Curt Gowdy has died.

I loved him on 77 Sunset Strip.  ;D

Hmm...

So... Is there a limit to the number of song and tempo changes an Ice Dancing couple can choreograph to in one routine?

Few do!

Gentlemen, thank you for the lyrics.  Now I'm going to buy the sheet music and drive all my fellow New York Hainsies and Kimlets mad with it.  I've always liked "Waltzing Matilda" as well.

Well DRJENNIFER - the only thing you can be sure of:  I didn't win a medal in the Olympics.    Yet!

I wouldn't want one of these medals--they have a hole in them.

Why did they change the medals anyway?  Maybe the Italians figured it was a good way to use up unsold Eddie Fisher CDs.

I just passed the lutefisk in the grocery stores... The Norwegians are everywhere!!

Dakota - I grew up in Estherville, IA. It's a lot more Norweigian than Sioux City is. I think we had 5 Lutheran Churches in a town of 8000 people. Some of our family's best friends were the Hendrickson's. The father in the family, Jerry was from somewhere near Fargo. So I had a lot of exposure to Nort Dakota while I was growing up.

And my babysitter when I was young was a woman in her 80s who grew up in North Dakota out on the plains in the late 1800s/early 1900s

Isn't there at least ONE Olympic competitor who is NOT making a comeback, suffering from an eating disorder, grieving for a lost relative, OR overcoming an addiction?

"Waltzing Matilda" - aka  "Humping Your Bluey" and "Carrying Your Swag"

(Language differences are fraught!)

I hope you do better with the lyrics than did poor Jimmie Rodgers!  He had to rerecord the song for Australian audiences.

The song has been a Top 40 hit here for:
Jimmie Rodgers
The Seekers
Frank Ifield

and  Dame Edna had a version too.

I think my mother has the whole series of the RD Songbooks!

DR JRand55, why didn't you post the the real lyric?  All these commercials I hear on tv lately have half-remembered songs as well, like "Daydream Believer" but I don't know where in my subconscious the Belafonte originated!

I thought it was the Monkees???

She used to tell us stories about growing up on the Prairie. The one I've never forgotten is about a snake that bit a man so he bit the snake back. The snake died and the man lived. I could never quite figure that one out when I was little. Why on earth would anyone want to bite a snake?
