Just one thing about shows on Broadway. I know you will have your heart set on seeing certain performers. But some of them miss often. So just don't be too disappointed.
Yesterday, Jennifer wrote:Huh? Where do you get your information?
There's a word for Broadway performers who miss their performances. And that word is fired.
Jennifer: Lots of luck on your diet! ;D Love the M & M's!
Jennifer, you can't be on a diet, cause I have picked up a big bag of peanut butter M&Ms for to mail to you!!!! I have been trying to find some of those special reeses pb cups with the pb on the outside but the store that had them is all out. It was a promotion and they don't know if they will get anymore.
So they were a promotion. Interesting. Did you tell them they should have told you this so you could have bought more for yourself :)
Regarding "Average Joe" that was discussed yesterday, I heard from two sources, that she has been seeing the obnoxious Zach since the show completed taping. The whole thing is such a farce. Adam is lucky he wasn't picked. At least he has been able to move on with his life and, according to what he said on the Today show yesterday, is seeing someone. Being the nice person he appeared to be, I'm sure he's much better off since I'm sure that had he been the one picked, it would not have led to any lasting relationship anyway. The trip he would have won, he can afford to do on his own $.
Well....um....actually....I bought some of the reeses cups for you...but...um...I ate them :-\
But I thought there would be more available!!!! LOL!
Thanks everyone for your encouragement re: seeing shows alone. I'll definitely consider it - and it will definitely be easier than convincing Andrea to part with her cash.
Most men get better with age? Well, I'd like to think so, but sad to say, others don't feel the way you do (like the guys I want to date - :D).
The real Singing Nun appears on the Ed Sullivan Christmas DVD.
Kinda neat, how the lines end up staggered as time goes on, isn't it!
And what did Melana say that made you cringe Jennifer?!
To our future NY visitors:
Discount tickets for most Broadway shows are available if you know where to look. If you want to take your chances on the day of the show there's always TKTS. Advance discount tickets (usually 35%-50% off) to many shows are available on several websites including Theatermania.Com and Playbill.Com. These are usually only $5-$15 more than at TKTS and you have the advantage of ordering them in advance. Most shows have about 90% of the house at top price with only the last couple of rows in the balcony at a lower price. Standing Room is only sold day of the performance if all seats are sold out.
Ron: Ummm..are you ok? LOL
That is so true, MattH, apparently once you hit thirty-five you might as well drown in the dating pool.
Very good DR Tom.
Ron - whassamattaU?
I am gorging on chocalate today...mint m&ms, peanut m&ms, Sees dark chocolates...man do these guys at work know me or what! I am gonna be sick pretty soon, though, if I don't stop eating it all.
Ask BK:
You've got a musical theatre CD to sell (via website only), but no budget for promotion. What do you do to make all the musical theatre CD collectors out there aware of its existence?

Jennifer: OMG! She is so lame..and I kinda thought she seemed cool when I was watching the show.
And btw <sob> maybe you can come up with a HHW Canadian cd price (since there are only 1 or 2 who might want the cd).
I did a little investigating and I now know the postage. But, if there's forms to fill out and lines to stand in, that means I have to estimate how much to charge for the "handling" of all that. So, there you have a DR Question: what sort of forms do you have to fill out to send a 4 ounce package from the U.S. to Canada?

What are mint M+Ms? Just regular ones with minty flavored chocolate?
Jennifer: The promo's looked like the same show different location. The new chick seemed a bit more annoyed with the guys lack of great looks though! Will you be watching?

Oh, you Canadians!
I wrote:
Well didn't they say they were new?
I dunno we probably have them here, I have just not seen them or tried them.
I'm sorry, Jennifer, I was just giving you a bad time. However, if they haven't gotten around to selling Peanut Butter M&Ms in Canada, they probably don't have the mint flavor there either.
Knowing someone 'above the line' on Average Joe, I can say that A GREAT DEAL of what you saw on screen was GREATLY MANIPULATED by the production team (much more than is considered the 'norm' on these types of shows). I checked out a couple of shows but ultimately tuned out because I resented all the hokey/ staged/fake nonsense going-on... it became - for me - just amateur-hour TV.
DR George: Those look like M+Ms to me :)
Noel - there is a small green card that is a LOT like the Certified Mail card that you have to fill out and declare what is in the package and if it is a gift or merchandise and the value....how you do that I think determines if there is a charge at the other end.
You can get the cards at the post office, but you have to stand in line to get it stamped and signed and all.
Happy Birthday to DR MBarnum!!!!!!
broadway prices, unless you happen to do the lottery, chances are your tickets will not be cheap. Maybe check out standing room only tickets (and then if there are empty seats you can move down). Tickets will probably cost at least $50 US
.
I'm not so sure i like pilates (like outdoor bike riding more). But I think I've lost 2 lbs in just 3 days. Woohoo. For some reason I think I will have very good results at the end of the 2 weeks.
Re: Broadway tickets
I still maintain since I got 30$ second row tickets last time I went, that I shouldn't pay that much more.
And my big problem is that I don't really like seeing musical theatre live when I've paid a lot of it. It disappoints me. I love the music, but i'd much rather see a cheap student production. To me, its all the same, the magic is still there.
But what are the more unusual meats you have enjoyed?
Right now, I've got a lamb roast in the oven. Der Brucer's son-in-law has supplied us with duck and venison, waiting in the freezer.
This makes me think of a question for BK and all the DRs: so much of the time, those of us who are carnivores eat beef, chicken, and pork (without which we wouldn't have ham chunks, right?). Sometimes we branch out, with turkey during the holidays, or lamb. Ostrich was popular in the high-end restaurants for a while.
But what are the more unusual meats you have enjoyed? I've had buffalo and bear. (Buffalo was like very lean beef; bear was gamier, but tasty.)
SWW, you do know that that question is going to get you some very interesting answers! Tom, Ron, TCB, anyone??LOL!Careful about inviting Tom to this discussion. I understand that, in Austrailia, sandwiches are referred to as a "cut lunch," which brings all sorts of other things to an imaginative mind! ;)

Jen--
Can't get into specifics... waaay too small a town 'round here. Most of the stuff you could figure-out yourself...
I love pilates. It hurts so much yet feels soooo good.
DR Andrea wrote:I'm still undecided. I've been doing the Winsor Pilates 20 minute workout. I don't particularly like most of the exercises. Plus i have a very delicate back and it hurts me to do it on a mat on the floor (I tried it on the couch today). We'll see.
How many broadway shows have you seen? I just ask because if Phantom is the only one you've seen, then just give others a chance. There is nothing like a musical on Broadway.
Ben: I assume you and Ant. will be going to see some shows in London. Any plans? "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" perhaps?
I don't know - doesn't anyone else beside me notice this dearth of posts (compared to normal for the last four weeks)? So many errant and truant (you know who you are).
