It is a beautiful sunny day in the Arizona desert. My DH and I went hiking in a place we'd never been before. It was beautiful. Some of the wildflowers are beginning to bloom.

Back from the long jog and am listening to a CD, trying to relax before lunch with Brent, which is in a mere forty minutes.

DR JMK - Just be glad that he didn't rip out the outlets too. -Have you turned off the circuit breaker for those outlets?

And count me in as another member of the "Never Had A Cavity" Club!

I have five cavities, but none since high school. :)

High school was a while back, George.   Get to a dentist and have those cavities attended to.

I stayed home yesterday after an overnight bought of some gastro-intestinal unpleasantness.

I sure feel lighter, though.

In the afternoon, I rewatched "Inside Daisy Clover"...just can't seem to get enough of it.

And then I watched "The Silver Chalice" -- really one of the most unusual films, with some actors just fine and others hamming it up bigtime (the guy who plays Kester is a must-watch for his preachy, magisterial style of acting and speech-making).   The sets are astonishing and the music is wonderful.

While I was waiting for my lunch ride to pick me up, I watched the rest of last night's IDOL competition. I don't know their names so I'll have to use other means of describing them.

The last guy (with the "Cher" look) had an amazing vocal range. I found his Mick Jagger tune too frenzied, but since it IS the semifinals and you're trying to get noticed and make a name for yourself, I completely understood the over-vocalizing. He was unquestionably THE most talented singer of the night.

The 16-year old rock girl (orange/red hair) had no vocal control, and I can see her blowing out her voice within a few weeks of constant singing on the show, but she was far and away the most talented of the girls.

The guy who did "And I Am Telling You" in his "drag" persona actually has a better voice than the judges gave him credit for having, but he really should try to sing one without the "act." I'd be curious to see if he can sustain a song without the shtick.

I've never been a Virginia Mayo fan.  I just don't get the eyebrows.

She's the "original" Spock, I guess.

Natalie Wood, as the young version of Mayo's Helena, looks rather pretty with blond hair.

I've read, with ever-increasing incredulity, the various/sundried "American Idol" comments.

I am SO GLAD I'm not watching any more!!!  LOL!

When I got in from lunch, I watched the first four episodes of SOUTH PARK. The AIDS season opener had been put into THE CULT OF CARTMAN that I reviewed a few months ago, but I rewatched it plus three new ones. I really liked the "Canada On Strike" episode (a vicious parody of the Writers' Guild strike of last year). The Britney episode was also OK.

Creators Trey and Matt contribute audio commentaries for each episodes, but they hate doing them so they only talk about five minutes per show. I went back and listened to their commentaries for each of the episodes I completed watching.

A. That was Adam Lambert - a Wicked cast member. His Jagger song last night was an attempt to break his "too-Broadway" label - and it did work!

B. Campy Norman Gentle has a normal persona, Nick Mitchell. who sang a few straight-up numbers in earlier rounds, and was quite good, vocally.

Since I sang Ash Wednesday services last night, with a rehearsal afterward, I have tonight off from choir rehearsal.  And I'm jiggy with that.

Yes, Jane, I am going to the conferences.  Vixdad will pick me up and we will go together.  I have never missed one since the Vixter was in kindergarten .  I will just have to listen and not talk!
