The Dream-0-Matic 6000 says that DR ELMORE is more interested in working on songs and musicals already established rather than brand new untried material - but that there must be a new approach and lots of discussion before he is interested in beginning his work.
And another tv show that is new tonight (but i don't get the channel so won't get to watch it till saturday) is AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL.
Druxy, have you ever seen SUGAR, the musical version of SOME LIKE IT HOT? It has a St. Valentine's Day Massacre Tap!
Let's choose our drag names today and pretend we are going on RuPaul's Drag Race. ;D
I want to be:
Helen Highwater
I recall that Larry Kert played the Tony Curtis role and, I believe, Nick Condos was George Raft.
Does anybody remember that production?
Did Robert Morse do the Jack Lemmon part? Also, who did the Monroe character?

I don't know who did the tour but Elaine Joyce did the Broadway production with Robert Morse (Jack Lemmon) and Tony Roberts (Tony Curtis)
My first question for ASK BK day - what feature on your new motor car would you now be unable to live without?
BK,
The other day you mentioned that Louis Lepke was a major character in the long musical. So, is this a musical about Murder, Inc. or is that just a subplot?
On a similar subject:
Several years ago, I had the idea of turning my original script of DILLINGER AND CAPONE into a musical. I had sold it to Roger Corman, who produced the film. Unfortunately (after his experience with THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS), were unable to negotiate a realistic deal for me to regain the rights, so I dropped the project.
But, one of the numbers I was planning for the show was "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre Polka".

The Lepke gangster stuff is not the main plot of the show - the show is about a young fellow whose dream it is to work as an usher at the Roxy movie palace in NY. He inadvertently saves Lepke's life and the two begin an unlikely friendship.
BK always knows - Robert Morse did the Lemmon part, Larry Kert, the Curtis part, and Leland Palmer did Sugar.
It was a wonderful show - especially Gower Champion's terrific staging.I hear this from most everyone who saw the show and I love the songs, so why didn't it quite make it?

My question for bk: have you ever mistakenly sent an email to someone and inadvertently copied someone on it that you hadn't meant to? Someone who was referenced in said email with a somewhat negative tone?
I did that yesterday regarding our film. I didn't say anything horrible and was able to smooth things over quickly, but I still had a panic attack. Greg said he'd never done this, so I wondered how common this was, and if there are any good stories involving said scenario?
DR ELMORE of course the interpretations of the Dream-0-Matic 6000 are open for discussion.

Just back from Pilates for the first time in two weeks -- and I can feel it in every muscle. Stopped off at Big Lots and there was a new shipment of DVDs for $2.50 apiece. Got "Clueless" and "Chinatown" plus "Funny Face" and "Too Many Girls," which I don't think I've ever seen.
We watched CASTLE last night & agree with Matt H, excellent episode. Matt, I'm baffled why you thought Martha had anything to do with the killer? ;D
And Robert Morse did The Beauty That Drives Men Mad on the Tony show that spotlighted Broadway women....and he was hilarious!
After today's meeting, I guess I can officially announce that in September I will begin a recording project of all the extant cello & piano music, piano solo music, and songs written for other venues than a show by Victor Herbert; this will include German lieder, Irish patriotic songs, Irish folksong arrangements, songs for plays, vaudeville acts and revues, and special occasion pieces like the Catholic University Alma Mater. Soloists will include Rebecca Luker, George Dvorsky, Ron Raines, Jeanne Lehman, Zachary Stains (DR JRand's fave Hercules), Steven LaBrie, Korliss Uecker, Rosalie Sullivan, Margaret Jane Wray, Dillon McCartney, Marnie Breckinridge, Valerian Ruminski, Jonathan Michie, and Christopher Fitzgerald, accompanied by William Hicks, who will be piano soloist. The cellist will be Jerry Grossman, principal cellist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, a post once held by Victor Herbert.
when I used to review community theater, I must have seen four or five productions of "Over Here!" No "Sugar." No "Seesaw." No "Applause." But I saw "Sound of Music" at least two dozen times. The one true novelty was finding a high school in Camden, Ohio, there near Middletown that staged "All-American."It was a wonderful show - especially Gower Champion's terrific staging.
I have never seen SUGAR on stage. It never seems to have caught on for community theaters and local theaters to do. Of course, a lot of Broadway shows at around that same time - OVER HERE! and SEESAW are two others that spring quickly to mind - don't get done much locally either.

While I ate lunch, I watched last night's SOUTHLAND. I absolutely cannot stand Tami, and everytime she's there whining and moaning about her boring life, I want to put my foot through the TV screen. The cases were all interesting, but Tami sucks the life out of every scene with her ego, her self-obsession, and her stupidity. She DESERVED what happened to her. I'm just sorry her poor husband Sammy must also bear the brunt of her idiotic decisions.
I have some things in the office that require attention, and then I'll head down and do some evening viewing. I do know I want to rewatch THE HEIRESS tonight. If there's time, I'll watch GRAN TORINO. If not, I'll fill in with some TV box set episodes of NCIS or THE CLOSER or BONES until I tune into HUMAN TARGET.
WBBL.
I'll be Notta Chance.

DtM it is my understanding Kindle won't work well when I'm reading at night in the dark. Thanks for the book info. If it seems to heavy when I won't check it out from the library.
The 5-10 mile speeding buffer may be a thing of the past:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-03-30-speeding-cushion_N.htm?se=yahoorefer
Tim Davenport, 42, of Kansas City, Mo., was recently stopped on 15th Street in Blue Springs, Mo., and ticketed for going 40 mph in a 35-mph zone — although the police officer initially ticketed him for 40 in a 25, he says. "I drove down that road again, and the posted limit was 35," he says. "I figured the judge wouldn't accept that, since I was over the speed limit, and would still charge me with it. So I went ahead and paid" the $60 ticket.
I'm not sure how many people love Cadbury's easter cream eggs. But here is a Todd Wilbur clone. I have not yet tried. But i am definitely going to. I like the idea about putting it in little egg molds (i wonder if i have those?)

I couldn't remember the name of the younger man she was dividing her time with, and I thought maybe a surprise would spring out that he had been dating her to get close to Castle so he could somehow get to Beckett through him.

DR TCB sometimes it takes a few nights to catch up on sleep & feel good again. Sleep well tonight!!!
CONGRATULATIONS, ELMORE!
I'll be Notta Chance.
I spent the majority of the afternoon watching one of my favorite recent comedies: THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. Always enjoy it so much every time I watch. It's one of the most beautifully cast movies in recent memory.
Before I started cooking lunch, I watched last night's AMERICAN IDOL performances/judges remarks (I skip everything else). The best performances: Michael (by far), Lee (next by far), Casey, and Crystal. The rest ranged from bland (Aaron, Katie) to inept (Tim, Didi). And the judges gushing over Andrew? What was THAT all about? Yep, it was somewhat better than the prior weeks, but it was hardly a major rebound. Slightly better, more in control, but that's ALL it was.
I am packed, I've made my snack and lunch for the 3 and a half hour train ride, and I remembered to take along huge manila envelopes this time to hold the photocopies. I'm will have dinner tomorrow night with my friend Loras Schissel and I am really looking forward to that. I am hoping they're still recording LIFE BEGINS AT 8:40 tomorrow and that my former friend from the LoC who made the whole experience so dreadful is here in Manhattan at the sessions and not at the Library.

Are your made in England or Canada. The ones I've have directly from England taste better than the ones made here, or used to. It has been awhile since I've had a Cadbury egg. I used to buy them for Craig.

I have no idea. I assume that the ones i've had are made in canada. But they could be made in the US.

Is this the Olive deHavilland HEIRESS? One of my all-time favorite movies! I think the play is great but I wasn't crazy about the revival with Cherry Jones. I did love Frances Sternhagen, though.
This morning I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:Beautiful
And the word of the day is: BEDIZEN!
