Thanks, DR Jane.  I really mean it this time. It's at least 30-40 pounds or bust!

Lovely pictures, Dear Reader Laura!

I used my camera the other day when our bus stop shelter was smashed to bits with a brick.  I took pictures and sent them into Hartline.  I don't know if that will help or not.

American Football... FINALLY makes sense..........

A guy took his blond girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.

"Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents."

Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?"

She said "Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarter back! Get the quarter back!'

I'm like...Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!

(Well DR Vixmom does not get to post much these days)

I fear I am just as bad with football.

Someone mentioned that the Bucs lost the game this weekend because the turnovers killed them.  I said the only turnovers I knew about were Apple and Cherry.  I didn't know the team ate so many of them it made them lose a game.  ;D

Finished watching The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter.  Not sure what's next, watching-wise.

A friend of mine sent me this link to an article about a real person named Sweeney Todd.

There was no real Sweeney Todd; it's an urban legend.  We went through all this brouhaha in 1979.  He's an invention of the anonymous author of the penny-dreadful serialization "A String Of Pearls," which was dramatized by Thomas Preskett Prest.  Your friend should read this:

Hello. I started the month with politics, a lot of work at the office and a bad cold.  Just starting to catch up with myself.  I'm looking forward to the weekend. I don't have any plans, so I should be able to do some work at the office and at home and maybe see a movie

DR Julie, Ben and I are big fans of the series as well, but my memory is that several DRs thought very little of it.

They're now releasing all three seasons in one collection with additional material; it burns my butt to have to pay for another set of this series but I may have to.

elmore, IIRC , I was the only one who didn't care for the series.  It seemed like everyone else was a fan.

DR MattH - Was this a Direct-To-DVD release?  Or was it presented on one of the cable stations first?

It may be a direct-to-video release though it was submitted for an MPAA rating (PG-13) which direct to videos rarely are. The press information isn't really clear about that.

DR MBarnum, I agree with you about Celebrity Mole, not nearly as good as the one with "real" people. From every press release I've read, they intend to do it with regular contestants.

They are also looking for a new host. Obviously, Anderson Cooper isn't available, and they don't want Armad Rashad.

I may go to sleep early tonight.  I'm getting very yawny.  Or maybe it was this week's dresses on Project Runway?

Or is it already too late to say I'm going to sleep early?

I began my evening with 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY on Blu-ray. Spectacular imagery even if the blacks of space weren't as inky black as I was expecting.

And I listened to the uncompressed PCM 5.1 track. Good lord, I thought the den windows were going to be shaken out of their frames during the stargate sequence!

Next, I watched the "making of" documentary on the disc, ported over from the 2001 edition of the DVD. For some reason, I had never watched this before, and it was great to see it.

Watched the last 15 minutes of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. Of course, I had seen it on USA when it premiered, but this was the first time seeing it in HD. Certainly is FAR better in HD.

And then I ended the evening with tonight's LAW & ORDER episode.

Had a gay subplot to it which caught me by surprise. Interesting case and kind of heartbreaking.

I also meant to mention that today in the mail, I got a review copy of the PBS series that several of you have been talking about: PIONEERS OF TELEVISION. It comes out on January 29th, but since I didn't have a chance to see the four episodes when they were broadcast, I will look forward to seeing this at some point before the 29th.

I have to start on the next two TV box sets due on the 22nd - THE ODD COUPLE (season 3) I'll start on tomorrow followed by HAWAII FIVE-O (season 3).

Hi all!  Can't stay long but just wanted to drop by.

The news of the day is that next week I'm going to start Weight Watchers.  I've really packed on the pounds here lately and it's time to do something about it.

I found a meeting place close to work that meets from 1-2.  I'll just work till 5 that day so I can go to the meeting.

Danise, good luck! I just started counting points 2 weeks ago. I did weight watchers, attending meetings and all that, a few years ago and did well with it. I enjoyed attending the meetings, and felt accomplished every time I weight in and had lost some weight. Every now and then when I feel like I'm getting out of my comfort zone, I'll count points to get myself back on track.

This summer I started taking a medication that has caused me to gain 15 pounds. I switched medications but the weight has been very slow to come off. I am tired of not being able to wear half the clothes in my closet.

All I can say about Project Runway is that I would have chosen a different winner.
