Interesting to see if how much of the libretto B.B.F. they use.

Good morning, all.
Oy.
-
Definitely one of those Oy mornings, getting up.
Would like to have slept longer, but the felines were up and at it, and making sure I was going to be up and at it, too.

The show is in Cambridge, MA right now, not New York. It will move to Broadway in March. Previews will begin March 23 and the show will open April 25th. It will play at the Music Box Theatre on 45th Street.

I have a similar history with SILENT RUNNING, which is to say, hardly any history at all. Oddly enough, I bought that UK Blu-ray probably well over a year ago. I think I'd read something that made it sound like a pretty good transfer of a pretty good film that would be well worth catching up with the rest of the world on. But I still haven't sat down and watched it. Or even stood up and watched it. I shall look forward to reading what MR BK thinks after finishing it.

Good morning! I'm off to exotic Leesburg, Virginia to meet friends I first met at my old job 34 years ago.

Be home later......when it's dark.

Good morning, all! Another restless night, but I am up and in no time at all a taxi will take me and two shopping bags of things down to Toyland.
My holiday vacation is officially over, I guess.
-
Hi, I'm about to try to catch up. Hope all is well with everyone, and vibes to those who need them, of course.
-
At 1 p.m. today I'll be sitting myself down in the local AMC to watch the Met's LES TROYENS "Live in HD". I have (or did have at one time) a passing familiarity with the piece, having listened to my taped 1980s Levine broadcasts over and over. It will be very interesting to see/hear Fabio Luisi conducting it, and to see the thing for my first time since the days of the Pioneer laserdisc.

Saturday evening greetings from Bloomsbury! We've had 2 full days with Frs. Klukas (liturgy & art history) and Peay (church history). Yesterday we boarded our chartered bus and went to St. Paul's Cathedral. Spent a couple of hours there, then had a nice 2- hour bus tour of London highlights conducted by Kathleen. She dropped us at the British Museum for 2 hours of touring, followed by a lovely dinner in the rotunda restaurant. Short walk back to the hotel.
-
;D
-
Morning everyone.
Happy Saturday.
It's sunny outside.
;D
-
It's a nothing else to say day.
:-[
-
This morning we boarded our bus at 8:30 and headed for Canterbury. Walked around the St. Martin's churchyard, then headed for the Cathedral quarter. A cousin of one of our parishioners met us for lunch, after which we rejoined our group for a guided tour of the Cathedral and choral evensong. Got back to hotel about 6 and we have the evening free. Richard and I are spending it at Starbucks catching up with our email and social networking.
-
Tomorrow after church we travel to Norwich for the week. I sincerely hope we have free wi-fi in the hotel there!
-
Well, Starbucks is closing - bye for now!
-
Topic of the Day:
Everything that's been mentioned, but I'd like to add "Just Because It's Magic" from Geppetto. It's a duet between (on the soundtrack) Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Drew Carey. It's one of those two-songs-sung-at-the-same-time songs that I love. And it's just a cute duet. :D

Ginny - I visited Canterbury Cathedral about a year ago for the first time. Wonderfully historic!
-
DR John G be sure to rotate your exercised as not to over stress those unused muscles.
-
From DR TCB:
Jane, are you trying to take all of the fun out of her life?
I only suggested reducing the evening caffeine, and withdrawal headaches are far from fun ;)
-
From DR Vixmom regarding THE MAJESTIC"
Oh it's very good - Jim Carey playing it straight and getting it right
Yup :)
I'm glad DR Vixter watched "Big Hand for the Little Lady" with you. Now I wish I had seen it, again.

None of the muscles, but my mouth have been used lately. :D

Too much talking at the gym ;)

The Great Performances episode on Broadway Musicals: A Jewish Legacy is now posted on pbs.org, if anyone missed it.

How many DR's knew about this? Even if you did, watch the results when the machines are "hacked".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCKr5WgVVN8
-
Well, I've watched the pbs special. Wish I could say that I liked it better. I don't know if an extra half-hour would have helped. I don't discount any of the material included, but I guess it was just another of those specials, as has been pointed out here, that is not for theater aficionados. Everything in it has been shown and said before. It was just repackaged.
-
Can we get on page three?
-
Maybe now.
-
I haven;t caught up. Which TV special was everyone talking about?

Page 3, at nearly 7 PM?

Go to PBS.org. It should be fairly easy to figure out. And enjoy.

So the Vixter and I went to see Twilight - the final movie in the series
-
it was pretty good
-
if you are a fan of the series
-
anybody else probably would hate it
-
She also made some applications for employment after the holidays she was advised that her services were no longer needed
-
then we set up communion for tonight's service and Sunday's service
-
oh and we put flowers on the graves of her friend, my mother's neighbor, and my grandfather
-
then we went out for lunch
-
and now we are home
-
so the "productive" never did happen
-
so is everybody ready for Downton Abby tomorrow?
-
The local paper was full of suggestions as to where we on Long Island we could have authentic British, beers, pub food, high tea
-
I guess I should plan on taking down the Christmas tree tomorrow
-
She also made some applications for employment after the holidays she was advised that her services were no longer needed
Was that a surprise?
-
I have spent a lovely afternoon with the McLaughlin-Morellis, and a god time was had by me; I cannot vouch for them. I love visiting them at Christmas, It's like visiting Santa's shop: the tree is gorgeous; the stuffed animals are at their best; little treats are everywhere, the Yule log is burning with carolers being melodious; and even the front door this year was a golden sparkling vision. I do not remember its being so splendid last year.
Ben and Anthony are really fantastic hosts, and I very much enjoyed their company. Thank you, gentlemen!
-
You are very welcome, Gentleman Moore!
We had a great time as well. It's always a joy to spend an afternoon with you. We had fun, fun, fun and our dad didn't even take the T-Bird away!
Thanks for the visit Dear Friend.

So the Vixter and I went to see Twilight - the final movie in the series

I am!
I recorded the last show and I will watch parts of it to remind me how last season ended.
-

it was, unfortunately. She was hoping for extra hours during school recess

So the Vixter and I went to see Twilight - the final movie in the series
I'm not sure if you or the Vixter have read Breaking Dawn. But there is something that they do in the movie that is totally different from how they did it in the book. And I thought how they did it in the movie was incredible.
I'll put spoiler space in case anyone here is going to see the movie or read the book.

In the movie Breaking Dawn Part 2 - after Alice arrives and all the bad guys arrive (the big fight scene). Well that whole scene was amazing to watch on screen. I absolutely loved it how heads were flying ... the way they played out the whole fight. And then how they showed that that was what would have happened. Well no fight scene in the book. So imagine all the Twilight fans freaking out during the movie thinking that the director had changed the book. I thought what he did was great. Because the film is so visual it needed a scene like that. But to change the book. Well that would not have been good. So this was the best of both worlds.

NEW JOB VIBES FOR DR VIXTER!!!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
The local paper was full of suggestions as to where we on Long Island we could have authentic British, beers, pub food, high tea
Don't you already have "authentic British" in your household, Vixmom? As for the beers, pub food, and high teas, I wouldn't know.

I'm waiting for the DVD at the end of the month.

Vibes for all in need.

Wanna eat like the folks on Downton Abby?
Here's a website with ideas -- as well as many secrets of/spoiler alerts for season three

Page four? Four pages?
-
Most unseemly.
-
We had a wonderful stumble-through - cast is amazing, Hal Linden is an utter delight, and the songs are pure heaven. Only two teeny-tiny lyric flubs, both covered very well. I only had to give two tiny notes, that's how good the singers are doing.
-
Then a few of us went to Hugo's. I had the pasta papa (not nearly as much as usual and I shared some of it) and a small Caesar (much smaller than usual). Nice dinner, nice conversation. I'm home now and must really buckle down, Winsocki, as I've written less that two new pages today. I did spend a bit of time finessing the previous day's writing, so there's that, but two pages will simply not do. Once I'm through this chapter, then it's somewhat easier for the next few chapters.
-
Also, season three of The Killing (Danish version) arrived - I've read nothing about it, so I'm anxious to dive in.

Sat through a wonderful 5-1/2 hour opera (LES TROYENS) today. Incredible cast.
Might have to miss the MARIA STUARDA next, but am greatly looking forward to the Las Vegas (yes, Las Vegas) RIGOLETTO that follows.
-
Ran a few errands, came home, watched a few Twilight Zones, and now I must needs work on a few excerpts from BARNUM that I'll record for these people tomorrow for use as audition accompaniment. Then, back to the TV room and the Blu-rays.

I haven't done the Met simulcasts in years. I need to start doing that again.

Well, TCB, you'll be pleased to note that the Sparkle remake doesn't hold a candle to the original, and the script is particularly horrible.

We did read the book and I suspect most of the audience had as well - It was a very well behaved audience - no talking or texting when that scene started there were shocked exclamations of "What?!" " No!" " How could they?!"
when the Alice reveal came the Vixter actually said out loud, "Thank God!" and there was applause and laughter because everyone felt the same way

I do have me an authentic Brit in residence - and we have our Christmas crackers and make tea every day in our Brown Betty . We keep a goodly supply of Branston pickle, HP sauce and pickled onions in the cupboard
I am known to make a trifle with Birds custard from time to time and a do make lovely steak and mushroom pies, chicken pies and shepherd's pie (if I do say so myself)
I have not yet mastered scones and haven't a clue as to how to make or where to buy clotted cream for high tea - though I supposed I could rustle up some cucumber sandwiches in a pinch

I am looking forward to Shirley MacLaine and Maggie Smith together
-
maybe I should make a steak and mushroom pie for dinner tomorrow in honor of Downton Abbey
-
we haven't had that in some time
-
You could play some Clint singing in the background. It would give Vixdad a reason to believe so many violent acts would occur.
-

That sounds very good.

Well, the oversexed little girl just showed Bing her panties. I hope this isn't a running joke in this movie.

OK, so Rochester Anderson has just tried to teach Mary Martin how to sing "colored." It was followed by the little girl pulling up the skirt of her doll and announcing in a loud whisper that the doll had forgotten her panties.
Ugh.
-
oh -- looks as if the whole film is in black and white
-
Fried, with eggs! Why didn't I think of that.
-
odd as he just took pains to show us that it is July 21 , 1983

If I could take the musical numbers away from the script, it would be a lot better.
Funny thing is, that's why I put the movie on. The taste of Sparkle, for the very same reason, was so bad that I thought this would be a relief.
-
I remember when I was around 12, I saw BABES IN ARMS or BABES ON BROADWAY; and I was so shocked when Mickey Rooney did a musical number in blackface.

I need to get a vhs to dvd recorder and convert all my vhs tapes to dvds

I liked The Great Gatsby - hated the ending but that was Fitzgerald-
The script was just terrible, even though it was fairly close to the novel. But then again, what's good about the novel isn't the story. It's the sentences. Fitzgerald writes just beautiful sentences. And there's nothing dramatic in that.

Wow, we've had us a frenzy. I had my own writing frenzy, too - I really didn't see how I was going to write more than five or six pages today and that's no crime at all, but after watching episode two of The Killing III, I decided to write another page or two and ended up doing six more pages - so, twelve again. That's become the magic number with this book, I think. Today's writing was basically feeling my way through a tricky section, but I got past that and am now into a sequence that's easy to write. After that, then it will just be methodically going from one thing to another.
