Wishing everyone a delightful Sunday!
That was no dream DR ELMORE....that was a premonition.
And the word of the day is: ALIQUANT!
Good morning, all.
Vibes for Cillaliz and all.
Vibes the BFR stays far from you, Ben. I hate those critters. They can be too mean and stubborn if they want something.
I wonder if the tables in LA restaurants are closer than they are here. Not that I eat out that often, but I am never close enough to another table to be able to hear what others are saying!
That's O possum to you, sir. I happen to like them. They're so ugly they are cute. And they don't carry rabies like raccoons do. I've been able to pet more than my share here around the house and had their little rat tail curl around my finger. So sweet.Good morning, all.
Vibes for Cillaliz and all.

I would gladly take on a whole family of racoons, rather than face down one nasty filthy possum!
Yesterday I piddled and twiddled with a few CDs, finishing up some listening I'd been doing on my little road trip the other day, and then where did my hankerings take me but to HELLO DOLLY which I hadn't visited or even revisited in quite some time. I went directly to a nice fresh listen to the 1994 revival which now takes on all new meaning after hearing and reading the story of its creation. I appreciate the recording now more than ever, and a nice fresh thanks must go out to MR BK for the effort that must've nearly kilt him.
Now to backtrack to the original cast for a couple of things. I so clearly remember wearing out that first LP back in the day. That copy, may it rest in peace, is long gone. Its replacement (still the original gatefold LP, early pressing, etc.) is in excellent shape, but what I listen to now, since I don't have it on CD, is the reel to reel tape which is a bit kinder than that Dynagroove LP. (I only have about 100 tapes, but I love them dearly.) Then, on to Mary Martin and Pearl Bailey, both also on RCA Dynagroove LP. Haven't spun these in many years, so they need a good cleaning on the machine, and new sleeves. They should be in fine shape, but we'll see. I think Pearl was issued on CD, but not Mary. Or is it the other way around?
good morn to all.
Today is a traveling day. Leaving my native country to go to my adopted country. Looking forward to the return
Did anyone here see this about the malware that should strike tomorrow?

Possibly because it was the first show I saw on Broadway, but I still have such wonderful memories of Pearl Bailey, Cab Calloway, and the All Black Cast (their billing, not mine) in HELLO, DOLLY! at the St. James Theatre. First Broadway theatre, first Boradway musical, first Broadway expeience. What a way to start!

My first Broadway experience, too, but it was Ginger Rogers. My family was in NYC for all of one evening, and it was unanimous that that's the show we should see. I later saw Channing in it on tour, in Miami.
My dad was in NYC for one day back when Preston and Cook were still in THE MUSIC MAN, and he still talks about seeing that from standing room.
But our greasy marsupial friends make such a delicious stew. I ain't et no raccoon yet.Good morning, all.

I'm still looking for that show. It's on DR Elmores VCR and he won't share! :) Maybe BK could do the soundtrack.I wonder at you guys great memories. My computer is clean as well.
I woke up about fifteen minutes ago. I didn't get to bed until two, and I thought it was around nine or ten so I just stayed in bed. Then I glanced at the time on my iPad and who knew - noon! Guess I really needed to sleep and I did. See what happens when the Tree Trimmers aren't there - glorious silence and glorious sleep.
We are back from Lima, where the Killer Brownies were a big hit
I was definitely in the mood for a swamp movie.
Ernest Borgnine has died.
He was one of the nicest people in the business.
I was with him in Dallas this past May at Texas Frightmare Weeked.
He will be missed.
Has anybody here tried YONANAS?Never heard of it until today. I'll have to try it. I bought lots of fruit this week because most of it was on sale.
It's basically frozen fruit that you put in the machine and it comes out the texture of soft ice cream.
I got one this week and LOVE IT. It is amazing especially if you like ice cream but don't want to gain weight. Plus if you don't do well with dairy.
I showed it to my niece today. We made so many different flavors to test. We had banana/blueberry, raspberry, blueberry, with a bit of banana (this was super good). Also banana and peaches. And banana/cherry/blueberry.

I love Jane Leeves! She was in "Murphy Brown," then "Frasier," and now "Hot in Cleveland."
Re: conversations from nearby tables:Noise is probably the largest complaint that diners have about restaurants, and yet the restaurateurs claim that the noise creates an energy that is desirable and highly valued. If a place is too quiet, people are afraid to talk or won't stay, so they say. It has long been a problem. The San Francisco Chronicle restaurant reviewers take a noise reader with them and record just how noisy places were and include the number with their review. Someone complained about a high reader, so the critics went back (anonymously) and reported even higher noise levels than before.
I've been to some restaurants where the tables are extremely close together. Several years ago a friend took me to an expensive restaurant for my birthday. The food was good, but not great, but the real problem was the noise level in the restaurant. We were packed in like the proverbial sardines! There were four people at the table next to us, in animated conversation, and I truly felt like I was sitting in someone's lap. I know this is a highly rated--and did I mention expensive?--restaurant, but it ruined it for me. I would have preferred to have gone out for burritos and an actual conversation.
John G, do you hear many complaints about this?
I hope he doesn't have to face Ethel Merman in the afterlife.Ernest Borgnine has died.So sorry to read this. He was a favorite. Condolences to both his family and friends.

We went out to check and there was a BFR!!!
That's Big Frikkin' Racoon, in case you're trying to guess.
Luckily, the dogs are not frightened by thunder and such.
DR Jane (and anyone else), my niece (6) has turned into a big time reader. She is reading the Nancy Drew teen crew books. Daisy Meadows Fairy series. Fancy Nancy chapter book. It is so cute to watch. She just loves to read!
So far this summer she's been to her library 3 or 4 times. And mine twice (different selections of books). And this is only since she finished school on June 22nd.

Welcome home to DR JANE.
Glad that DR Jane and DH Keith are home, safe and sound!
BK is on a Partridge Family episode right now (on Antenna TV)!Drat, I don't get that channel.
Oh I think making the cue available so that we can hear what has been done is a great idea.

Question: Do opossums carry rabies?
Answer: Any mammal can get rabies. However, the chance of rabies in an opossum is EXTREMELY RARE. This may have something to do with the opossum’s low body temperature (94-97º F) making it difficult for the virus to survive in an opossum’s body.

Raccoons are far more likely to carry rabies then an Opossum. I've seen plenty of them (opossums) both in the day and the night around here where I live. They are always cute/ugly. Love the babies--when they are scared they hiss. I've never had one try to bite me. They climb up on the dogs cage from time to time and that's when I'll pet their tail. It wraps around my finger and is surprisingly warm. Anyway, I like them. :) I'd be far more scared of a Raccoon. I would never try to pet one of them in the wild.
I've had a couple babies over the years but they have to go when they get older. They turn mean.

Bryan rescued a baby opossum and while he was out it escaped from his room & somehow was walking around the house. Keith would not pick up the little hisser and made me do it ;D
Got it!
And I didn't even know I had Antenna TV. Thank you, DR KevinH.

Monday someone from Directv is supposed to replace our recorder. I fear the information has been lost & everything will have to be reprogrammed, at least what I can remember to program.I hate it when they have to replace my DVR. Having to set everything back up is the worst!

I used to collect overheards from the office. My favorite that I can print here:
"I have a dog, so I guess that makes me bi."

It can be nice for people with kids who don't like to eat fruit. But i totally wanted it for myself. I like treats, but want them to be healthier. It is delicious.

The whole first season of "Smash" is on NBC.com, so can catch up. I saw the first episode. It was cliched. But some of it worked.
Likewise here about overheard conversations. I so rarely hear what's being said at other tables.

(wait for it)
LURE OF THE SWAMP, for which the thanks goes to DR MBarnum. I was definitely in the mood for a swamp movie, and I guess it starts more promisingly than it delivers, but damn it all, I enjoyed it to the end. This could almost be a double-feature companion to Jean Renoir's SWAMP WATER. Not that I am equating Mr. Hubert Cornfield with M. Jean Renoir. Actually I just wanted to type the name Cornfield. But: Swamp movies. Possibly my new favorite genre. Or sub-genre. Or sub-sub-genre.
And now, I must be off. I must shower, get dressed and spend the day at my parents' house with my aunt. I'm sure that we'll play cards or Scrabble or something and then we're going to Applebee's for dinner. Sounds good to me. :D
Have a good day all!
