD VIBES!

Tomovoz is gone.  Without comment.  Possibly without even having seen any comments made by me about his "lurking" status.

Just...POOF...he's vanished from lurkdom.

Perhaps, though, the Birds got him...swooped in upon him and disconnected his power and -- even now -- are roosting on every square inch of his property waiting for him to dare set foot outside.

I do hope Magnus and Fosca will protect him.

From TPunk:

Walty and Killbot update- I have twice spied Killbot licking Walty's head and ear.

Of course when it happened just now, she followed it up with a chomp on the neck... but I'm feeling hopeful.

Sweet :) ;D

Jed & Ann, Keith & I agree with you on LOST.  The first episode was great and it went down hill from there.  I’m didn’t give CRIMINAL MINDS a chance as I’m not a fan of Mandy Patinkin.  Maybe I will check it out.

Powerball update:  They just announced the winning ticket was sold in southern Oregon.

Jane....Keith....remember who sent you the lovely flowers as you drive to Salem to claim your winnings.  ;)

If only........however, like MBarnum we didn't purchase a ticket.

Jose why is Patrick Cassidy a blond in the show?  In the photo on his web-site he has dark hair.  Any chance you will be with the show in April when it plays in Portland?

Vixmom, is the Vixter sleeping the day away?  From personal experience (I can swell for a week) I suggest ice and Benedryl (or half of one) if she gets stung again.  What did the doctor suggest?
