Before I purchase a book I have learned to take a quick look to see if my library has it. Very frustrating is to find a book I just read on the new book list.
When I purchase eBooks I tend to chose one from my lowest priced books on my wish list. Example, Lisa Gardner's new book that will be out in January is $14 something. I'll wait until it has been out awhile & the price comes down.
REMAKEs
ON A CLEAR DAY....
I would like to see all the material that was cut out and put in the correct order.
Wait Till We're 65
Who Is There Amoung Us Who Knows
She Wasn't You (Montand's version)
ESP (If it was filmed)
Also Come Back To Me was cut strangely. Continuity is all over the place
To get an idea what was removed from On A Clear Day....

I don't care about the film score as much as I care about the numbers cut from the Broadway score fro the film!

Now, who does our DR JRand62 look like? He sure reminds me of someone either on tv or 1930s and 40s films. I used to have a memory.
My World and Welcome to It (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_World_and_Welcome_to_It)
is the name of the television series from 1969-1970
Some comments from yesterday notes
DR MBARNUM SAID
I watched a silent version of WIZARD OF OZ which was shot on location. For me, the location shooting removed the magical-ness of the story. It ended up looking like a lot of Halloween trick or treaters wandering about the countryside in a home movie.
Early (very early) silent films were shot outdoors as they didn't have soundstages. One of the reason why film production moved from the east coast to California was the weather. Eventually stages were built.
I just got an email from our publisher, who is asking my co-author and me to do a new book, "Barbecue Lovers' Guide to Texas." It would take a lot of research and often overnight to places hours and hours away. Don't know what to think yet. And, of course, they want the manuscript quickly.

Shut up and do it. You're on a roll!
And Greetings from Toyland!
And, DR Ron Pulliam, I think what MGM did to BRIGADOON isa disaster, cutting the score to shreds and losing Loewe's wonderful dance music. If you only know the film and not the Broadway score, then you don't know BRIGADOON.
Well thanks for all the kind comparisons....William Windom....I will take.
I am just glad that no one said Zasu Pitts.
Where is Everyone?
Wishing every DR a happy and fulfilling day! :)
Ron and Elmore, what do you think of the Peter Falk-Robert Goulet-Sally Ann Howes TV version?
I was doing a lot of theatre and carousing in the 1970s, some of it with DR Ginny!
TOD:
Another question for you DR BK:
Do you play any musical instruments?
And the word of the day is: BURKE!

I do love Jason Graae! He's all fired up about Dublin, and his emails are a hoot.

The story is basically the same in both editions....MEDIA BLITZ!!!
Last night's rehearsal was fine, but many people were there to see little Joey and Abby and Hannah in the ensemble and take pictures, so the rest of us were just getting in the way when we were onstage....without them.....lots of phone checking, etc, when the ensemble was not on....

DR John G,
I agree with all of your choices. All great movies. I don't know though, if I have seen The Maltese Falcoln all the way thru.
I watched Rebecca last night for at least the 5th time. I still love it!

Kate, The Maltese Falcon (from 1941 with Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre) is one of my dad's absolute, all-time favorite movies of all time! ;D
I am home and in serious trouble: I twisted my back and now I've got a pinched nerve or something that is inhibiting my walking and standing. I can hardly move and the pain is dreadful.

There must be a way that you can talk to the person who is in charge of ebooks at your library so that you can find out which books will be coming in. Is there no way that you can read any hardcover books vs buying an expensive ebook?
I think we're going to do it. The excitement has been building over the course of the day. That and the thought of eating barbecue, barbecue, barbecue.

Wednesday morning greetings! After putting out a couple of AAUW fires, I'm going to meet Rob at the new apartment. He will use my car to transport some stuff from the old place while I work on the kitchen in the new place. My daughter-in-law must trust me - or she's put up a lot of Post-It notes!
DR Elmore, I think DR JRand kind of looks like William Windom when he played a James Thurber type in a TV series. Can't remember the name of the series...

Great review for both BK and RYacko.
Jane, one of my problems with the movie, they took a lot of its darker hues out of it, so they could sell bendy Dragonheart toys (which they didn't). While I thought it a film families could safely go to; I never intended it to be a kiddie film. I also believe that kids can handle darker tones in material; read faery tales sometime. Very dark a lot of them.
DR MBarnum the air quality in Medford has gone from "sensitive only" to "unhealthy" which was the same for Ashland until we improved to moderate this afternoon.
Grants Pass near the fires went from "unhealthy", skipping very unhealthy, to "hazardous.
Re libraries: I stopped using the library many years ago. On two occasions they notified me that I had overdue books that I know I returned. I found the exact books on their shelves (their numbers matched). On another occasion, they notified me that a book about children and art was overdue. I never ever checked out a book on that topic. I simply don't trust their system, and I certainly do not want my credit to get a ding from their sloppy record-keeping.
Sorry, Ginny.

DR Jane - glad that you got out of the smoke for a bit.
And thank you all for the vibes and good wishes! Please keep them coming. I need one helluva speedy recovery.
Manhattan Overdubbing.....isn't that a group that DR GEORGE likes?

I knew yesterday was Tuesday, but it felt like Wednesday by the end of it. So I was thinking today was Thursday. But it isn't. I'm going to be very confused by the time Friday rolls around.

Top of that, my Uncle Harold, who married my mother's sister Lois, died today. He was a wonderful man, and I loved him very much.
I hope your back improves quickly, Elmore. I am having back pain, too. But luckily a weak pill helps me when I need it.
