Here is the delightful place where Richard and I had brunch in St. Augustine, FL, in January - Le Pavillion:

Fido goes to war:

Quote
While many Americans are anxious to meet and commend the team of Navy SEALs who raided the compound in Abottabad, Pakistan, and killed Usama bin Laden, one team member would be happy just to receive a doggie treat.

Among the commandos was a heroic canine – a bomb-sniffing dog who was attached to a team member as the SEALs were lowered from a Black Hawk helicopter into bin Laden’s hideout, The Sun reports.

...

There are currently 600 dogs serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ensign Brynn Olsen of U.S. Central Command told the New York Times. In 2008, Gen. David Petraeus, current U.S. commander in charge of Afghanistan and soon to be CIA director, called for an increase in the number of dogs used by the military.

“The capability they bring to the fight cannot be replicated by man or machine,” Petraeus said. “By all measures of performance, their yield outperforms any asset we have in our industry.”

Interesting that you should mention escargots, DB, as I just this moment went out to get the mail and there sliming its way across my sidewalk was an honest to goodness snail, replete with shell.  I don't think I've ever seen a "shelled" snail here before.

A hangover from the days when strip joints (then called "Girlie Shows") were held in carnival tents.

Just finished lunch which I prepared using a newly learned culinary skill:

To cut nice even bread slices for sandwiches from a whole baked loaf, turn the loaf top (round side) down before slicing.

I suggest feeding it corn meal for a few days before serving.

Back from a mile and a half jog and now I'll mosey on over to the mail place to see if there are any packages, after which I'll get something to eat.

And how come it's spelled "pronunciation", and not "pronounciation"? -When the verb is "pronounce". ???

To keep it in line with "announce" and "annunciation".

With "denounce" and "denunciation".

With "renounce" and "renunciation."

A clip from the upcoming "Company" video from Elmore's favorite, Lonny Price.

Although it's a crowd pleaser to have have the cast in hats, I kept want to ask, "Does anyone still wear ...," well, you know.

And I don't like the way Bobby is the only one singing, "Give another number to me." It changes the meaning of the song too much.
