I think I saw "Ship of Monsters" a few times when I was a kid.  I appreciated its camp value even then.

Good morning, good day, how are you this beautiful day?  I am up.  It's a tiny bit overcast right now, but that should burn off.  I'm hoping my grogginess burns off, too.

Today I will be seeing my old friend Dave, who is a retired optometrist, as well as being one of the World's Nicest People. We will discuss my vision problems, among other things. I've now had three eye exams and we're still trying to figure out why I don't see properly with my new glasses.

Are they progressive lenses?

GOOD LUCK YOU FIGURE THIS OUT!

I've been there several times & it isn't fun. The first eye doctor when we moved here decided I had an astigmatism.  I never did that pair of lenses to work comfortably.  When I switched doctors one of the first things he asked was why my lenses were for an astigmatism that I didn't have.

Margaret Thatcher's illegitimate mixed race child Rebecca has emailed me, offering to deposit several million pounds into my American bank account as soon as she perishes from cancer.

She has six total treatments. She will do three, then have a month of radiation, then the other three. She has had two so far.

Just how does one go about get one's own little French boy?   Is the embassy giving them away now?

I "ordered" him from NACEL when he was in high school: http://www.nacelopendoor.org/

This year he's turning 40!! And we may try to go to France to help celebrate that fact!

DR Laura I hope each treatment doesn't continue to be more difficult.  Most of all I hope they continue as planned and do the trick!

Well, the overcast has gotten worse, not better.  I have no idea if it's warm out or chilly.

I think I'll try ordering a more mature model than a high-schooler.  Is your 40 year old up for grabs?

Thanks, everyone, for the vibes and prayers for my sister. Her next-door neighbor is also having chemo treatments; they were diagnosed the same week.

Kerry, they say we may have rain tomorrow, but I don't have a headache. Is your ankle predicting rain?

That seems like an odd coincidence.  Are they different types & treatments?

DR Swishy the loss of your young friends, and I consider Jean young, is so very sad.  To die so needlessly in such a manner just isn’t right.

When I was your age I lost friends & family to drugs.  In my teens I almost lost my mother a number of times to drugs, it was very painful.    I don’t think there is any special advice you need to give to your friends, just let them know you are there to listen anytime they want.  Often people don’t want to listen so the grieving stop talking.

Well her "name" is Rebecca Thatcher and she is "dying" of "cancer."  I may have extrapolated the rest of the information from that precis.   ;D

Interesting discovery...I took one of the DVDs we acquired in England that come free in several of the Sunday Papers and put it in my computer.  It brought up a message box, "This DVD is region 2, your DVD player is set on region 1, would you like to switch over?"  I clicked on yes and it gave me an array of options that basically allow me to play any DVD from any country.  So I've had an all-region DVD player in my computer all this time!

Some of you in certain parts of the country may appreciate a New Yorker cartoon from a few days ago showing two guys walking down the street their scarves and overcoats blowing in the wind.

The caption:  "Long term I'm worried about global warming-- short term, about freezing my ass off."

Actually, be careful and check the fine print--some OS's come with a finite (and small) number of changes you can switch to before your last switch becomes permanent.
