One of my co-workers made chocolate frogs and gave each of us a cute gift bag containing a pair of them.  She even gave me one for my DH and one for my DS.

Cute.

Thanks Julie!  BTW, did I meet you in New York with FJL?  From your avatar you look very familiar  :)

LOL!  FJL actually said to me that the drawing of me looked more like the real me than his actual photograph looks like the real him.

We did not have the pleasure of meeting in NY yet.  I hope to remedy that soon.  :)

Me.  Too.
Never read the books and never saw the movies.

May I share some juvenalia with you department:

I wrote my first musical when I was probably 9 or 10.  It was actually optioned by the Salt Lake City Library Theater (don't ask--they had a theater there and they optioned two of my plays, oy).  One of the big 11 o'clock numbers (there were several, LOL) was called "Always Tomorrow."  My 10 year old lyric:

Always tomorrow
There's always the next day
To think of your problems
And then try to solve them
Yes, tomorrow never comes
It turns into today
And when today arrives, just turn away

I know my Tony is just around the corner (as Maria was heard to say).  ;)

Well, I'm off to see a local production of Once On This Island.  It's one of my favorite shows. :) It's being done by a local children's summer theater group and it's probably the fourth time that they've done it. ::) Anyway, it should be very good...and big.

Have a good evening, all!

LOL. It's one of those things...I've made it this long without reading or watching, I am not going to start now.

Good Evening!

Well, since DR elmore has reported yet...

Instead of heading to the East Village for macaroni and cheese at S'Mac, we stayed in the UWS and had Indian food.  We walked by one place that's now an Italian restaurant, and we walked by a new-ish place, and then ended back up at Swagat - which we had tried before.  We both ordered Vindaloo's - I, lamb; he, shrimp - plus some appetizers and breads.  All very good.  And since they place was not that busy tonight, the waiter was able to use the next table next to us to set up all our dishes.

And, as usual, the company was sparkling, and the talk scandalous!  ;)

After dinner, DR elmore headed home, and I headed down to Grom for dessert.  Again, not really much of a line.  :)  Tonight's selection: a medium cup, half Extranoir Cioccolata, and half Fior di latte con Menta.  Buon giusto!  (I'm not sure if that's the properly Italian for "very good", but I think you get the gist.)  :)

DR Jose, are there any hotels on the Upper West Side that may be more reasonable than those closer to the theater district the end of September?

And it's an absolutely beautiful evening here in NYC.  The temp is cool, the humidity is down, and there's a light breeze.  Aaahh... :)

Hmm.. You may want to check The Beacon.  However, there are some truly "hidden" hotels on the UWS, none of which whose names come to mind right now.

I've also been hearing about some great deals at the Mela and QT off of Times Square, as well as The Roosevelt over on Madison Ave.

Same here Cillaliz! LOL!

Perhaps I will read the book I picked up the other day, FILMI, FILMI, INSPECTOR GHOTE. I am  sure it is just about the same as reading the Harry Potter book.

Back from the memorabilia show (deesaster) and meeting, and I'll have a full report on both.

As I enjoy my newly aquired high speed internet (no more dial up! Hurray!) at the same time I am  listening to and partly watching some Punjabi music videos. Lots of men in turbans of various and sundried colors singing and dancing.

OH!

DR MBarnum - I meant to mention this earlier in the week... Well, maybe I was hesitant to mention this earlier in the week...

While going through my parents' new cable-TV set-up, I checked out their various "Comcast On Demand" channels they have.  Well, lo and behold, there's a Bollywood On Demand channel.  And it even has sub-categories: Classics, Romance, Action, Thriller, etc.  I wuz scared.  ;)

I need to finish reading MAGIC TIME before I begin the Potter book.  My friends down the street are no longer going to the Midnight party so I will have to wait & get my copy when the bookstore opens tomorrow at 9:00AM.  I hope they aren't busy then.

Off to read.  I may not be back until after I have read the 7th book, I'm just too afraid to turn on my computer & have my fun spoiled.  Keith can let me know if I have email. :)

DRs Jane, Cillaliz, etc:  What I've been finding on Craig's List under vacation rentals for Manhattan sound promising, but I'm real cautious.  I have emailed about one that I found there and cross-referenced at Vacation Rentals.

I was pointed to CL by my friend Doug, who lives in Manhattan and who works very near where that explosion took place Wednesday.  He's OK and says he has a long story to tell about it when we see him in October.
