This is far too absurd. It's my day off, I don't have to go to work today... yet here I am, awake before six in the morning. Bleh.
What was not bleh was the reason der Brucer and I did not watch the Tonys last night. He and I were dining out, at Partners Bar and Bistro, enjoying a fine repast with the proceeds going to the local Dine Out For Life program. (For those who don't know, thats where restaurants join together on a particular night and contribute to local AIDS charities.)
Since Partners is also a piano bar, a cabaret was presented by Matthew, one of the regular pianists, plus two of his friends. Not a baritone in the trio, sad to say, which robbed some of their songs of the necessary gravitas. However, it was quite pleasant. It was also quite crowded, so after we had finished our dinners and our bottle of wine we didn't stay very long.
And then I went to bed. I feel like such a party pooper, but that's what my schedule has been like lately.
And that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
