Daytime Emmys rant......

Someone tell me who on god's green earth thought that Genie Francis's performance was award worthy.. What a crock!  She laide in a bed, woke up, and married Luke again... Big deal!! It was nice but not what I would call outstanding. I felt the other candidates were far more worthy...

I noted NBC had a pity nomination in one of the men's acting categories and that was the only one for NBC.. Not surprised!

Glad to see GL, ATWT and YR win over GH!

Gainey Ranch, maybe?

Thank you!  We think that is it.  I need to find a photo of the pool.  I'll look tomorrow.

Cd update:

Chris Isaak
"Wicked Game"

I have it on tape but have nto found it on cd... Ironicelly back in the day when DOOL was well written, they used to use a lot of pop music and Wicked Games was used for Matt Ashford's character Jack.

Nope.  But, again, as long as my name is on the check... :)

You'd be amazed at the amount of subs and subbing that goes in Broadway pits.  -Even in symphony orchestras from time to time.  If the producers were required to list everyone who covers a particular book, that would be quite a listing!  Some chairs have three to four people "covering" the book.  Heck, I'm #14 on the Mamma Mia! list here in NYC.  However, it's always good to have the depth in your coverage.

Now, if someone else were to leave the pit, and I get to take over the book, well, then I'd get my name in the Playbill.

So, whose does we have to take out?

And thinking about Conan give me the chance to wonder how his lady friend, the wonderful actress Annette Helde, who played the best Portia I ever saw in a cast including Stanley Tucci as Lorenzo, is doing these days.  Annette was Glenda Jackson's standby in the production of MACBETH that Jackson and Christopher Plummer took to Broadway years ago.  She and Conan met on the production, started dating, and wrote a funny play about the production, which had many directors, a long tour, and a short run. The two of them played every role except themselves.  It was brilliant.  Annette does a great Glenda Jackson impersonation.

Where did Annette's picture go? And where is she? I really adored her.

Had a nice series of shows to watch tonight.

I began with an ANGEL episode. Jasmine is still in control of LA, and Angel has gone through some portal into another dimension in order to find out more about how she can be defeated.

I did, too!  I was very sad to see this show end...but I gotta say I like "Battlestar Galactica" more!  But they're only going for one more season. :P

I watched another CLOSER episode. This one had Brenda in trouble with a traffic officer for not reporting her minor accident immediately. The murder story was also compelling.

Well, I'm off...as usual. ;)

Tonight at 9:30 pm, TAO (the theater group that's putting on the "Shrew" that I'm in) is doing a one night only return performance of "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" by Charles Busch and I've got a ticket to see it!  They did the show last year, but I didn't get to see it then.  Tonight, they're putting it on as a benefit for Capital City Pride.  I don't doubt that it'll be a blast! ;D

I think I forgot to mention that I did finally get around to watching MY LIFE ON THE D LIST, and enjoyed seeing Tom waiting tables and Kathy totally out of place at barbecues and other family events.

Better watch those spoilers, DR DakotaCelt. You'll get your hand slapped by giving away award winners before the west coast has time to watch the Emmys. I don't think the show is being shown live out there.

(This spokenb by someone who's often had his hand slapped for giving away spoilers.)

While I was waiting for the Daytime Emmys to come on, I put on TCM on Demand. On my cable service, this is free, and they were offering, among other movies, OKLAHOMA! so I put it on to see which version of it they were showing.

It was the superior Todd-AO version, and it had the good transfer that was used in the laserdisc version. Very sharp and in beautiful color.

I thought it was... I will say this..

Some winners and some losers I said hallelujah!

I was glad several people won and one I have been watching all year and that person really did a great job.

And speaking of the Emmys, there were a couple of ties tonight including one for the Best Drama Series. I was very surprised about that.
