I keep confusing Marion Cotillard with Audrey Tautou.
DR Elmore, how is the horse whip notated in "Sleigh Ride"?
And the word of the day is: BUSKIN!
Does anyone know what is happening with DR DAW?!? He even shut down his account here!

Greetings from Atlanta! Thank you for all the travel vibes...it was a great flight, not even half full do I had a whole row to myself. The only bad thing was that when I decided to take advantage of this and slid over to the window, I grabbed the armrest and sliced open my finger. There was a sharp pointed piece of metal poking out. I reported it to the flight attendant so it could be fixed before the next passenger sat there, and she realized that someone had broken off one of those dual prong adaptors for the headphones and the pointy prongs were left in the armrest. Fortunately she had bandaids.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, I'm glad to be home with Greg and the kitties, even if it is colder than NY!

The DAW mystery continues.....I blame DR JMK for this.

My computer just crashed. Completely went blank, and then rebooted. I'm so glad I wasn't writing anything.
I wonder if the Percy Grainger I was playing had anything to do with it? He was a kinky guy!
DR Dan (the Man) - Arena Stage put together a nice SUB/TEXT (http://www.arenastage.org/season/08-09/sub-text/looped/) feature on Looped. It included interviews with the playwright and the actors as well as various video clips and pictures of Tallullah Bankhead.

Thank you, sir! I will check this out...
Well... Not really. But I guess it's a meme now here on HHW.
Although, I'm still not really sure what a "meme" is.
Anyhoo...

DR Edi, maybe you should make a slight stink about this to the airline management. I think some kind of compensation might be in order...
but just generally, everyone really needs to think about what they post--would you say what you post to someone out loud if you were sitting next to them at a partay? T
I almost cried once when I saved up all my calories for a piece of chocolate -- and it turned out to be coconut.
I will say, not really vis a vis DAW but just generally, everyone really needs to think about what they post--would you say what you post to someone out loud if you were sitting next to them at a partay? The internet, much like driving a car, gives a false sense of "protection" and a certain "anonymity," and I think it leads to a lot of misunderstandings (as well as dead pedestrians).
DR ELMORE thanks for the package that arrived today. It IS beautiful! I love having it.....yes the beautiful souvenir book from FINIAN'S RAINBOW!!!

It's nice to see Priority mail back in action!
I put "anonymity" in quotes to denote I was not using the term literally.

Kind of like "lobotomy."
I think I'll go have an early lunch and then come back and write more.
It would take many many walks.
We are, I think, down to the homestretch (no pun intended) on our house search. There are two we are very interested in, including one we saw today that has a killer view and lots of space. The one today also comes with two (count 'em) HD TV's, including a big projection unit, as well as a pool table. It does have a rather strange layout in the basement, where they have added a steamroom and tanning bed.

I am looking forward to seeing UGLY BETTY tonight. I really hope people watch it.
Btw, has anybody seen the TNT series HAWTHORNE (with jada pinkett smith). I think it was on this summer.
It is starting here tonight and i was wondering if it was supposed to be any good.
Does anybody have any good recipes that they make with evaporated milk?
I have 1/2 a can and i really have no idea what to do with it.
I want a macaroon.
But I don't want to mararena.
How are things in Glocca Mora?
Where the heck is Hiro Nakamura ?
Two people who I would never confuse with each other are Valerie Harper and Tallulah Bankhead, which is why I was so taken aback when I first heard about LOOPED, which is about to open on B'way. DR Jose says he saw it in a workshop and that Harper does nicely in the role (of which I'm glad since I've always liked her.) But I have to wonder what led to this casting...
DR Matthew - Was is it a "raspberry filling" (something jelly-like) or something like a raspberry cream/truffle?
Curious mind(s)...

I am back from a frustrating library search today and I'll try again tomorrow.
I just had a good laugh: the actress playing Blair on ONE LIFE TO LIVE looks very silly trying to be hot while seducing one of the soap's actors.

A friend of mine really liked this show and hopes that it comes back soon. I never watched it, so I can't say if it's good or not.

I wasn't interested in it, so I didn't watch its summer run. Its ratings were barely tolerable, but it got a renewal for a second season anyway.

I picked my youngest son Jack up from high school Quiz Bowl practice last night. He told me that one of the questions was "What game of chance is most popular among women going to Las Vegas to gamble?" Jack buzzed in and said "Marriage". :)

OH OH OH Can we play house hunters? You post photos and tell us about it and we guess which one you picled? :D
Maybe I watch too much HGTV

Did you notice that they had put candles in the fireplace? I had never seen that before. They actually had a "specialty" grate with candle holders. I had never seen that before either, LOL.

That's the all the rage now. Especially in areas where we have the "Spare the Air" day and you can't light a fire (in which they encourage your neighbors to rat you out if they catch you using your fireplace or burning something in your yard) Only in CA??

You're welcome. Of course, JR now has two things to blame me for. At least.

DR edisaurus - Glad to hear that you had a relatively uneventful flight back home. I know you're going to be very busy over the next couple of days, but be sure to stop every now and then for a break. -Maybe have a macaron, or a sip of hot chocolate.

They asked if I wanted to report it but I felt that it would be fine.
Today I wrestled a cat into a carrier with much more bloodshed...he left a big gash in my cheek and I led all over the carrier, my clothes, the cat. (He's very strong even when he's sick!) I'm thinking about suing him. I'm sure I'll have a scar...it was still bleeding when I got home.

I did put on peroxide when I got home and then some antibiotic ointment. I'll hope for the best and go to the doc if it looks like a problem.
Nice shots of the potential new home environment, JMK.
A pool table, a sauna, and a tanning room. I may move in.
And finally, the steam room. Does anyone still have a steam room?

I'm sorry, this home doesn't have a fire escape.
I have vibes for you DR TCB.
It's absolutely beautiful outside - blue sky and cloudless as far as the eye can see.
By the way, thank you all for your concern yesterday about the apartment trying to ignite. The circuit breaker remains off for now. They will be coming in to fix the problem tomorrow. I asked them to wait until I could be there, so that Nicky doesn't freak out. I was supposed to be gone this evening, but I got hit with some terrible news yesterday, and decided to cancel my plans for this evening.
The new "Sonic" Drive-In has opened in Hayward. The DP and i are heading over there for dinner. This is a BIG deal!

Again... inquiring minds...

Probably just the drive through so we can come home and eat and watch TV.
But I have no pie. I may have to settle for a gin and tonic.

I have had a macaron, or two. Seems that my DH doesn't like the ones with gold dust. And of course, we wouldn't want them to get stale....
(How can you not like the gold dust???)
Matthew: Chocolate cream pie shake.

I love your reasoning.
I'm taking a break from band parts for a bit of dinner. I must say that though I make tuna salad regularly, this week's batch is particularly delicious. I got the lemon juice and amount of mayonnaise just right, which doesn't often happen, and it's really tasty. Now I'd love a big slice of apple pie. But I have no pie. I may have to settle for a gin and tonic.
I'm sleepy. Maybe I'll go to bed soon and get up around 5 am. I get more work accomplished in the early morning.
Gin and Tonic with pickle relish? ;)
But I have no pie. I may have to settle for a gin and tonic.
I love your reasoning.
and I love you!
As for Chocolate...
There is really no such thing as "bad chocolate". Instead, there "chocolate you like to eat" and "chocolate your friend likes to eat".
:)
DR Ginny, did you watch the Orange Bowl?

I'm sure you all feel similarly.
Thanks everyone. I would rather all vibes went for bringing DAW back.

They show their commercials here a lot, but as far as I know, there is no Sonic in western Washington. :P
i like those vibes george.
once i was able to use the computer after my return home from the hospital i put a hold on a request for a book at the library. i figured it worked since i went from number 5 to number 6 in the hold line. apparently i hadn't suspended my hold as the book came in today. they had changed the way it is done & i now need to fill in a reactivation date. maybe by the time the 16 people now in front of me have read the book i shall be able to hold it easily.
If a book won't be out until May, when do you think it will show up in the system so i can go on the waiting list?
DR Ginny, did you watch the Orange Bowl?
DR Cillaliz - I did watch part of it, until halftime. I was for Iowa, of course, and was glad to see this morning that they maintained their lead and won the game. The two meetings I attended yesterday were exhausting and I went to bed early last night and slept late this morning.
Just had an extraordinary thing happen, but I think I'll save it for the notes.
DR Jane, the HAWTHORNE show is starting in canada tonight (showcase). It played in the US on TNT this summer. We don't get TNT. :(

I just caught DD eating one of the sculptures.
? this doesn't sound good.
maybe the sculpture should be removed from his reach. is it a big sculpture?
I am JRAND.....the other guy is JMK......but I guess DR CILLA LIZ has figured that out since she added the quote.
We do look so much alike though, people mistake for each other all the time......if I had a nickel.....
Sorry I've been out of it the last couple of days. Allergies here have made life miserable, and the dropping temperatures have only exacerbated things. I understand the need to just sleep. But I understand DR Elmore's fascination with the Altman biography. Great tribute to a fascinating filmmaker.
Life will get better through chemistry, I hope, and I'll be back in action soon.

Time to head home. But first, I need to get some dryer fabric softener sheets. I finally ran out this weekend. I bought them when I still lived in the house that I rented from my sister and I still had a housemate. I moved out of that a little over three years ago and my former housemate moved out more than FOUR years ago, so they lasted QUITE a long time. :o
I don't do a lot of laundry. I'm all by my lonesome...and my former housemate had his own laundry supplies.
And I got them at Costco. :D
"Worst Cooks in America" HIGH FOOD COMEDY!!!! I highly recommend it!
Maybe it is time for you to purchase that lottery ticket ;)

Hmmm... Four years? Well...
52 weeks... 1 load of laundry each week... 204 loads of laundry....
So...
Just how many dryer sheets were in that box?
And/or...
Just how much laundry do you not do?
And/Or...
How many pairs of clean underwear and socks do you have in your dressers?
::)
On the plus side of a down situation; We now know of a 24-hour really good (though likely not nearly covered by pet insurance) emergency vet only 13 street blocks away. I'd always thought that if we had an off-hours emergency, we'd have to get over to the East Side somehow. But Skip's now seen this place in action in a non-life-or-death situation and was relieved to know this was so close to us.
