Decided out of nothing other than curiosity to get the ootleg-bay of the film version of Porgy and Bess, and must say, it's not horrible.  :)

I found out a frequent collaborator here in PDX is one of the Bway revisal's producers.  I could tell stories, but I won't.  ;)

AOL keeps kicking me out today.
I'm sure you've been kicked out of better places.  ;D

How are you feeling today?

And I have been kicked out of much worse places!

I am feeling better and better every day.  I just wish my leg would cooperate.

The flew into Shanghai and stayed for two days then took a bus to Suzhou (sp?), which is where the host families are.  They'll be there for several days before flying to Beijing.

I hope Zach took the right underwear - we wouldn't want another Boxer Rebellion on our hands.

So he won't be with his host family the entire time?

There seems to be a site where I can see my High School Yearbook, so I am now waiting for my confirmation email......which I think is better than waiting for my bar mitzvah email......

I enjoy the film version of PORGY AND BESS.  The one I can't tolerate is CARMEN JONES.  In these days of political correctness, where films like GREEN PASTURES and SONG OF THE SOUTH are locked away; why is a CARMEN JONES fixture on the late show?

Nice to have a sparkling new stove (oven/cooker) which arrived today and has been installed.

Sorry, DR Doug R, I didn't mean to harass you yesterday, I was just being curious.

I owe the PORGY AND BESS movie a lot.  Taken to see it at age ten, when it was new, it was the thing that set me on course for a lifelong love of Gershwin.  Not long after that I was pecking out the Rhapsody and Concerto in F (which I initially liked because the bluesy second movement made me think of moments in P&B) on the piano.

I've seen it at special showings a few times over the years.  The main thing I would warn anyone about before seeing it their first time is that it's very "stagey", as opposed to a "cinematic" depiction of the piece.  Last time I saw it there were times I wanted to scream at Preminger to get in there for a tight dramatic close shot.  Or...something.

I never took typing, and sometimes wish I had. I did lose a potential job with a publishing company in New York because of it (well, that and it wasn't paid and the company didn't think I could do it for free since I didn't live in the city).

But I wonder: Who was Vixmom's typing teacher?  ;D

Whew!  What a relief.  NASA is now saying that Astroid 2011 AG5 is not going to hit planet earth in 2040, as prviously expected.

What is Campari?  Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

It is an Italian liquor that's orangy-red in color and is bitter orange flavored.  It's rather good straight up on the rocks or with tonic water.

Page 4 Tour of Melissa Gilbert's Home Dance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctCVjLJ8n24

Love the casual innocent reference to her "mowing and blowing" landscaping guy :) as if she's not aware of the double entendre at 0:40

Is Melissa Gilbert closing in on a nervous breakdown, or has she already had one?  I worried every week on DWTS whether she was going to make it until the end of the program.

She looked fine in this clip.  I liked the house except for the kitchen.
